- Abstract
The influence of the development of information technology makes it easier for anyone to share and obtain information, one of which is information regarding the COVID-19 vaccination. The RI Ministry of Health has provided information regarding COVID-19 vaccination in the form of a WEBGIS, however, the website still has several deficiencies such as the unavailability of data on COVID-19 vaccination achievements per sub-district and village, does not provide information regarding the distribution of vaccination locations and routes to vaccination locations, and does not provide a form for registration of vaccinations. Therefore, we need a system that can overcome these deficiencies, especially for the City of Banda Aceh. This WEBGIS development uses Laravel as a Framework, Leaflet as a library and MariaDB as a database. The COVID-19 Vaccination WEBGIS for Banda Aceh City can provide information on vaccination achievements per sub-district and village in the form of graphs and thematic maps which are grouped into 3 color classes according to vaccination achievements. In addition, this WEBGIS also provides information on the distribution of vaccination locations along with routes to these locations. This WEBGIS also makes it easier for people who want to vaccinate because a form is available to register for vaccination. The Health Office also gets convenience in terms of data management and printing of vaccination data. WEBGIS has carried out usability testing on users. This usability test involved 30 respondents using 30 questions from the USE (Usefulness, Satisfaction, and ease of use) Questionnaire method which were divided into 4 sections. The results of this WebGIS test obtained an average score of 88.67%, which means that this WEBGIS is included in the very decent category.

- Abstract
Seagrasses are angiosperm plants that are completely adapted to life in seawater. They are distributed widely across the climatic regions, ranging from the tropics to temperate regions, in both inter-tidal and sub-tidal zones. Multiple ecosystem services are recognized as being supported by seagrass meadows, which recently has included appreciation role in carbon sequestration. Seagrass meadows, however, have been degraded in both terms of area and habitat quality across the globe, leading to a significant loss of ecosystem services and human livelihood support. This ongoing degradation has resulted in an urgent need to develop tools for assessing the temporal changes of extant meadows and accurate estimation of seagrass biological parameters, which will contribute to a sustainable conservation strategy into the future. This thesis describes the use of a range of freely available Earth observation products, including multi-spectral imagery from Landsat and Sentinel-2, and synthetic aperture radar (SAR) products from Sentinel-1, coupled with a range of machine learning (ML) and meta-heuristic optimization algorithms, to develop novel and advanced techniques for remote sensing of seagrass. The work used field validation data from Tauranga Harbor, New Zealand, and specifically targeted mapping, change detection, and estimation of seagrass distribution and biomass. The relatively small and patchy meadows of Zostera muelleri in this harbor can be mapped using a three-category classification (dense, sparse and none) with up to 91% accuracy for dense and 75% for sparse meadows using the machine learning algorithm Rotation Forest with Sentinel-2 imagery. Despite a slightly lower accuracy (90%), the algorithm Canonical Correlation Forest also shows merit for categorical seagrass mapping. Historic Landsat multispectral satellite data used with ML models was able to map accurately the change in distribution of seagrass meadows over 29 years (1989 - 2019). For this binary mappi

- Abstract
Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) target 7.2 requests a substantial increase in the share of renewable energy in the global energy mix by 2030. Renewable energy production in all sectors has to be evaluated for its contribution to reach this target. Biomass for energy production has gained a bad reputation over the past years due to the “food versus fuel” debate or reported unsustainable practices. The BIOPLAT-EU project is employing geoinformation technologies combined with sustainability and economic expertise to more accurately evaluate the sustainability of bioenergy value chains. The project has three main parts: first, the generation of a pan-European map of marginal, underutilized, and contaminated (MUC) lands potentially usable for bioenergy production. This is realized by employing remote sensing time series, existing Copernicus, and other spatial data sets. Second, the generation of a web-based geographical information system (GIS) connecting the MUC lands with other important information sources necessary to assess sustainability. Thisrd, the sustainability assessment includes not only typical social and environmental sustainability indicators like soil, water, or greenhouse gas emissions, but also economic sustainability indicators like employment. Current financial barriers are addressed by integrating innovative financing solutions considering SDG target 12.A., Version of record

- Abstract
This study focuses on using cognitive principles in design, trying to resolve four problem areas (PA)found in the map layer panel of Umeå municipality’s webGIS. In a first step cognitive findings thatcould serve as principles for implementing design choices were identified. Four low fidelity (lo-fi)prototypes were created. The lo-fi prototypes were tested using think aloud tasks and asemi-structured interview. Six participants, three expert and three novice users were recruited.Participants’ opinions and thoughts were gathered to enable the development of a high fidelity (hi-fi)prototype. The hi-fi prototype was based both on the lo-fi test results and the identified cognitiveprinciples. The hi-fi prototype was again tested using think aloud tasks and a semi-structuredinterview. Three experts along with three novice participants were recruited. Opinions and thoughtsfrom the test were transcribed and categorized using combined deductive and inductive coding. Theresults of the analysis were used to answer our research question: does the use of cognitiveprinciples in designing the map layer panel of Umeå municipality's webGIS resolve the previouslyidentified usability issues? While two of the PAs seems to have been resolved in the new design, forthe other two there still seems to be some unresolved issues. It can be discussed if the unresolvedissues were due to lack of functionality of the prototype or inadequacy of the cognitive principles., Denna studie har fokuserat på att använda kognitiva principer i design, för att försöka lösa de fyraproblemområden (PO) som finns i kartlagerpanelen i Umeå kommuns webGIS.

- Abstract
We document and show a state-of-the-art methodology that could allow geoheritage sites (geosites) to become accessible to scientific and non-scientific audiences through immersive and non-immersive virtual reality applications. This is achieved through a dedicated WebGIS platform, particularly handy in communicating geoscience during the COVID-19 era. For this application, we selected nine volcanic outcrops in Santorini, Greece. The latter are mainly associated with several geological processes (e.g., dyking, explosive, and effusive eruptions). In particular, they have been associated with the famous Late Bronze Age (LBA) eruption, which made them ideal for geoher-itage popularization objectives since they combine scientific and educational purposes with ge-otourism applications. Initially, we transformed these stunning volcanological outcrops into geo-spatial models—the so called virtual outcrops (VOs) here defined as virtual geosites (VGs)—through UAV-based photogrammetry and 3D modeling. In the next step, we uploaded them on an online platform that is fully accessible for Earth science teaching and communication. The nine VGs are currently accessible on a PC, a smartphone, or a tablet. Each one includes a detailed description and plenty of annotations available for the viewers during 3D exploration. We hope this work will be regarded as a forward model application for Earth sciences' popularization and make geoheritage open to the scientific community and the lay public.

- Abstract
A university campus is an intricate infrastructure. Especially new students, who are thereon for the first time, have a tough time orienting themselves and finding places. The campus of Andhra University occupies more than 422 acres (170.7 hectares). The campus has many different buildings. Every year, thousands of new students join the university. These students either take a campus commuter or walk around to get familiar with the campus compound. Visitors to Andhra University might have a hard time searching for a particular location on the campus. Every day, uncountable numbers of students, staff, and visitors move around the campus compound to perform tasks by walking, cycling, driving, or riding campus commuters. Even if there are maps at various points on the campus premises, users do not have continuous help to reach their destination. On these static maps, they can try to figure out a way to get to their target, but as soon as they start walking in the target direction, they have no help anymore. The main objective of this study is to develop a Spatial Information System for Andhra University (a Progressive Web App). Which provides several features like a voice-enabled optimal navigation solution, shows nearby places within campus premises, and a geo-tagged university (Geo-tagging of all entities within campus premises). To make the web application more operative, the application is appended with more features. For instance, a map shows statistical data with pie charts visualization (statistical data like monthly attendance), machine learning's image recognition model for extracting the building information from the digital or captured images.

- Abstract

- Abstract
Suitable technologies support an effort of citizens to improve their neighbourhood e.g. by reporting problematic issues on a public infrastructure. Citizens are able to identify problematic issues in their environment faster than local governments because they live in a particular place and they are interested in the quality of their life. A citizen reporting tool (CRIsPI) should provide an easy way of reporting problems (issues), seeing already reported issues and seeing feedback. Various tools are used in the Czech Republic: phone, e-mail, Web form, WebGIS, and mobile applications. Case study evaluates penetration of CRIsPI tools in the Czech Republic in July 2018 among municipalities over 1 000 inhabitants. It provides both a detail view in a form of maps and basic descriptive statistics. E.g. all municipalities over 50 000 inhabitants provide at least one CRIsPI tool to inhabitants. Several municipalities provide a combination of more tools. Small municipalities more frequently provide phone or e-mail communication or a Web form only., Vhodné technologie podporují snahu občanů o zlepšení prostředí v jejich sousedství, např. ohlašováním problémů na veřejné infrastruktuře.

- Abstract
The landscape of the surroundings of the Melka Kunture prehistoric site, Upper Awash Basin, Ethiopia, were studied intensively in the last decades. Nonetheless, the area was mainly characterized under a stratigraphic/geological and archaeological point of view. However, a detailed geomorphological map is still lacking. Hence, in this study, we identify, map and visualize geomorphological forms and processes. The morphology of the forms, as well as the related processes, were remotely sensed with available high-resolution airborne and satellite sources and calibrated and validated through extensive field work conducted in 2013 and 2014. Furthermore, we integrated multispectral satellite imagery to classify areas affected by intensive erosion processes and/or anthropic activities. The Main Map at 1:15,000 scale reveals structural landforms as well as intensive water-related degradation processes in the Upper Awash Basin. Moreover, the map is available as an interactive WebGIS application providing further information and detail (www.roceeh.net/ethiopia_geomorphological_map/).

- Abstract

The Segretariato regionale dell’Emilia Romagna, a peripheral institute of Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities, has developed for a few years the WebGIS Geodatabase, which allows a detailed knowledge of own area of responsibility. The database was born after the earthquake of 2012 as an instrument for technicians engaged in damage recognition, and it has increased own functions over time. Especially, after Franceschini’s ministry reform (DPCM 171/2014) which has conferred authority for tourism on Segretariati regionali, it has developed aspects and services (Tourer platform) for territory promotion and its cultural identity in term of widespread sustainability and access. For this purpose, the Segretariato began some partnerships and alliances with other actors at the regional and national level, actives on the local promotion and development (Club Alpino Italiano, Touring Club Italiano, Azienda Promozione Turistica della Regione Emilia Romagna), and started productive cooperation with Wiki world. This paper describes these activity results. In this specific context, it is necessary also to highlight the synergy with the Bologna and Parma centers of National Library Service through it cultural goods recorded in WebGIS are enriched with bibliographic data qualitatively relevant and architectural items present in the OPAC of two centers have a link to the WebGIS record relating to the good.

- Abstract
This paper studies the estimated losses of soil by water erosion in the municipality of Nis ( Serbia). The assessment of losses is determined by USLE method integrated with GIS technology, which provides a simple and fast processing capabilities and data analysis. This study showed that the average intensity of erosion in the municipality of Nis is 8.48 t ha(-1) year(-1), which puts the municipality in the class of moderately threatened by erosion. The applied methods provide easy determination of sites which are potentially exposed to erosion and provide a starting point for erosion conservation practices. The paper presents the possibility of displaying the final results via interactive map using WebGIS technology, which provides a visual representation of the geometric and attribute data stored within spatially oriented databases.

- Abstract
Rural electrification in developing countries is often hampered by major information gaps between local communities and urban centers, where technical expertise and funding are concentrated. The tool presented in this paper addresses these gaps to support the implementation of off-grid micro hydropower infrastructure. Specifically, we present a method to site, size and evaluate the potential for micro hydropower based on remote sensing data. The method improves on previous approaches by (i) incorporating the effect of hillslope topography on the optimal layout of the infrastructure, and (ii) accounting for the constraints imposed by streamflow variability and local electricity demand on the optimal size of the plants. An assessment of the method's performance against 148 existing schemes indicates that it correctly identifies the most promising locations for hydropower in Nepal, but does not generally reproduce the specific design features of constructed plants, which are affected by site-specific constraints. We develop a proof-of-concept computer tool to explore the potential of webGIS technology to account for these constraints by collecting site-specific information from local users.

- Abstract
The Italian national project, NEXTDATA, is focused to favour the implementation of measurements networks in remote mountain and marine areas and develop efficient database structure to archive and access meteoclimatic and paleoclimatic proxies derived from ice core, marine core, tree ring and pollen. They give precious information about the evolution of anthropogenic pollution, climate variability and about the composition of middle troposphere. The main object of this work is to develop the Ice core DataBase (IDB), an interoperability architecture based on a spatial database that contains physical and chemical characterization data about non-polar ice core. The principal scope is to build an efficient web portal where paleo-scientist can easily and quickly access to specific proxy data useful for paleoclimatic analysis. The ice core geographic information is useful to evaluate the glacier suitability for ice core drilling of mountain glaciers and to reconstruct the last 2k of Italy climatic history. Starting with an accurate bibliography research we managed to collect a great amount of ice core data and metadata that were essential to study a suitable methodology to reach the study goals. Data collected were integrated in an information system through specific web services. The developed applications were based on open source software tools such as PostgreSQL and PostGIS for database, Geoserver and Leaflet for webGIS. The geospatial services were implemented with the technical specifications proposed by OGC and INSPIRE standards in order to maximize data interoperability.

- Abstract
Changing school district borders in a Danish municipality can be a long and cumbersome process since it involves several departments and different layers of decision-making of both technical and political nature. The changes are made in desktop GIS software and involve several statistics calculations to support the argument for district changes. By moving to a webGIS application as Sweco’s Spatial Suite and automate the geometry and statistics calculations in the database, the elaborate work can be changed to be easy, efficient and less error-prone for the user. Moreover, the changes can be made by an end-user without specialised GIS knowledge, moving the responsibility of the districts editing from the GIS department to the school department. This project is carried out with the case of the municipality of Rødovre, Denmark. The project’s development includes configuration of a database setup with geospatial topology and triggers in a PostGIS database. Moreover, a new module to handle the edits in Spatial Suite is developed. The final prototype has been evaluated with representatives from the municipality of Rødovre. The overall goal is to build a setup that will help to make the process of district changes easier and more efficient in the future, and make it a generic setup that Sweco can apply to other customer.

- Abstract
La piattaforma web e la banca dati geografica sono state integralmente realizzate con prodotti e software Open Source., The digitization of the Gregorian Urban Cadastre of Rome (Catasto Gregoriano Urbano di Roma) has started about ten years ago thanks to the funding by the Cariplo Foundation, and it is now in its final stage. The project has been implemented by the Department of Urban Studies of the “Roma Tre” University, the Archivio di Stato di Roma, the Sovrintendenza Capitolina and the Archivio Capitolino. The research has allowed to reconstruct the archaeological and urban image of Rome in the pre- and post-unification periods. The maps and registers of the Gregorian Cadastre represent the basis of the Geographic Information System (GIS), which has been linked to maps and documents from other sources: the 1748 map of Rome by G. B. Nolli, a substantial number of datasheets from archive documents related to buildings and archeology, other iconographic documents concerning the architecture of the old town. The project has a dual purpose: on the one hand, the implementation of a GIS able to store, manage and disseminate data about the historic city from different sources; on the other, the activation of a participatory and educational web tool open to a wide audience, not only to researchers and scholars of this particular field. The web platform and the geographic database have been fully implemented with Open Source products and software., Peer Reviewed

- Abstract
A high-speed data structure is researched to solve the problem that existing data structure can not support the multi-scale representation of landscape map data on ubiquitous WebGIS. The necessity of the index is analyzed, the algorithm presented, the possibility of supporting landscape map disscussed. In this index, the main tree is obtained from the deformation of the index structure of region quadtree partitioned on the basis of the rule of pyramid structure; a sub-tree structure supports the overlap of landscape map data. The index reflects the changes in spatial resolution according to the depth of the tree. All the nodes of the tree are containers of spatial object. For evaluation, comparative experiments are implemented using our index structure, the result shows that this index method can represent massive landscape map data effectively in WebGIS. The structure has been used in city landscape map on WebGIS and in campus landscape map on mobile phone.

- Abstract
Scientific summary The increasing prevalence of natural disasters is driving people to pay more and more attention to emergency management. Progress in catastrophe analysis capabilities based on Geographical Information System (GIS) may allow the needs of public participation to be considered. Synchronous data sharing between citizens and emergency workers could effectively promote the process of decision making. This thesis introduces an interactive web-based application which mainly deals with flood risk management in Kamloops in Canada. The application is built for citizens and emergency workers using three layers: (1) the client side is developed in HTML and JavaScript; (2) the web server layer, which connects the users and the database, is implemented in PHP; and (3) the database contains PostgreSQL, GeoServer and OSM. Except the city map, PostgreSQL stores the spatial information with the support of OpenGIS. Generally, the application meets the initial objectives. Citizens can access present shelter information and register their own requirements for shelter, while emergency workers have the power to manage all the shelters and warehouses based on the available flood information and figure out the supply allocation solution based on the response from the public. On the other hand, the application also provides useful routing functions for both citizens and emergency workers, such as searching the available shortest path to a shelter, and computing the optimized allocation routes between all the shelters and warehouses. This practical study proved that Public Participation GIS (PPGIS), combined with IT knowledge, can provide very useful tools for decision making when facing a flood risk., Popularized summary Nowadays, the growing prevalence of natural disasters is driving people to pay more and more attention to emergency management. - Abstract
