Bewegungsfördernde Geräte wie Laufband, Schreibtischfahrrad oder stromerzeugende Räder können vor, während oder nach intensiven Lernphasen genutzt werden, um Konzentration zu steigern, sich zu bewegen und eine stimulierende Lernumgebung in der Bibliothek schaffen. Der Lernort Bibliothek ist bedeutsam für das Lernen, die Lehre und die Forschung. Neben moderner Infrastruktur und bequemen, flexiblem Raummobiliar können bewegungsfördernde Geräte am Lernort Motivation & Bewegung für die Studierenden bewirken. In einer mehrwöchigen Teststellung mit verschiedenen Standorten wurde ein stromerzeugendes Fahrrad in der Philologischen Bibliothek aufgestellt., Exercise-enhancing devices such as treadmills, desk bicycles or power-generating wheels can be used before, during or after intensive learning phases to increase concentration, exercise and create a stimulating learning environment in the library. The learning space of the library is important for learning, teaching and research. In addition to modern infrastructure and comfortable, flexible room furniture, movement-enhancing devices at the learning location can provide motivation and movement for the students. A power-generating bicycle was set up in the Philological Library in a test position lasting several weeks at various locations.

This paper presents a detailed description of LIRIC (LIdar-RadiometerInversionCode) algorithm for simultaneous processing of coincident lidar and radiometric (sunphotometric) observations for the retrieval of the aerosol concentration vertical profiles. As the lidar/radiometric input data we use measurements from European Aerosol Research Lidar Network (EARLINET) lidars and collocated sunphotometers of Aerosol Robotic Network (AERONET). The LIRIC data processing provides sequential inversion of the combined lidar and radiometric data. The algorithm starts with the estimations of column-integrated aerosol parameters from radiometric measurements followed by the retrieval of height dependent concentrations of fine and coarse aerosols from lidar signals using integrated column characteristics of aerosol layer as a priori constraints. The use of polarized lidar observations allows us to discriminate between spherical and non-spherical particles of the coarse aerosol mode. The LIRIC software package was implemented and tested at a number of EARLINET stations. Intercomparison of the LIRIC-based aerosol retrievals was performed for the observations by seven EARLINET lidars in Leipzig, Germany on 25 May 2009. We found close agreement between the aerosol parameters derived from different lidars that supports high robustness of the LIRIC algorithm. To assess information about the optical, microphysical, and radiative properties of aerosol particles the lidar technique and sun photometers are commonly used. Information that result from both lidar and sun photometer data can provide a distinct image of the vertical aerosol properties. The algorithm developed at the Institute of Physics of the National Academy of Science of Belarus (IPNASB) uses lidar measurements at the three wavelengths 355, 532, and 1064 nm and mean backscatter and extinction coefficients retrieved from radiometric data to obtain profiles of fine-mode and coarse-mode concentrations. Within the master thesis the IPNASB algorithm was tested for specific aerosol situations. Three cases are considered representing Saharan dust, smoke and industrial aerosol from East Europe, and volcanic aerosol from the Eyjafjallajokull eruption. The retrieved microphysical aerosol properties are in good to acceptable agreement with findings of well-established methods.

Postpartum depression was thought to be an important component of maternity blues and was the factor explored in this study. Sleep was hypothesized as a factor affecting either the occurrence or severity of postpartum depression. Hence, the purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between sleep deprivation and postpartum depression. Twenty patients were interviewed one to three weeks prior to their expected dates of delivery. The Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory Depression scale was administered during the interview and each patient kept a record of her hours of sleep during the following week. Each patient again kept a record of her hours of sleep for the first five to seven days after delivery until the researcher visited the patient in her home and re-administered the Depression scale. Regression and correlation coefficients were computed for the following pairs of variables: (1) prepartum Depression scale T scores and prepartum sleep record averages, (2) postpartum Depression scale T scores and postpartum sleep record averages and (3) the difference between prepartum and postpartum Depression scale T scores and sleep deprivation for each patient. None of the regression or correlation coefficients were statistically significant. The findings of this study do not support the hypothesis asserting a relationship between postpartum depression and sleep deprivation.
