ABSTRACTRecurring expressions and idiolectal speech patterns are often used by the scriptwriters of sitcoms to portray the personality of some of the characters. These expressions, which in many cases end up becoming popular, are so significant that they need be kept in the translated versions of these series. A corpus-based script analysis method that detects these recurring expressions and idiolectal speech patterns semi-automatically has been successfully tested in a professional environment. It has also been piloted in a translation classroom twice in the form of a task-based teaching unit consisting of four tasks: a preliminary task, two analyses or pre-translation tasks and one final translation task. In this article we: (1) describe typical AVT trainer profiles; (2) comment on publications dealing with corpus-based AVT training; (3) explain a corpus-based script analysis method designed to optimise time, effort, resources and coherence when translating multi-season series; and (4) present the corpus-based teaching unit, including task sheets and a tutorial, plus the results of a questionnaire study carried out after the implementation of the method described.

Nuestro objetivo es valorar la asociación entre estos 2 trastornos y, a su vez, su presencia en dependencia de la terapia dopaminérgica.

A rapid and simple analytical capillary zone electrophoresis (CZE) method has been developed and validated for quantitative determination of atypical antipsychotic drug risperidone in commercially available film-coated tablets. CZE was performed in an uncoated fused-silica capillary 40.2 cm total length x 75 μm i.d. (30 cm effective length) using a 20 mmol mL-1 sodium phosphate solution containing 0.1% triethylamine (v/v), pH 2.5 adjusted with ortho-phosphoric acid as background electrolyte. The applied voltage was +28 kV and UV detection at 236 nm, nitrazepam was used as internal standard (IS). Under these conditions, the separation of risperidone was achieved in less than 2.5 min. The method was validated and response was found to be linear with determination coefficient better than 0.999. The repeatability and intermediate precision expressed as relative standard deviation were less than 1.5 %. The accuracy, resulting from recovery experiments, was between 98.84 and 101.24 %. The active pharmaceutical ingredient was subjected to acid, alkaline and neutral hydrolysis and oxidative stress conditions. No interference from degradation products and also from tablet excipients was observed. The method was simple, precise and fast and could be successfully applied for determination of risperidone in pharmaceutical dosage forms and can be used for routine analysis in pharmaceutical industries. Furthermore, the method can be used as a stability-indicating method.

Once life appeared, it evolved and diversified. From primitive living entities, an evolutionary path of unknown duration, likely paralleled by the extinction of unsuccessful attempts, led to a last common ancestor that was endowed with the basic properties of all cells. From it, cellular organisms derived in a relative order, chronology and manner that are not yet completely settled. Early life evolution was accompanied by metabolic diversification, i.e. by the development of carbon and energy metabolic pathways that differed from the first, not yet clearly identified, metabolic strategies used. When did the different evolutionary transitions take place? The answer is difficult, since hot controversies have been raised in recent years concerning the reliability of the oldest life traces, regardless of their morphological, isotopic or organic nature, and there are also many competing hypotheses for the evolution of the eukaryotic cell. As a result, there is a need to delimit hypotheses from solid facts and to apply a critical analysis of contrasting data. Hopefully, methodological improvement and the increase of data, including fossil signatures and genomic information, will help reconstructing a better picture of life evolution in early times as well as to, perhaps, date some of the major evolutionary transitions. There are already some certitudes. Modern eukaryotes evolved after bacteria, since their mitochondria derived from ancient bacterial endosymbionts. Once prokaryotes and unicellular eukaryotes had colonized terrestrial ecosystems for millions of years, the first pluricellular animals appeared and radiated, thus inaugurating the Cambrian. The following sections constitute a collection of independent articles providing a general overview of these aspects.

The temperature dependence of the quadrupole hyperfine parameters covering the temperature range from 293 to 1173 K has been measured at 181Ta probes in SrHfO3by perturbed angular correlation spectroscopy. A fluctuating distribution of quadrupole interactions model has been applied to interpret the data. At low temperatures above ∼300 K a static, asymmetric, and distributed electric quadrupole interaction was detected. At intermediate temperatures (≈600 K) a different quadrupole interaction appears, characterized by a fluctuating distribution of axially symmetric electric field gradient tensors. Above 873 K, the unique presence of a nuclear spin relaxation machanism shows a second change in the perturbation acting on probes. These changes in the hyperfine interaction are consistent with the structural phase transitions detected by diffraction techniques. The probe effects were also analyzed, comparing 181Ta with 111Cd experiments.

The thermal dependence of the hyperfine quadrupolar interaction of181Ta at Zr sites in K2ZrF6 has been studied by TDPAC between RT and 511 °C. Four phases of ever increasing symmetry have been found in the range RT-437 °C. The possible existence of a healing mechanism with an activation energy of 0.187±0.040 eV is discussed for the lattice recovery in the range 270 °C–335 °C. The results at temperatures above 437 °C can be understood assuming a thermal decomposition of the compound.

Summary Mercury(II) in the presence of a large excess of thiocyanate forms a violet colour with Rhodamine B. The complex formed can be stabilized by addition of poly(vinyl alcohol), and forms the basis for a spectrophotometric method for determination of trace amounts of mercury. The calibration graph for measurement at 610 nm is linear in the range 1–15µg of mercury per 25 ml, with a molar absorptivity of 1.1×105l· mole-1·cm·. The effect of foreign ions has been studied and the method can be applied to the determination of mercury in air with reliable analytical results.

There is evidence that the cholinergic system modulates, in a circadian and asymmetric way, the neural activity involved in the regulation of ovulation. In the present study we measured choline acetyltransferase (ChAT) activity during the oestrous cycle in both sides of the preoptic-anterior hypothalamic area (POA-AHA) of the rat. The right side of POA-AHA showed significant changes in ChAT activity during the oestrous cycle. The activity of the enzyme was higher in the right side on the day of oestrous (47.3 ± 3.2 nmol mg−1protein 1 h−1vs25.8 ± 2.4, p< 0.05), whilst on the second day of dioestrous the activity was higher in the left one (30.6 ± 3.4 vs20.0 ± 1.5). The differences in the activity of ChAT observed support the idea of the existence of asymmetry in the POA-AHA cholinergic system which varies during the oestrous cycle.

Pulsed field gel electrophoresis (PFG) has been used to study the genomic organization of the halophilic archaeon Haloferax mediterranei. Analysis of the different genomic elements as well as the restriction patterns obtained with several endonucleases revealed that this microorganism has a circular chromosome of 2.9 Mb and, at least, three extrachromosomal elements of 490, 320 and 130 kb respectively. The complete physical map of the chromosome for the endonucleases PacI and BamHI has been constructed, and several BcII, BgIII and DraI restriction fragments have been aligned on these maps. The localization of heterologous and homologous genes on the physical map, including those for rRNA, lay the ground work for the construction of a genetic map.
