In this article, the design and performance analysis of Jaya-assisted reciprocal rank-based proportional–integral–derivative controller with derivative filter (PIDn) is proposed for the automatic generation control (AGC) problem of two-area interconnected power systems. The filter with a derivative gain is used to nullify the impact of noise in the input signal. The integral of time multiplied square error (ITSE) of frequency deviations, tie-line power deviations, and area-control errors is the foundation of the goal function developed for tuning controller parameters (ACEs). A single overall objective function is created by combining these sub-objectives. ITSEs of two areas, ITSEs of tie-line power deviation, and ITSEs of ACEs of two areas are weighted and summarized to form the overall goal function. Each sub-relative goal's importance in the control design is evaluated using the weights in the overall objective function. The weights in this article are determined using the reciprocal rank approach in a methodical manner, in contrast to earlier techniques where weights were either assumed equally by ignoring the relative relevance of sub-objectives or chosen at random. The resultant total objective function is minimized using the Jaya method. Six different test cases involving various load disturbances in the interconnected areas are used to evaluate the performance of the suggested Jaya optimizer-assisted reciprocal rank technique-based controller. Additionally, the performance of various controllers tuned with the sine cosine algorithm (SCA), salp swarm algorithm (SSA), symbiotic organisms search (SOS), Nelder–Mead simplex (NMS), and Luus–Jaakkola (LJ) algorithms is compared with that of the Jaya-tuned controller. The time domain specifications are provided for each of the six test scenarios. To display the differences in frequencies and tie-line power, the results are also shown. Objectives: To analyze relationships between Medicaid automatic enrollment for child Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients and health insurance coverage during transitions. Data Sources and Study Setting: Medical Expenditure Panel Study, 2000-2020 and National Survey for Children with Special Health Care Needs, 2001-2010. Study Design: Leveraging variation in SSI-Medicaid automatic enrollment status across regions and over time, we estimate a regression model to quantify associations between automatic enrollment and insurance coverage. We validate our findings in the NS-CSHCN. Data Collection: Our sample includes children receiving SSI for a disability. We also analyze a subsample of children newly enrolled in SSI. Principal Findings: Automatic enrollment is associated with a statistically significant increase in insurance coverage. Expanding automatic enrollment to all states is associated with increases in Medicaid enrollment of 3% (CI 0.9%-6.7%) among all SSI children and 7% (CI 1.1%-13.9%) among children newly enrolled in SSI. We find similar decreases in uninsurance. Analysis in the NS-CSHCN replicates these findings. Conclusions: Medicaid automatic enrollment policies are associated with increased insurance coverage for SSI children, particularly those transitioning into the program. Medicaid policy defaults could play an important role in reducing administrative burdens to improve children's coverage and access to care. Purpose: This study aims to optimize electrical systems represented by ordinary differential equations and events, using their frequency spectrum is an important purpose for designers, especially to calculate harmonics. Design/methodology/approach: This paper presents a methodology to achieve this, by using a gradient-based optimization algorithm. The paper proposes to use a time simulation of the electrical system, and then to compute its frequency spectrum in the optimization loop. Findings: The paper shows how to proceed efficiently to compute the frequency spectrum of an electrical system to include it in an optimization loop. Derivatives of the frequency spectrum such as the optimization inputs can also be calculated. This is possible even if the sized system behavior cannot be defined a priori, e.g. when there are static converters or electrical devices with natural switching. Originality/value: Using an efficient sequential quadratic programming optimizer, automatic differentiation is used to compute the model gradients. Frequency spectrum derivatives with respect to the optimization inputs are calculated by an analytical formula.
