Noting the lack of design studies and history programs in Canadian universities, where studio design approaches predominate, this paper proposes that Canadian design history needs to find an alternative method to the traditional chronology that traces the rise and triumph of the Modern, as the growing awareness of global histories of design leads us to adapt broader methods. In an era defined by U.S.-China great power strategic competition, a central theme of Xi's foreign policy has been a recalibration and realignment of relations with Asian countries in order to effectively counter the U.S. role in Asia. As a result, China has adapted its policy to pursue a closer alignment with a like-minded Russia, to improve relations with India to prevent a potential U.S.-India alliance in Asia, to steer the souring relations with Japan toward cooperation, and to consolidate Southeast Asia as part of China's sphere of influence. The castle of Castile will be shown in its parallel evolution with the lion of León. Both began as emblems which evolved into heraldic devices. The initial reluctance to place these emblems on shields continued to manifest itself even in the era of heraldry. The lion was first used as a personal emblem by Alfonso VII (d.1157) of León who placed it on banners, coins, and likely also on his signa, the animals having earlier been used as a symbol of monarchy by his ancestors. The lion was first used in a clear heraldic context by his son Ferdinand II (d.1188) of León in the 1180s. Alfonso VIII (d.1214) of Castile adopted the castle as an emblem of his kingdom on his seal of 1170 and also on coins. The first use of the castle in an heraldic context on a shield is datable to his reign, but a precise chronology cannot be elucidated. His seals are unusual in that the castle is used to represent the kingdom instead of the customary figure of the enthroned monarch. The castle became widely disseminated in European heraldy, while in thirteenth century Iberia artistic motifs from the conquered territories enabled the prestige and prowess of Castile to be expressed visually with striking use of Castilian heraldic emblems, often presented in repetitive patterns. The lion of León later lost its imperial connotations and became a secondary family emblem which was borne among others by illegitimate descendants of the royal house as well as by royal concubines. In this brief, we consider the multiagent optimization over a network where multiple agents try to minimize a sum of nonsmooth but Lipschitz continuous functions, subject to a convex state constraint set. The underlying network topology is modeled as time varying. We propose a randomized derivative-free method, where in each update, the random gradient-free oracles are utilized instead of the subgradients (SGs). In contrast to the existing work, we do not require that agents are able to compute the SGs of their objective functions. We establish the convergence of the method to an approximate solution of the multiagent optimization problem within the error level depending on the smoothing parameter and the Lipschitz constant of each agent’s objective function. Even for those pages that do have a date stamp, various versions and installations of Internet Explorer may not display the correct date stamp. One solution is to use a Show Date bookmarklet. As an alternative, just check the page in Netscape, Mozilla, or Firefox and use the Page Info display. A variety of search options can help identify the date of some web pages. With so many sites not reporting an actual date stamp, the last indexing date may be the only date information that a search engine knows.
