The genome of a second Drosophila species, Drosophila pseudoobscura, is sequenced and is compared to the genome sequence of Drosophila melanogaster, a primary model organism. A repetitive sequence is found in the Drosophila pseudoobscura genome at many junctions between adjacent syntentic blocks.
