Dans les suspicions d’infanticide, déterminer si la naissance était vivante ou qu’il s’agit d’un mort-né est de grande importance. L’étude des poumons présente un intérêt médico-légal particulier. L’objectif de cette étude est de vérifier la fiabilité du test de docimasie pulmonaire hydrostatique en le comparant à l’examen histologique des poumons et au contexte anamnestique. La détermination de la naissance vivante engagera des investigations criminelles supplémentaires.

Death following accidental suffocation due to overlaying is often overlooked, and still attributed to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). We report a case of sudden infant death following accidental suffocation due to breast overlaying during breastfeeding. We report the death of a two-month-old male baby, without medical history, who was found lifeless wedged under his mother’s breast. The mother subsequently admitted that she had fallen asleep while breastfeeding and awoke a few minutes later to find him wedged under her breast and not breathing. External examination of the infant’s body revealed right frontal congestion with reddish-purple colour of the right frontal skin corresponding to where the mother’s breast had overlaid his face with bilateral conjunctival petechiae with no signs of external injury. Internal examination revealed congestion with petechiae marks of the internal side of the right frontal scalp, with moderate congestion and few petechiae marks at the level of the lungs. The histopathological examination showed non-specific passive congestion, with no abnormalities. The cause of death was attributed to accidental suffocation following obstruction of external airways by the mother’s breast during breastfeeding. Accidental asphyxia cases require extensive investigation of the circumstances surrounding death, reconstruction of events, and careful documentation of the findings observed at autopsy with full histological examination which may become relevant in a specific case in later stages of the investigation.

L’accueil d’une victime d’agression soulève pour le médecin certains problèmes éthico-juridiques dont la résolution doit être envisagée au cas par cas. Entre l’obligation de dénoncer à la justice l’atteinte à l’intégrité de patient et de garder le secret médical, l’intérêt de la victime risque d’être perdu de vue par le médecin. Cet intérêt réside également dans la rédaction d’un certificat médico-légal matérialisant les blessures subies et pouvant servir d’élément de preuve dans un éventuel procès contre l’auteur de l’agression. Cet article rappelle les implications médico-légales de la prise en charge d’une victime d’agression physique et définit les grandes lignes de la rédaction d’un certificat de coups et blessures.

Dans notre société où le monde carcéral est longtemps resté un sujet tabou en raison de la violence qu’il représente, l’état de santé des prisonniers reste une priorité de la société. Le principe d’équité conduit à soigner des personnes privées de liberté aussi bien que d’autres. Malgré les conditions difficiles du milieu de détention, l’exercice de la médecine n’échappe pas aux règles de la déontologie. Les médecins sont soumis aux mêmes principes que dans tout autre mode d’exercice. Ainsi, la qualité des soins doit être assurée, tout en respectant les personnes, avec notamment une grande vigilance quant au secret médical. Prendre soin des prisonniers n’est pas une simple évidence. En effet, dès qu’il s’agit de droits quelconques, les détenus sont généralement relégués. Par ailleurs, la pratique d’une médecine dans le strict respect de ses règles déontologiques est un exercice difficile, voire impossible, auprès du patient détenu. Elle présente une spécificité liée, d’une part, aux caractéristiques de la population qui s’y trouve et, d’autre part, à l’environnement particulier que représente la prison, institution sécuritaire regroupant des individus sanctionnés par la justice. Cependant, les principes déontologiques généraux doivent s’appliquer et servir de guide pour assurer les meilleurs soins aux patients1.

Introduction The coexistence of congenital cardiovascular anomalies provides valuable insights into the intricate nature of human cardiac anatomy and its potential interactions with underlying health conditions. This case report presents an autopsy analysis of a diabetic patient manifesting both a patent foramen ovale and a Chiari network.Case presentation A 26-year-old male with a history of type 2 diabetes mellitus was admitted with post cardiac arrest. He died despite resuscitative efforts. Autopsy revealed notable findings including a patent foramen ovale and a Chiari network. Post-mortem biochemical markers indicated elevated HbA1c level and hyperglycaemia. The absence of cryptogenic strokes or paradoxical embolism prompted exploration into potential relationships between these anomalies and metabolic disturbances, and prompts a discussion about whether the observed anatomical variations could potentially serve as risk factors contributing to the patient's death due to complications of diabetes.Conclusion The co-occurrence of a patent foramen ovale and a Chiari network within a diabetic patient, accompanied by elevated HbA1c level and hyperglycaemia, offers a unique perspective on the convergence of congenital cardiovascular variation and metabolic health. The juxtaposition of these anomalies with biochemical markers underscores the intricate interplay between cardiac morphology and metabolic conditions.

Facial expressions are one of the most natural and powerful means for the human being in his social communications, whether to share his internal emotional states or to display his moods or intentions, which, in fact, may be true or simply played in a theatrical way. Given the numerous and variety of applications that can be easily planned, building a system able to automatically recognising facial expressions from images has been an intense field of study in recent years. In this paper, we propose a new framework for automatic facial expression recognition based on combined features and deep learning method. Before the feature extraction, we use Haar feature-based cascade classifier in order to detect then crop the face in the images. Next, we extract pyramid of histogram of gradients (PHOG) as shape descriptors and local binary patterns (LBP) as appearance features to form hybrid feature vectors. Finally, we use those vectors for training deep learning algorithm called deep belief network (DBN). The experimental results on publicly available datasets show promising accuracy in recognising all expression classes, even for experiments which are evaluated on more than seven basic expressions.

The improved particle filter based simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) has been developed for many robotic applications. The main purpose of this article is to demonstrate that recent heterogeneous architectures can be used to implement the FastSLAM2.0 and can greatly help to design embedded systems based robot applications and autonomous navigation. The algorithm is studied, optimized and evaluated with a real dataset using different sensors data and a hardware in the loop (HIL) method. Authors have implemented the algorithm on a system based embedded applications. Results demonstrate that an optimized FastSLAM2.0 algorithm provides a consistent localization according to a reference. Such systems are suitable for real time SLAM applications.

La mission de l’expert est clairement définie par le juge qui le désigne. Ainsi, il est appelé à exécuter sa mission en toute impartialité en respectant un arsenal de principes procéduraux et de règles déontologiques, pour répondre aux questions posées.

La scintigraphie au sestamibi et l’échographie sont utilisés pour la localisation préopératoire de l’adénome parathyroïdien (APT), avec une sensibilité allant jusqu’à 90 %. À propos d’un cas, nous rapportons l’intérêt de l’IRM dans la localisation de l’APT après une scintigraphie MIBI négative.
