The notion that emotion and media require more studies is undisputed. Media today are emotion generators: the football World Cup in Qatar, COVID-19 and the pandemic management in the global arena, the war between Russia and Ukraine, the influx of refugees on the Mediterranean coasts that cause tension between the European Union countries, and the latest Climate Change Convention hosted in Egypt (COP27) may fill us with anxiety, fear, and even worries. In addition, the news produced and shared through social media also impacts society, giving rise to primary emotions that, on many occasions, result in a reaction of acceptance, rejection, or even commitment. For example, the president of Ukraine seeks to develop positive feelings—empathy and compassion—on a global level with messages through social networks, such as: “We are grateful to everyone for supporting our values, for believing in Ukraine, and our victory. We feel that the world is supporting Ukraine, and this gives us strength in our struggle.” (@ZelenskyyuA, 5th of November 2022).This exemplifies the colossal variety of emotions presented and distinguished through media platforms and also evoked by its users all around the globe. These examples not only reveal the need to research emotions from an interdisciplinary lens—philosophy, sociology, psychology, anthropology, media, and communication—but also lead us to transcend interpretive barriers related to ethics and objectivity, understand the existing nuances in the new interactions between the media and the audience; where sometimes, the audience ends up being placed in the center of the scene.Returning to emotions, it is important to understand that they are presented as a fundamental component of social reality and they allow us to structure—in a certain sense, order—the world based on the distinction between closeness and distance. Global warming and climate change are driving an alarming increase in the frequency and intensity of different abiotic stresses, such as droughts, heat waves, cold snaps, and flooding, negatively affecting crop yields and causing food shortages. Climate change is also altering the composition and behavior of different insect and pathogen populations adding to yield losses worldwide. Additional constraints to agriculture are caused by the increasing amounts of human-generated pollutants, as well as the negative impact of climate change on soil microbiomes. Although in the laboratory, we are trained to study the impact of individual stress conditions on plants, in the field many stresses, pollutants, and pests could simultaneously or sequentially affect plants, causing conditions of stress combination. Because climate change is expected to increase the frequency and intensity of such stress combination events (e.g., heat waves combined with drought, flooding, or other abiotic stresses, pollutants, and/or pathogens), a concentrated effort is needed to study how stress combination is affecting crops. This need is particularly critical, as many studies have shown that the response of plants to stress combination is unique and cannot be predicted from simply studying each of the different stresses that are part of the stress combination. Strategies to enhance crop tolerance to a particular stress may therefore fail to enhance tolerance to this specific stress, when combined with other factors. Here we review recent studies of stress combinations in different plants and propose new approaches and avenues for the development of stress combination- and climate change-resilient crops.

Male germline-specific thioredoxin domain containing 8 (TXNDC8; alias SPTRX3) accumulates indefective human spermatozoa. We assessed the efficiency of two-step semen purification inremoving spermatozoa carrying TXNDC8, and examined the relationship of TXNDC8 with theoutcomes of assisted reproductive therapy (ART), conventional semen parameters, and sperm DNA integrity in sperm chromatin structure assay (SCSA). Semen samples (n = 255) from 91 ART couples were screened in two independent trials, both including a two-step, gradient-and-swim-up separation procedure yielding A-samples (raw semen), B-samples (gradient separated), and C-samples (gradient-and-swim-up). The C-samples were used for intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) with morphologically selected spermatozoa (IMSSI). Percentage of TXNDC8-positive spermatozoaincreased progressively from A to B/C-samples in both trials. In the first trial (35 couples), the TXNDC8 correlated positively with sperm DNA fragmentation index (%DFI; r = 0.66) measured before separation, and negatively with sperm concentration (r = −0.57) and motility (r = −0.67), also taken before separation. The high DNA stainability index (%HDS) correlated with the percentage of spermatozoa lacking TXNDC8 (r = 0.68). Both SCSA and TXNDC8 parameters showed moderate correlations (r = 0.33–0.66) with blood serum levels of hCG on day 11 (Beta 1) and day13 (Beta 2) after oocyte retrieval. In the second trial (56 couples), fathers of multiplets had a significantly lower percentage of TXNDC8-positive spermatozoa in B-sample (gradient separationonly) compared to men who conceived a singleton pregnancy (p = 0.01) and those who produced no pregnancy (p = 0.02). Those multiplets’ fathers also had a significantly higher sperm concentration while their SCSA parameters did not differ from others. Chromatin remodeling, including histone post-translational modifications, during spermatogenesis can affect sperm quality and fertility, and epigenetic marks may therefore be useful for clinical evaluations of sperm. Together with histone hyperacetylation, the dimethylation of histone H3 on lysine K4 (H3K4me2) is also required during protamination. Accordingly, we evaluated the utilization of this epigenetic mark for the identification of sperm with decrease quality and immature chromatin. In this study, 99 semen samples, including 22 normozoospermic (N), 63 asthenozoospermic (A), and 14 oligoasthenozoospermic (OA) samples, were comprehensively analyzed with respect to H3K4me2 levels, DNA damage (DNA fragmentation index, DFI), and sperm immaturity (high DNA stainability, %HDS), as determined by a sperm chromatin structure assay using flow cytometry. We detected a significant relationship between H3K4me2 and %HDS (r = 0.47; p < 0.001). Furthermore, we observed negative correlations between H3K4me2 and sperm concentration, motility, and mitochondrial activity (p < 0.05). The increase in immaturity as semen quality decreased (N > A > OA) indicates the importance of chromatin immaturity and histone code deviations in sperm evaluations. Using various approaches, our study elucidated H3K4me2 as a molecular marker of sperm quality with potential use in reproductive medicine.

This report describes the first studies of inheritance of autoimmunity in inbred Palmerston North (PN) mice, a model of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Mating of PN mice with the nonautoimmune DBA/2 strain produced evidence that PN disease had a recessive mode of inheritance. When PN mice were crossed with autoimmune NZB mice, female offspring from both crosses developed anti-DNA antibodies and died prematurely with vasculitis, renal disease, and lymphomas. In contrast, reciprocal hybrid males had different patterns of mortality; PN/NZB males from the PN female x NZB male mating had moderately prolonged life spans, whereas NZB/PN males from the opposite cross (NZB female x PN male) had prolonged survival to the mean age of 104 weeks. To determine if testicular hormones were solely responsible for increased longevity in hybrid males, PN/NZB and NZB/PN mice were castrated at 2 weeks of age and compared to sham-operated littermate controls. Prepubertal castration did not influence longevity in PN/NZB males, but loss of gonadal hormones significantly reduced life spans in reciprocal NZB/PN males. Female hybrids were not affected by oophorectomy. Because castration changed disease expression only in male hybrids from the NZB female x PN male cross, it was concluded that parentage influenced sensitivity to the protective effects of male hormones. Although surgical sterilization had disparate effects on males, castrated PN/NZB and NZB/PN males consistently outlived oophorectomized females. The lack of clear-cut reversal of disease in males subjected to early castration suggested that nonhormonal, possibly genetic, factors contributed to longevity in both groups of male hybrids.

Dogs have an integral role in human society, and recent evidence suggests they have a unique bond that elicits a beneficial hormonal response in both dogs and human handlers. Here, we show this relationship has a dark side. Small population size during domestication and strong artificial selection for breed-defining traits has unintentionally increased the numbers of deleterious genetic variants. Our findings question the overly typological practice of breeding individuals that best fit breed standards, a Victorian legacy. This practice does not allow selection to remove potentially deleterious variation associated with genes responsible for breed-specific traits.

Introduction Rhenium-186 (t1/2 = 3.72 d) is very attractive for use as a theranostic agent in targeted radionuclide therapy (Eβ max = 1.072 MeV (> 76.6 %); Eγ = 137.2 keV)1. Previously published investigations of high specific activity 186Re production have utilized the 186W(p,n)186Re or 186W(d,2n)186Re reactions2-5. Our group is interested in the refinement and scale-up of the production of high specific activity 186Re by cyclotron irradiations of 186W with deuterons; including investigations of the most suitable target material. WO3 has been successfully used as a target material in proton irradiations by two other groups4,5. Further, the physical properties of WO3, such as the reported monoclinic with Pc space group, body centered cubic crystal structure6 and melting point of 1473 °C, made for an attractive target material as sintered and other more structurally robust pressed pellet target preparations could be explored. Thus, this study reports on the characterization and suitability of WO3 as a full-thickness target material for the deuteron production of 186Re. Materials and Methods Assessments of WO3 for target material suitability and structural integrity were made on thick targets (~1 g) prepared using both commercially available and converted WO3 by either uniaxially pressing (13.8 MPa) of powdered WO3 into an aluminum target support or by placing sintered WO3 pellets (1105 °C for 12 hours) into an aluminum target support. In some experiments, WO3 pellets were prepared by dissolution of Wmetal with H2O2, then treatment with 1.5 M HCl. The recovered hydrated WO3 was calcinated at 800 °C for 4 hours, allowed to cool to ambient temperature, pulverized with a mortar and pestle, uniaxially pressed at 13.8 MPa into pellets with a 13 mm die, and subsequently sintered in a tube furnace under flowing Ar at 1105 °C for 3, 6, and 12 hours. Introduction Radioisotopes play an important role in nuclear medicine and represent powerful tools for imaging and therapy. With the extensive use of 99mTc-based imaging agents, therapeutic rhenium analogues are highly desirable. Rhenium-186 emits therapeutic − particles with an endpoint-energy of 1.07 MeV, allowing for a small, targeted tissue range of 3.6 mm. Additionally, its low abundance γ-ray emission of 137.2 keV (9.42 %) allows for in vivo tracking of a radiolabeled compounds and dosimetry calculations. With a longer half-life of 3.718 days, synthesis and shipment of Re-186 based radiopharmaceuticals is not limited. Rhenium-186 can be produced either in a reactor or in an accelerator. Currently, Re-186 is produced in a reactor via the 185Re(n,γ) reaction resulting in low specific activity which makes its therapeutic application limited.[1] Production in an accelerator, such as the PETtrace at the University of Missouri Research Reactor (MURR), can theoretically provide a specific activity of 34,600 Ci.mmol−1 Re[2], which represents a 62 fold increase over reactor produced 186Re. The studies reported herein focused on the evaluation of accelerator-based reaction pathways to produce high specific activity (HSA) 186Re. Those pathways include proton and deuteron bombardment of tungsten and osmium targets by the following reactions: 186W(p,n)186Re, 186W(d,2n) 186Re, 189Os(p,α)186Re, and 192Os(p,α3n)186Re. Additional information on target design related to the determination and optimization of production rates, radionuclidic purity, and yield are presented. However, that reaction results in low specific activity, severely limiting the use of reactor produced 186Re in radiopharmaceuticals. It has previously been shown that high specific activity 186Re can be produced by cyclotron irradiations of 186W with protons and deuterons2,3. In this investigation we evaluated the 186W(d,2n)186Re reaction using thick target irradiations at higher incident deuteron energies and beam currents than previously reported. We elected not to use copper or aluminum foils in the preparation of our 186W targets due to their activation in the deuteron beam, so part of the investigation was an evaluation of an alternate method for preparing thick targets that withstand μA beam currents. Irradiation of 186W. Initial thick targets (~600-1100 mg) were prepared using 96.86% enriched 186W by hydraulic pressing (6.9 MPa) of tungsten metal powder into an aluminum target support. Irradiated targets were dissolved with H2O2 and basified with (NH4)2CO3 prior to separation using column(s) of ~100–300 mg Analig Tc-02 resin. Columns were washed with (NH4)2CO3 and the rhenium was eluted with ~80˚C H2O. Gamma-ray spectroscopy was per-formed to assess production yields, extraction yields, and radionuclidic byproducts. Silicon dioxide nanoparticles (5 nm diameter) marked with the fluorescent dye rhodamine 6G are used as probes. The distributions of diffusion coefficients, obtained by mean squared displacements, reveal heterogeneities with at least two underlying diffusion components. Measurements on films with varying film thicknesses show that the slower component is independent of the film thickness, while the faster one increases with the film thickness. Additionally, we could show that the diffusion behavior of the particles cannot be sufficiently described by only two diffusion coefficients.

Silicon dioxide nanoparticles (5 nm diameter) marked with the fluorescent dye rhodamine 6G are used as probes. The distributions of diffusion coefficients, obtained by mean squared displacements, reveal heterogeneities with at least two underlying diffusion components. Measurements on films with varying film thicknesses show that the slower component is independent of the film thickness, while the faster one increases with the film thickness. Additionally, we could show that the diffusion behavior of the particles cannot be sufficiently described by only two diffusion coefficients.

Biomarker-based sperm analysis elevates the treatment of human infertility and ameliorates reproductive performance in livestock. The negative biomarker-based approach focuses on proteins and ligands unique to defective spermatozoa, regardless of their morphological phenotype, lending itself to analysis by flow cytometry (FC). A prime example is the spermatid specific thioredoxin SPTRX3/TXNDC8, retained in the nuclear vacuoles and superfluous cytoplasm of defective human spermatozoa. Infertile couples with high semen SPTRX3 are less likely to conceive by assisted reproductive therapies (ART) and more prone to recurrent miscarriage while low SPTRX3 has been associated with multiple ART births. Ubiquitin, a small, proteolysis-promoting covalent posttranslational protein modifier is found on the surface of defective posttesticular spermatozoa and in the damaged protein aggregates, the aggresomes of spermiogenic origin. Semen ubiquitin content correlates negatively with fertility and conventional semen parameters, and with sperm binding of lectins LCA (Lens culinaris agglutinin; reveals altered sperm surface) and PNA (Arachis hypogaea/peanut agglutinin; reveals acrosomal malformation or damage). The Postacrosomal Sheath WWI Domain Binding Protein (PAWP), implicated in oocyte activation during fertilization, is ectopic or absent from defective human and animal spermatozoa. Consequently, FC-parameters of PAWP correlate with ART outcomes in infertile couples and with fertility in bulls. Assays based on the above biomarkers have been combined into multiplex FC semen screening protocols, and the surface expression of lectins and ubiquitin has been utilized to develop nanoparticle-based bull semen purification method validated by field artificial insemination trials. These advances go hand-in-hand with the innovation of FC-technology and genomics/proteomics-based biomarker discovery.

Although epidemiological and clinical evidence indicate health benefits of consuming various fatty acid classes including n-9, n-6, and short- and longer-chain n-3 fatty acids, current dietary recommendations fall short of providing the optimal amounts of these fatty acids in daily diets. In addition, significant knowledge gaps remain in our understanding of the effects of, and mechanisms underpinning the action of, the various fatty acid classes on risk factors for CVD. The objective of this research was to contribute to the evaluation of health benefits of using different dietary oils, and determine how these benefits may play a role in improving public health and decreasing CVD risk. Additionally, this research examined effects of diet-gene interactions, endogenous fatty acid ethanolamides (FAEs) on body fat mass distribution as well as changes in the composition of gut microbiota following consumption of dietary oil treatments. The Canola Oil Multicenter Intervention Trial (COMIT) was conducted as a 5-phase randomized, controlled, double-blind, cross-over clinical trial. Each 4-wk treatment period was separated by 4-wk washout intervals. A total of 130 volunteers with abdominal obesity consumed each of 5 identical weight-maintaining, fixed-composition diets with one of the following treatment oils (60 g/3000 kcal) in the form of beverages: 1) conventional canola oil (Canola; n-9 rich), 2) high–oleic acid canola oil with docosahexaenoic acid (CanolaDHA; n-9 and n-3 rich), 3) a blend of corn and safflower oil (25:75) (CornSaff; n-6 rich), 4) a blend of flax and safflower oils (60:40) (FlaxSaff; n-6 and short-chain n-3 rich), and 5) high–oleic acid canola oil (CanolaOleic; highest in n-9). Each 4-wk treatment period was separated by 4-wk washout intervals. Largely due to the theoretical weight given to the role of economic crisis, the existing literature on presidential approval in Peru offers a variety of competing explanations about the factors that account for presidential support. These competing explanations share one bond: they emphasize the absence of traditional economic voting. We argue here that the diversity of interpretations and empirical findings stem from the high degree of volatility experienced by economic indicators, and the failure of existing research to account for the time-dependent variance of presidential popularity. We analyze the impact of eco-nomic performance and key political events on the determination of presidential approval in Peru for the period 1985-2008 using an Exponential Generalized Autoregressive Conditional Heteroskedasticity (EGARCH) model. Our findings suggest that the effects of economic conditions on presidential approval ap-proximate more traditional economic voting postures than previously thought. To the extent that crisis-ridden economic conditions in Peru have helped to theorize the alleged departures from traditional economic voting, the country is an ideal case to revisit standing propositions in the literature, particularly in a moment when those crisis-ridden economic conditions have disappeared., Debido fundamentalmente al peso teórico asignado al papel de la crisis económica, la literatura existente sobre la aprobación presidencial en el Perú ofrece una distinta variedad de explicaciones sobre los diversos factores que afectan el apoyo presidencial. Analizamos el impacto del desempeño económico y eventos políticos significativos en la determinación de la popularidad presidencial en el Perú para el período 1985-2008 usando un modelo de heteroscedasticidad condicional autorregresivo generalizado exponencial (EGARCH). Nuestros hallazgos sugieren que los efectos de las condiciones económicas en la popularidad presidencial se aproximan más a las posturas del voto económico tradicional de lo que se creía previamente. En la medida que las condiciones de crisis en el Perú ayudaron a la teorización de las alegadas desviaciones del voto económico tradicional, este país es un caso ideal para revisitar las proposiciones existentes en la literatura, particularmente en un momento cuando esas condiciones de crisis han des-aparecido.

Successful functioning in a classroom setting requires students to interact effectively and form positive social relationships both with teachers and peers. Self-efficacy for success in schoolwork, therefore, should depend in part on students' perceptions of their social efficacy and on their endorsement of goals to be responsible class members and to form intimate peer relationships. Survey data from 753 fifth-grade students indicated that girls felt more efficacious in their interactions with their teachers and endorsed both responsibility and intimacy goals more strongly than did boys. No gender difference was found for social efficacy with peers. Hierarchical regression analysis indicated that students' perceptions of their social efficacy both with teacher and peers and their endorsement of responsibility goals were related significantly to their academic efficacy after accounting for prior achievement and gender These findings indicated that such social perceptions are important for students'academic progress and that teachers should pay serious attention to students'social relationships in the classroom.

Why do some students avoid seeking help with their class work when it is needed? Investigated in this study were the relations between early adolescents' academic and social goals and reports of avoiding help-seeking and perceiving that help-seeking is a threat to self-worth. Surveys were administered to 443 fifth graders in 12 elementary schools. Being oriented to demonstrating ability (relative ability goals) and wanting to be associated with the popular group (social status goals) were related positively to perceiving threat and avoiding help-seeking. Being oriented to developing ability (task-focused goals) was related negatively to perceiving threat and avoiding help-seeking. Wanting to form positive relationships with peers (intimacy goals) was related negatively to avoiding help-seeking. There was a significant Grade Point Average x Relative Ability Goals interaction, indicating that lower-achieving students with relative ability goals were more likely to avoid help-seeking than were higher-achieving students.

Risk factors for institutionalization and death for up to four years for a nationwide cohort (n = 6,488) of males discharged alive from Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) nursing homes were identified through linked records of the DVA. Two-year cumulative probabilities of nursing home readmission, hospitalization, and death among nursing home discharges were 0.30, 0.61, and 0.24, respectively. Using multivariate survival analyses, chronic functional impairments and past nursing home use were important predictors of nursing home readmission, whereas hospitalizations for exacerbations of chronic medical conditions were predictors of hospitalization and death. Past hospitalizations predicted all three outcomes. Differences in risk factors for nursing home readmission as compared with hospitalization or death among DVA nursing home dischargees suggest that high-risk patients can be identified at nursing home discharge and that different types of interventions will be necessary to decrease nursing home readmission as compared with hospitalization or death. Future development of linked record systems across multiple settings, both within and outside the DVA, will help to further characterize persons at high risk of institutionalization or death and to design and evaluate targeted interventions to decrease this risk.

The LHX3 transcription factor plays critical roles in pituitary and nervous system development. Mutations in the human LHX3 gene cause severe hormone deficiency diseases. The gene produces two mRNAs which can be translated to three protein isoforms. The LHX3a protein contains a central region with LIM domains and a homeodomain, and a carboxyl terminus with the major transactivation domain. LHX3b is identical to LHX3a except that it has a different amino terminus. M2-LHX3 lacks the amino terminus and LIM domains of LHX3a/b. In vitro experiments have demonstrated these three proteins have different biochemical and gene regulatory properties. Here, to investigate the effects of overexpression of LHX3 in vivo, the alpha glycoprotein subunit ( ΑGSU ) promoter was used to produce LHX3a, LHX3b, and M2-LHX3 in the pituitary glands of transgenic mice. Alpha GSU-beta galactosidase animals were generated as controls. Male ΑGSU-LHX3a and ΑGSU-LHX3b mice are infertile and die at a young age as a result of complications associated with obstructive uropathy including uremia. These animals have a reduced number of pituitary gonadotrope cells, low circulating gonadotropins, and possible sex hormone imbalance. Female ΑGSU-LHX3a and ΑGSU-LHX3b transgenic mice are viable but have reduced fertility. By contrast, ΑGSU-M2-LHX3 mice and control mice expressing beta galactosidase are reproductively unaffected. These overexpression studies provide insights into the properties of LHX3 during pituitary development and highlight the importance of this factor in reproductive physiology. J. Cell. The relative stabilities of 2- and 3-acetylthiophenes have been evaluated by experimental thermochemistry and the results compared to high-level ab initio calculations. The enthalpies of combustion, vaporization, and sublimation were measured by rotating-bomb combustion calorimetry, Calvet microcalorimetry, correlation gas chromatography, and Knudsen effusion techniques and the gas-phase enthalpies of formation, at T = 298.15 K, were determined. Standard ab initio molecular orbital calculations at the G2 and G3 levels were performed, and a theoretical study on the molecular and electronic structures of the compounds studied has been conducted. Calculated enthalpies of formation using atomization and isodesmic reactions are compared with the experimental data. Experimental and theoretical results show that 2-acetylthiophene is thermodynamically more stable than the 3-isomer. A comparison of the substituent effect of the acetyl group in benzene and thiophene rings has been carried out.

Natural mentors may play an important role in the lives of adolescents. We interviewed 770 adolescents from a large Midwestern city. Fifty-two percent reported having a natural mentor. Those with natural mentors were less likely to smoke marijuana or be involved in nonviolent delinquency, and had more positive attitudes toward school. Natural mentors had no apparent effect on anxiety or depression. Using the resiliency theory framework, natural mentors were found to have compensatory but not protective effects on problem behaviors, and both compensatory and protective effects on school attitudes. Direct and indirect (mediated) effects of natural mentors are explored for problem behaviors and school attitudes. The potential importance of natural mentors is supported, and implications for future research are considered.

Instrumental neutron activation analyses have been performed on samples of pottery from Abila of the Decapolis (northern Jordan) ranging in age from Early Bronze to Islamic (Abassid). Preliminary results suggest several groupings of samples from each of twelve major archaeological periods, implying a common source of raw materials for ceramic manufacture at Abila for specimens within each grouping, and different sources of raw materials for specimens from different groupings.

Frentizole is a benzimidazoleurea that has immunosuppressive properties in mice. Eleven steroid-treated patients with active systemic lupus erythematosus received frentizole (150-350 mg/day) in combination with stable or decreasing doses of prednisone in an open label trial. Nine patients completed at least one 21-to 75-day course of therapy with this drug. Clinical parameters of disease improved in 8 of these 9 patients. Mean DNA binding decreased by 28%, mean CH50 increased by 20%, and mean absolute lymphocyte and T cell counts decreased by 25-26%. Granulocytopenia was not observed. Three patients developed reversible hepatic toxicity. Clinical and serologic improvement was noted in 3 patients who accepted a second 90-day course of frentizole therapy.

The fusion enthalpies of the series butanedioic acid through to tetradecanedioic acid and hexadecanedioic acids have been measured by DSC. In addition to fusion, a number of solid–solid phase transitions have also been detected in these diacids. The vaporization enthalpies of these compounds have been measured by correlation gas chromatography using the vaporization enthalpies of butanedioic, hexanedioic and decanedioic acids as standards. The vaporization enthalpies of the diacids from C4 to C10 correlated linearly with the number of methylene groups present. Above C10, the vaporization enthalpies of C11–C14 and C16 begin to deviate from linearity. The vaporization enthalpies for these compounds are dependent on the temperature of the GC column used. Similar departure from linearity has also been observed previously in the sublimation enthalpies for these compounds. The results are discussed in terms of formation of a cyclic intramolecular hydrogen bonded network in the gas phase similar to the bimolecular association observed in smaller mono-carboxylic acids at ambient temperatures.

The need to investigate the static and dynamic stability for unconventional planes requires development of a code that automates the analysis for the airplane's stability performance. Flying wings are unconventional and challenging to analyze because they lack a tail to control the plane in the longitudinal and the lateral directions. With this motivation, an automated code was designed that was able to accurately predict the stability performance of flying wings. In general most of the stability derivatives that govern the dynamic behavior of an airplane are simplified so they would only include the terms that represent the greatest contribution to its final value. When the greatest contribution to any of the derivatives comes from the tail, and the airplane being analyzed lacks a tail, this represents a problem. This study tries to solve this problem by focusing on decoupling the longitudinal and lateral stability derivatives into its wing and vertical fin contributions.
