Researchers from Nanjing Forestry University in the People's Republic of China have developed a multifunctional air filter paper with flame retardant, antibacterial, and hydrophobic properties. The paper was prepared using chemical treatment with pre-synthesized N, N-biguanide-diethyl phosphonic acid (AGDEPA) and octadecyl trichlorosilane (OTS). The air filter paper demonstrated self-extinguishing behavior, met industry standards for flame retardant materials, and showed high efficiency in killing E. coli and S. aureus bacteria. The addition of mercerized fibers also improved the air permeability of the filter paper. This research has been peer-reviewed and published in the Journal of Environmental Chemical Engineering. Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to study conducted electromagnetic interference (EMI) of the high-low voltage DC/DC converter based on GaN high-electron-mobility transistors (HEMTs) in electric vehicle, and design EMI filters to suppress the conducted EMI. Design/methodology/approach: The conducted EMI propagation model is established through simulation and analysis studying the influences of parasitic parameters, operation mode, output power and near-field capacitive coupling effects on conducted EMI of the DC/DC converter and comparing the suppression effects of EMI filters with different topologies to select the best EMI filter. Findings: It is shown that parasitic parameters, operation mode, output power and near-field capacitive coupling effects can affect the conducted EMI of the DC/DC converter, and EMI filters of the CLC topology can effectively suppress the conducted EMI below the limit of CISPR 25. Originality/value: Analysis of conducted EMI and design of EMI filters greatly facilitate further explorations and studies on EMI problems of the high-low voltage DC/DC converter based on GaN HEMTs. This paper proposes an adaptive event-triggered fault detection filter to warn of faults happening to unmanned surface vehicles in a network. First, the unmanned surface vehicle is modeled as a Markovian jump system which makes allowances for the influences of waves or other disturbances. Then, a fault detection filter is developed to produce crucial residual signals, despite disturbances and denial-of-service attacks. Inputs of the designed filter originate from a resilient adaptive event-triggered mechanism, of which the threshold can be adjusted for saving valuable network resources and mitigating adverse influences of denial-of-service attacks. By using the residual signals, detection evaluation functions are established and a detection logic algorithm is devised. Under this framework, the co-design of both the fault detection filter and the adaptive event-triggered scheme is given. A patent application has been submitted for a portable air filter that can disinfect the air from pathogens, including viruses like SARS-CoV-2. The invention combines a heat-resistant filtering stage with high-heat stages of air purification to destroy pathogens suspended in the air. The filter uses heated open-cell foam and can be used in a normal-sized room. It aims to provide effective air disinfection without excessive warming of the air and requires a small amount of energy.
