A recent study conducted at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil examined the effects of different cleaning procedures on dentin wear during endodontic retreatment. The study used microcomputed tomography (micro-CT) to evaluate the dentin wear caused by passive ultrasonic irrigation (PUI) and easy clean (EC) instruments. A recent study conducted by researchers at Ardabil University of Medical Sciences focused on the prevalence of Candida albicans in root canals of retreatment cases and its association with endodontic symptoms. The study used real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) with the SYBR Green I system to identify Candida albicans in the samples. The results showed a significant relationship between the presence of Candida albicans and radiographic findings in endodontically treated teeth, but no significant relationship with clinical symptoms. A patent was issued for an endodontic system and instrument designed for the irrigation and disinfection of a tooth root canal. The system aims to thoroughly clean all aspects of the root canal system to prevent post-treatment failures and bacterial leakage.
