The article examines new fragments of statues and statuettes of the Classic Greek and early Roman era from the Acropolis in Athens and offers observation about the iconography of the goddess Athena in classical period. It suggests that it is possible to ascribe the fragments to known statue types such as the Athena Parthenos, the Athena Velletri, the Athena with a cross-slung aegis, the Athena with crossed aegis, and the Athena with the a collar aegis of the Ince type. It notes that certain sculpture fragments made of Parian marble of excellent quality and dating from the second half of the 5th century BC. The article also presents several unpublished Athena statuettes from the early Imperial period.

The article offers information on Greek votive reliefs dedicated to Athena. The author provides a detailed discussion of the subjects of the reliefs and their compositional structure in order to draw the chronological development and to key out similarities and peculiarities in the iconography and outer form with a concept to categorize the votive reliefs. Moreover, from the chosen figures of Athena, it is possible to gain information regarding the nature of the goddess and the identity of those who believed in her and the part they played in society.
