En este capítulo se presenta un modelo general para la anotación multinivel de corpora de texto literario. Por multinivel se hace referencia a la combinación, en un mismo corpus, de información de diferentes niveles de descripción lingüística o literaria, desde datos relacionados con palabras o sílabas, hasta cuestiones temáticas, textuales o pragmáticas. El objetivo final de un corpus de estas características es fijar un posible análisis literario, por lo que se considera como una edición digital enriquecida. Se defienden cuatro características que un corpus de texto literario debe cumplir: interoperabilidad, perspectivismo, unidad y claridad/sencillez. Se da cuenta de los principales problemas de formalización en un corpus multinivel de este tipo: la combinación de diferentes formalismos de representación y, en el caso de XML, el problema de un anidamiento incorrecto. Finalmente se propone un modelo para un corpus de poesía del Siglo de Oro., This paper presents a general model for the multilevel annotation of a literary corpus. Multilevel refers to the combination of information from different linguistic or literary levels in the same corpus: from word related data to thematic, textual or pragmatic questions. The objective is to fix a possible literary analysis. To be considered an enriched digital edition, an annotated corpus must meet four characteristics: interoperability, perspectivism, unity and clarity/simplicity. The main formalization problems are discussed: the combination of different representation formalisms and, in the case of XML, the improper nesting. Finally, a model for a corpus of poetry from the Spanish Golden-Age is proposed.

Electronic Theses and Dissertations (ETDs) are digital versions of academic theses and dissertations. These documents exhibit the research and findings of master’s or doctoral-level students. ETDs are typically a requirement for graduation and are accessible online through university repositories or academic databases. ETDs are an integral contribution to scholarly work as they make research accessible to a global audience. Their length, which can range to hundreds of pages, allows inclusion of helpful details, but can be a challenge to readers. This project’s goal was to build on the previous teams’ work by first analyzing the existing machine-learning models and determining how they can be improved. We accomplished this by familiarizing ourselves with optical character recognition (OCR) and object detection (OD). Next, we each generated XML files and analyzed the robustness of the OD model. In the case of errors, we made annotations to seven ETDs to provide training data to further improve the OD model. We studied the existing Postgres database, and how to better integrate it with the knowledge graph (KG). We ran into issues with the API calls responsible for posting the ETD metadata to Postgres, so we had to modify the API calls and restructure the ETD metadata table. Once a valid XML document has been created, it can be analyzed and enhanced with IDs in the Postgres database. This process involves converting the XML file, which contains correctly inserted object IDs, into a JSON file, and subsequently into RDF triple format. These RDF triples are then uploaded to the Virtuoso database to constitute our knowledge graph. The KG stores the objects as nodes, and the edges represent the relationships between the objects. We worked to improve the pipeline from XML to KG, and recommended further work to ensure correctness and scalability.

This bachelor thesis presents a comparative analysis between XML Views (XML+Kotlin) and Jetpack Compose (Kotlin), focusing on picture-based applications across varying demand levels: low, medium, and high. Through the development and evaluation of three distinct applications for each toolkit, we used Macrobenchmark and Android Profiler to collect their performance in terms of startup time, frame timing metrics, and hardware resource utilization, including CPU, battery, and memory usage. Our findings reveal that XML Views maintain certain advantages over Jetpack Compose, particularly in terms of startup time and frame timing metrics. However, our analysis also highlights notable benefits of Jetpack Compose, particularly in memory usage. Despite the overall advantage of XML Views, Jetpack Compose demonstrates the potential for optimization in specific resource-intensive scenarios. This research contributes to the ongoing discourse surrounding the selection of a UI toolkit for Android application development, providing insights into the performance characteristics of XML Views and Jetpack Compose in picture-based applications across varying demand levels. Our findings offer practical guidance for developers in making informed decisions regarding UI toolkit selection, considering both performance and resource utilization considerations.

I dagens digitala samhälle är snabb prestanda avgörande för webbplatser eftersom användare tenderar att undvika långsamma sidor. En snabbare webbplats ökar användarupplevelsen och engagemanget, särskilt med tanke på att användare ansluter från olika enheter och platser, vilket kan påverka laddningstiderna. Aquesta aplicació està destinada a usuaris que siguin lectors habituals de llibres, i els hi permet emmagatzemar informació sobre els llibres que llegeixen, tal com en quin punt de la lectura es troben, les seves impressions personals a cada moment, paràgrafs del mateix text, imatges i altres. MyReadNotes facilita als lectors la incorporació de nous llibres a la seva llista personal per mitjà de l’ús de la GoogleBooks API. També els hi permet afegir paràgrafs sense haver-los d’escriure gràcies a la llibreria MLKit. El present document descriu la motivació i els objectius del projecte, analitza altres aplicacions similars que han servit com a font d’inspiració, i explica el seu desenvolupament, des de la part visual o frontend fins a la gestió de les dades o backend. S’expliquen les tecnologies emprades, la base de dades, la llibreria utilitzada per al reconeixement de text, i l’API necessària per a implementar la cerca dels llibres. El document inclou diverses imatges de les pantalles, logos usats, que són útils tant per acabar de transmetre les possibilitats que ofereix l’aplicació i el seu flux de procés, com a base per a un possible tutorial. Finalment, hi ha un apartat d’anàlisi econòmica sobre el cost del projecte, un apartat de conclusions, i un a on es consideren possibles extensions que serien interessants de cara al futur., This project consists of the development of an application for Android devices called "MyReadNotes". This application is intended for users who are regular readers of books, and allows them to store information about the books they read, such as where they are in the reading, their personal impressions at each moment, paragraphs of the text itself, images And others. MyReadNotes makes it easy for readers to add new books to their personal list by using the GoogleBooks API. It also allows them to add paragraphs without having to write them, thanks to the MLKit library. This document describes the motivation and objectives of the project, analyzes other similar applications that have served as a source of inspiration, and explains its development, from the visual side or frontend to the data management or backend. The technologies used, the database, the library used for text recognition, and the API needed to implement the book search are explained. The document includes several images of the screens, logos used, which are useful both to finish conveying the possibilities offered by the application and its process flow, and as a basis for a possible tutorial. Finally, there is a section of economic analysis on the cost of the project, a section of conclusions, and one where possible extensions are considered that would be interesting for the future.

Our team’s main objective was to expand the Virtuoso database by integrating a comprehensive dataset of 500,000 enriched Electronic Theses and Dissertations (ETDs). We built upon the preliminary framework of 200 XML records used for initial testing. This database expansion would enable the developers to deploy more robust testing and analysis of the current Knowledge Graph database. Additionally, our team focused on standardizing the data expansion process, ensuring that future developers have a consistent and reliable foundation for their work. The current Knowledge Graph was established with the Virtuoso graph database system. We primarily worked on four steps to expand the KG database, including inserting Object IDs into each element in XML files, converting XML files to RDF triples, uploading RDF triples to the Virtuoso database, and URI resolution. We leveraged the power of Python, along with its robust libraries (rdflib, sparqlwarpper, requests, xmltodict, Node.js, NPM, tkinter) and tools (REST API, Docker) to execute these steps. Initially, our team successfully tested the data expansion process on a local Virtuoso instance to ensure the functionality and correctness of the expanding procedure. We prepared to deploy the process on the Virtuoso database within the Endeavour cluster upon confirmation. Although we successfully expanded the database by 333 ETDs, we were unable to reach our target of 500,000 ETDs due to a shortage of XML data. This limitation made us refocus our efforts on refining the data expansion process for better standardization and future scalability. We streamlined the data expansion process by integrating the Object ID insertion, data conversion, and data uploading processes into a single GUI application, creating a more straightforward and compact workflow. This visual interface would enhance usability for future developers and teams.

The current scene of Digital Scholarly Editions, particularly those concerning modern manuscripts, registers a trend towards documentary and diplomatic editions. This “bédierian” tendence leads to editions focused mainly on the diplomatic transcription of the source, lacking in consideration about the genetic process. Lying under this situation we could figure out the existence of digital tools and languages more adequate to this documentary approach. In addition to that, this article is aimed at showing the concrete problems in representing the diachronic elaboration of the text in a digital form, through methodological considerations and examples of realisation. Despite the widespread trend and the difficulty in choosing a different way, it seems possible to reflect on genetic digital editions from an optimistic perspective. In fact, these editions are not only necessary, at least for certain textual situations, but also feasible, as shown by some ongoing projects and experiments (Saba 2021, VaSto 2022 and Il Conte di Carmagnola), presented at the end of the contribution.

This thesis explores the differences in UI performance between Jetpack Compose, a modern declarative UI toolkit, and traditional XML in the context of UI design for native Android applications. The aim is to provide developers with insights into the potential tradeoffs associated with each approach, particularly in terms of the end user experience. In order to achieve this, a series of benchmark tests were conducted on two prototype applications: one developed with XML and the other with Jetpack Compose, in order to evaluate the UI performance in various scenarios of real-world use cases. The data collected was subsequently analyzed and discussed, in order to evaluate which UI design approach delivers better performance for the end user. The test results indicate that Jetpack Compose and XML excel at different use cases. Jetpack Compose is demonstrated to have faster app startup time and rendering time for navigation and animation, whereas XML delivers smoother and faster rendering time when scrolling through a layout. Notably, Jetpack Compose has also shown an improvement in UI performance since previous works were conducted., Den här studien utforskar skillnaden i användargränssnitt-prestanda mellan Jetpack Compose, ett modernt deklarativt användargränssnitt verktyg, och traditionell XML i kontexten av användargränssnitt design för nativa Android applikationer. Syftet är att förse utvecklare med insikter om de potentiella avvägningar som är förknippade med varje tillvägagångssätt, särskilt när det gäller slutanvändarupplevelsen. För att uppnå detta genomfördes en serie prestandatester på två prototyp applikationer: en utvecklad med XML och den andra med Jetpack Compose, för att utvärdera användargränssnitt-prestandan inom olika scenarier av verkliga användningsfall. Den insamlade datan analyserades och diskuterades sedan för att utvärdera vilken användargränssnitt-design metod som levererar bättre prestanda för slutanvändaren. Testresultaten indikerar att Jetpack Compose samt XML presterar bättre vid olika användningsfall. Jetpack Compose har visat sig ha snabbare applikations starttid och renderingstid för navigering och animering, medan XML ger smidigare och snabbare renderingstid vid skrollning genom en layout. Framför allt har Jetpack Compose dessutom visat en förbättring i användargränssnitt-prestanda sedan tidigare arbeten utfördes.

Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) has been the traditional approach for configuring and monitoring network devices, but its limitations in security and automation have driven the exploration of alternative solutions. The Network Configuration Protocol (NETCONF) and Yet Another Next Generation (YANG) data modeling language significantly improve security and automation capabilities. This thesis aims to investigate the feasibility of implementing a NETCONF server on the Anybus CompactCom (ABCC) Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) Security module, an embedded device with limited processing power and memory, running on a custom operating system, and using open source projects with MbedTLS as the cryptographic primitive library. The project will assess implementing a YANG model to describe the ABCC’s configurable interface, connecting with a NETCONF client to exchange capabilities, monitoring specific attributes or interfaces on the device, and invoking remote procedure call (RPC) commands to configure the ABCC settings. The goal is to provide a proof of concept and contribute to the growing trend of adopting NETCONF and YANG in the industry, particularly for the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) platform of Hardware Meets Software (HMS).

Romarias are Christian pilgrimages that occur in order to celebrate a specific saint. Romaria de Nª Srª d'Agonia (RNS Agonia, for short) occurs aimed at celebrating Nossa Senhora da Agonia, patron of all Fishermen, at Viana do Castelo, Portugal. RNS Agonia is a very old event that surely belongs to the Minho’s Cultural Heritage. There are many written documents, of various types, that describe the event; so, their digital preservation is mandatory. However, digital preservation is not restricted to a database of digital images obtained by scanning the documents. In this paper we are concerned with digital repositories of XML-based annotated documents from which we can extract automatically data to build a virtual museum that helps on disseminating information about RNS Agonia. Such a Web resource is crucial to support people wishing to know more about that pilgrimage, and also as a booster for tourism. The paper describes the different stages of this project, including the documents annotation process, data extraction mechanisms, the creation of a triple storage to archive the knowledge built from the sources analyzed, and the virtual museum implementation. The methodological approach devised for the project under discussion is based on the creation of an ontology that describes the RNS Agonia domain completely. The idea is to define the XML dialect, to be used in the annotation, from the ontology. Moreover the ontology will also lead the definition of the triple store used to set up the knowledge base that feeds the museum.

The manuscript The Hague, Koninklijke Bibliotheek, 75 H 57 is a one-column paper manuscript, which was probably made in Holland and, based on watermark research, must be dated around 1442. The content includes thirteen rhymed texts very different in nature and content. The previous editor of the text collection, Eelco Verwijs, characterized it as a whole with the title Van vrouwen ende van minne (Of women and love), but this designation only covers part of the contents. Indeed, some texts deal with courtly love and manners, others, on the other hand, are notable for comical anecdotes or sharp satire, such as a mockery of peasants and the quasi-by-laws for a guild of unsocials called the Blauwe Schuit (Blue Barge). We also find texts with a didactic tendency, and a cluster of rhyming maxims. The language differs from text to text. In addition to Dutch, a certain German coloring also regularly occurs, to varying degrees per text. At the beginning of the nineteenth century, this collection of texts was found as loose quires in the archives of the Egmond monastery by former state archivist Van Wijn. In 1821 he had it bound at his own expense. The manuscript is written in a littera cursiva by two collaborating copyists, A (f. 1r1-f. 27r1) and B (f. 27r2-f. 67v20). It consists of 6 quires, of which the first quire, originally a quintern, has lost its first leaf. Of the other quires, all sexterns, the last quire is missing the outer double leaf. In addition to these defects, the manuscript has numerous textual faults. Apart from obvious text corruption, whole sections are missing at the beginning or end of some texts. It is remarkable that copyist A, who in all likelihood was responsible for the final editing, signaled the breaking off of a text in several places by writing down closing formula’s like ‘Amen dico vobis’, ‘Amen sit laus’ or similar words. The Vanden Stock Manuscript (Brussels, KBR, II 116) is a small fifteenth-century manuscript counting 39 leaves made of paper with eight different watermarks, and can be divided in three codicological units, all written by the same scribe in an idiosyncratic hand. An examination of this hand and its corrections in the margins suggests that all units were copied for private use. The first unit (f. 1-22) – which lacks the first and eighth leaves of the first quire, and therefore the beginning of the first text – contains three clusters of texts: first three lists (questions and answers, advice on table manners and an excerpt from Seghelijn van Jherusalem); second three texts on the final judgement (memento mori) and the apocalyptic events surrounding it (a.o. an excerpt from Lucidarius); third several groups of sayings in which religious topics are present but not the main focus. Another text about the finality of life (Van tijtverlies) closes this unit. The second unit (one bifolio: f. 23-24) contains another group of sayings. The third unit (f. 25-37) contains a verse translation of the seven penitentiary psalms. Only after it was decided that the three units should be bound together, the final bifolio (f. 38-39), containing a single text, was added to the codex. This text, a so-called abc-darium, is the only prescriptive text in the codex, stressing its overall function: a collection of texts containing useful information concerning everyday life and the afterlife. The name giver of this codex, Olivier vanden Stock, was a sixteenth-century owner of the manuscript who wrote his name in de lower margin of f. 5r.

The paper codex handschrift-Serrure (Brussels KBR, II 144) codicologically and substantively consists of a number of parts: the first part (f. 1r–165v) is written by the hands A, B and C; the hands w, x, y and z each added a small text. The second part (f. 166r–169v) was copied by hand D. All hands are from the sixteenth century, only hands y and z are from the seventeenth century. Most of the codex is by hand A (f. 1r–113v), who possibly wrote around 1555 in the Dutch-German border area between Sittard, Maastricht and Aachen. The copyist used written sources for his collection of texts; he partly determined the systematic division of the text groups and chose clearly contemporary secular and spiritual texts with themes such as love and friendship, honor and happiness, wealth and poverty, death and life. Some Latin inscriptions and pseudo-Latin texts could indicate student use. The part of hand A mainly contains rhymed sayings and epigrams, sacred and secular songs, proverbs, love questions with answers, cisioiani, farcical sermons and parodies of prescriptions. Many texts are intended to be didactic or moralistic. After the texts of hand A a few leaves were originally left blank (f. 114r–121r). Then hand B (f. 121v–148r) wrote a large number of High German riddles, which are also known from the Straßburger Rätselbuch. After that hand C wrote on the leaves left blank (f. 114r–120r) love songs and spells. This hand C also wrote a collection of prescriptions after the riddles of hand B (f. 149v–165v). Finally hand D (f. 166r–169v) wrote a smaller collection of prescriptions for horses. It is unclear if this last quire was added to the codex when it was bound. Hands B, C and D all wrote at the end of the sixteenth century in a Dutch-German border dialect that can be found somewhat more northerly than the dialect of hand A.

The Heber-Serrure manuscript (Ghent, University Library, Ms. 1374) is a miscellany containing Middle Dutch rhyming texts, mostly ethical and didactic in content. Although the manuscript is not explicitly dated or localized, there is ample reason to assume that the codex was compiled near the end of the fourteenth century in the Carthusian monastery of Herne (about 18 miles southwest of Brussels). For a variety of reasons, this codex deserves our attention (and a new, modern edition), as it continues to fascinate both philologists and book historians. Until now, the Heber-Serrure manuscript has been primarily valued because of the many unique texts which it contains, including sizable excerpts from the Spiegel historiael (the Middle Dutch adaption of Vincent of Beauvais’ Speculum historiale) as well as a number of rare strophic poems by Jacob van Maerlant, but also the Rinclus. All of these works have already been edited in the past, based on the Heber-Serrure codex. These historic editions, however, were often heavily critical in orientation and appeared in isolation from one another, thus hindering our view on the joint survival of these works, as well as the original context in which this book was produced and meant to function. The present diplomatic edition aims to correct this situation. From the point of book history too, the Heber-Serrure manuscript present us with a remarkable object for scholarly study: the manuscript only contains rhyming texts, but these have been copied as continuous prose, most likely to save space (and time). Moreover, the available evidence suggests that the text collection wasn’t copied from a prior witness: in this manuscript, we can almost literally peak over the scribe’s shoulder, because we are dealing with a ‘growth miscellany’ that was composed in distinct phases, even though these phases were not meticulously planned beforehand. The year 2023 marks the thirty-second anniversary of the World Wide Web being announced. In the intervening years, the web has become an essential part of the fabric of society. Part of that is that huge amounts of information that used to be available (only) on paper is now available (only) electronically. One of the dangers of this is that owners of information often treat the data as ephemeral, and delete old information once it becomes out of date. As a result society is at risk of losing large parts of its history. So it is time to assess how we use the web, how it has been designed, and what we should do to ensure that in one hundred years time (and beyond) we will still be able to access, and read, what we are now producing. We can still read 100 year-old books; that should not be any different for the web. This paper takes a historical view of the web, and discusses the web from its early days: why it was successful compared with other similar systems emerging at the time, the things it did right, the mistakes that were made, and how it has developed to the web we know today, to what extent it meets the requirements needed for such an essential part of society's infrastructure, and what still needs to be done.

[Resumen]: El objetivo principal de este proyecto es el desarrollo de una aplicación móvil para Android usando Kotlin que permita a cualquier persona interesada en empezar un pequeño negocio realizar algunas de las operaciones básicas más esenciales sin hacerse cargo de grandes gastos o de asumir una curva de aprendizaje demasiado elevada. Para lograr este fin, se hará uso de diversas herramientas y tecnologías que permitirán desarrollar una aplicación completa desde cero y plenamente funcional. Se buscará obtener funcionalidades de inventario, ventas, pedidos, gestión de calendarios laborales de empleados, notificaciones integradas y estadísticas. Para la ejecución final de dicho proyecto solamente será necesario un teléfono móvil/emulador, dado que lo único que se necesitará a mayores son los servicios de Firebase que nos proporcionará Google. Dichos servicios se utilizarán para almacenar los datos necesarios de la aplicación y para simplificar la lógica correspondiente a la autenticación., [Abstract]: The main objective of this project is the development of a mobile Android application using Kotlin that allows anyone interested in starting a small business to carry out some of the most essential operations without incurring large expenses or the requirement of a too high learning curve. To achieve this end, various tools and technologies will be used to develop a complete application from scratch and fully functional. It will seek to obtain functionalities of inventory, sales, orders, management of calendars of labor employees, integrated notifications and statistics. For the final execution of a such project, only a mobile phone/emulator will be necessary, since the additional Firebase services required for the application are directly provided by Google. These services will be employed to store the application data and simplify the business logic corresponding to the authentication issues.

It is evident the growth of the use of eXtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL) technology in the context of financial reports on the Internet, either for its advantages and benefits or by government impositions, however, the data to be transported by this language are mostly stored in structures defined as database, some relational other NoSQL. The need to integrate XBRL technology with other data storage technologies has been growing continuously, and research is needed to seek a solution for mapping data between these environments. The possible difficulties in integrating XBRL with other technologies, relational database or NoSQL, CSV files, JSON, need to be mapped and overcome. Generating XBRL documents from the database can be costly, since there is no native alternative that the database manager system exports from the database manager system, the data in XBRL. For this, specific third-party systems are needed to generate XBRL documents. Generally, these systems are proprietary and have a high cost. Integrate these different technologies adds complexity, since these documents do not connect to the database manager system. These difficulties cause performance and storage problems and in cases of large data, such as data delivery to government agencies, complexity increases. Thus, it is essential to study techniques and methods that allow us to infer a solution to perform this integration and/or mapping, preferably in a generic way, that includes the XBRL data structure and the main data models currently used, i.e. Relational DBMS, NoSQL, JSON or CSV files. It is expected, in this work, through a systematic literature review, to identify the state of the art concerning the mapping of XBRL data.

Mätdatat lagras i skördspecifika XML-filer och görs tillgängligt för de som är involverade i skörden. Problemet är att dessa filer tenderar att bli extremt stora och svårtydda för någon som söker en överblick av en specifik skörd. Detta projekt har gått ut på att undersöka huruvida Biometrias data kan visualiseras och på så sätt förtydligas. Undersökningen resulterade i utvecklingen av en prototyp av en webbapplikation som tar emot en skördefil och visualiserar vissa mätdata från den. Den slutgiltiga prototypen bestod av en punktkarta som visar var stammarna fälldes, två cirkeldiagram som visar proportioner av trädarter samt sortiment av stockar, och ett stapeldiagram som visar max, minimi och medelvärden av stammarna och stockarnas diametrar. Resultatet var lyckat, eftersom de anställda på Biometria som resultatet presenterades för var överens om att visualiseringen bidrog till en mycket högre förståelse av den data som visualiserades., Data visualization is a common method to increase the understanding of data by converting it from text to image. Through data visualization, a large amount of data can be transformed into diagrams and images that helps giving a user a clear understanding of what the data represents. The member-owned company Biometria operates in the forest industry and is tasked with measuring forest products, such as tree trunks and logs. The measurement data is stored in harvest-specific XML-files and are made available for those involved in the harvest. The problem is that these files tend to get extremely large and difficult to read for someone who wants an overview of a specific harvest. This project has aimed to investigate whether Biometria's data can be visualized and thus clarified. The study resulted in the development of a prototype of a web application that receives a harvest file and visualizes some measurement data from it. The final prototype consisted of a dot map showing where the trees were felled, two pie charts showing proportions of tree species and assortment of logs, and a bar chart showing the maximum, minimum and mean values of the trees and log diameters. The result was successful, since the employees at Biometria for whom the result was presented all agreed that the visualization contributed to a much higher understanding of the data that was visualized.

Avui en dia, les dades genòmiques es representen en diferents formats de fitxer. El genoma és un dels tipus d'informació més sensible que hi ha i, per tant, té uns requisits de seguretat i privadesa molt estrictes. Aquest projecte està centrat en el desenvolupament de la segona versió de l'arquitectura modular anomenada Genomic Information Protection And Management System (GIPAMS) que implementa l'estàndard MPEG-G (ISO/IEC 23092 Genomic Information Representation). En concret, s'ha adaptat la primera versió afegint-li nous mòduls i refent d'altres per tal d'incorporar la possibilitat de protegir i xifrar les dades genòmiques. Addicionalment, s'han introduït mecanismes de control d'accés a la informació. D'aquesta manera, només els usuaris autoritzats poden treballar amb els recursos per als quals tenen permís. Per altra banda, a part d'implementar l'estàndard MPEG-G, en aquesta versió s'introdueix l'estàndard Crypt4GH i els algoritmes que defineix per xifrar i compartir dades genòmiques. Finalment, s'ha revisat el conjunt de l'arquitectura des d'un punt de vista de seguretat seguint els consells de Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP) per garantir que no es donen els riscos de seguretat més habituals identificats per aquesta organització., Nowadays, genomic information is currently represented in different file formats. Genomic data is one of the most sensitive types of information one can find. Therefore, it has very strict security and privacy requirements. This project is focused on the development of the second release of the modular architecture called Genomic Information Protection And Management System (GIPAMS) that implements the MPEG-G standard (ISO/IEC 23092 Genomic Information Representation). In particular, the first release has been adapted in order to add new modules and redo others to provide the ability to protect and encrypt genomic data. In addition, access control mechanisms have been put in place so that only users allowed to access specific resources can do it. Moreover, in addition to the MPEG-G standard implementation, this release introduces the Crypt4GH standard and the algorithms it defines for encrypting and sharing genomic data. Finally, the entire architecture has been revised in terms of security, following the Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP) advice to ensure that the most common security risks identified by this organization do not occur.

Is it possible to increase traffic flows and decrease stand stills in rush hour traffic by tweaking existing traffic light signals? A vehicle’s engine running on idle is not useful in physical terms and emits unnecessary exhausts. By investigating and observing signal phase times on site in Hangzhou, China, an effort was made to find out if it was possible to get better flow and thus lower emissions by changing the traffic signal programs. The Simulation of Urban MObility suite developed by the German Aerospace center, DLR, was used to simulate traffic. Three scenarios were simulated. Scenario one tried to find better and smoother flow by reducing the duration of the traffic signals’ phase times. Scenario two allowed both extended and reduced signal phases. Scenario three was based on already existing signal phase times. The findings will show that it is possible to obtain increased throughput of vehicles if some green signal phases and thus cycle times are shortened. This translates as shorter time spent in congested traffic, which results in lower emissions per vehicle.

Our basic argument is not to force the underlying XML data to incorporate fuzziness. Rather, fuzziness is smoothly supported in a novel plug and run manner via a wrapper. Either the user specifies the membership functions for the elements/attributes to be queried as fuzzy, or multi-objective genetic algorithm is used to automatically decide on and optimize the membership functions. As the database is dynamic and updates are very frequent, there is no guarantee that existing membership functions will continue to properly reflect the current database state; this is identified when the cluster homogeneity deviates by a threshold. For the former case, the user will receive a warning; and for the latter case, the system will automatically adjust the clustering and the membership functions. The interface of VIREX has been expanded to allow specifying queries with fuzziness. Then, queries expressed in VRXQuery empowered with fuzziness are translated into corresponding XQuery code, which is run on the underlying XML and the returned result is translated into a fuzzy representation; translation into SQL is also possible. WebsiteSocialNetworksBritain is a project designed to create a HTML website from an input of forty thousand XML records. These XML records describe historical British and American figures and their connections to each other through family, associates, and organizations. The client has built these records and wishes them to be viewable on a website. Per specifications, the website must be built using no third-party services. The final Java program consists of two parts: reading the XML records into a data structure and providing the ability to search the according to appropriate criteria. The program uses a binary search tree to store the forty thousand records and creates a pop-up menu to select the records the user wishes to view. The pop-up menu allows the user to search through the records and find previously unseen connections between the historical figures.

Electronic theses and dissertations (ETDs) contain valuable knowledge that can be useful in a wide range of research areas. To effectively utilize the knowledge contained in ETDs, the data first needs to be parsed and stored in an XML document. However, since most of the ETDs available on the web are presented in PDF, parsing them is a challenge to make their data useful for any downstream task, including question-answering, figure search, table search, and summarizing. For information search and extraction, contextual information is needed to perform these tasks. However, such semantic information is hidden in PDF documents. In contrast, XML can explicitly share semantic information. The structure within XML documents can enforce semantic continuity within the tag elements. Accordingly, knowledge graphs can be more easily built from XML, rather than PDF, representations. The goal of this project was to extract different elements of scholarly documents such as metadata (title, authors, year), chapter headings and subheadings, equations, figures (and captions), tables (and captions), and paragraphs, and then package them into an XML document. Subsequently, a pipeline responsible for the conversion and a dataset to support the object detection step was developed. Over the semester, 200 ETDs, both born-digital and scanned, were annotated using a online tool called RoboFlow. A model based on Facebook’s open-sourced object detection model, Detectron2, was trained with the created dataset. Besides that, a pipeline that utilizes the model has been built that converts an ETD in PDF into an XML document, which can then be used for future downstream tasks and HTML for visualization. A dataset consisting of 200 annotated ETDs and a working pipeline were delivered to the client. "From Keel to Truck" is a vast trilingual (English, French, German) dictionary that was highly successful in the late 19th century. In it, author Heinrich Paasch—building on a long tradition of marine dictionaries—develops an original terminographical method, heralding the theorising of this discipline in the 20th century. His book lends itself well to digitisation, and foreshadows the basics of terminological knowledge bases: a conceptual approach, reliance on semantic relationships, and a close attention to divergences between languages.The "From Keel to Truck" dictionary (Paasch 1901) is easy to convert to a Terminological Markup Language (TML) that adheres to the “concept – language – term” architecture promoted by the ISO 16 642 (2017) standard, Terminological Markup Framework (TMF). The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Form 990 is filed by nonprofit organizations, such as tourism offices, recording financial information, contributors, officers and their positions, grants, and various other information about the organization. Starting in 2011, many of these forms were electronically filed into Extensible Markup Language (XML) format and were made public on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) and IRS websites. Although this information is available to the public, XML files are difficult to read. There can be over 1,000 lines of tax jargon in the XML files. Dr. Zach realized this and approached Dr. Fox with the TaxData project. The goal of this project is to convert tax data in flat file and XML file format into a readable format and run some preliminary analyses. TaxData was first introduced into the CS 4624: Multimedia, Hypertext, and Information Access capstone class during the Spring 2022 semester. A group of students worked on this project from January 2022 to May 2022. I have picked up this project for the Fall 2022 semester to make some improvements. The report outlines my work on the project through: Objectives, Deliverables, Requirements, Design, Implementation, Testing, User Manual, Developer's Manual, and Lessons Learned.
