2. Factors Influencing Job Satisfaction of Educational Media Technologists in Different Work Setting in Nigeria
- Abstract
This study examines the factors that influence job satisfaction amongst the practitioners of educational media technology in different work settings. The study focused on six occupational areas ranging from Business and Industry to medical, armed services and education. The guided Interview technique was used as instrument to evaluate job satisfaction among the target group. Mean and Standard deviation was the statistical computation employed by the researcher to determine the extremely satisfied group and those that are dissatisfied. The findings indicate that quite a good number of the target population express satisfaction in their job.

4. Dialogue between the technologist and the theologian on electronic personality
- Abstract
Contemporary efforts to protect the rights of robots as electronic personalities point to the existence of a semantic noise in understanding the notion of personality. Starting from the view of robots who have technologists and considering the perception of robot as a personality in the public space, this paper discusses the necessity of dialogue between technologists and theologians in eliminating semantic noises. The thesis is that such a dialogue should start with the question of the contemporary man's goals in terms about category of time, which would make it possible to better understand the question of intersubjectivity on the plan of the electronic personality semantics in dissociative space of modern mediation between the subject and the posthumanism world.

14. The Expansion of Higher Education in Brazil: Credentials & Merit
- Abstract
This article tries to outline an exploratory sociological approach to higher education in Brazil. Its specific contribution would be to raise hypotheses to explain some of the social and economic inefficiencies in Brazilian system of higher education. Beginning with the increasing differential returns this level of education, this article explores the case of technologists in order to develop hypothesis on the social meaning of third level schooling. We use studies on the relationship between education and work and two sociological models (meritocratic and credentialist) and the contribution of sociology of professions to comprehend the role of knowledge and social position in determining the returns to education. The domain of academic bias in Brazilian education system seems to organize social forces that tend to generate some of its inefficiencies. They can appear in inability to adequately qualify to job market or in the production of innovations and patent registration. The most outstanding inefficiency would be that new groups who manage to get college degree are excluded by the devaluation of some titles and by the subordination of certain careers and types of training to the academic model., Este artículo trata de presentar una perspectiva sociológica exploratoria de la educación superior en Brasil. Su contribución específica rae en proponer algunas hipótesis que pueden explicar algunas de las ineficiencias económicas del sistema de educación superior brasileño. Comenzando por el aumento de los diferenciales del retorno educativo en estos niveles de educación, este artículo explora el caso de los llamados "tecnologistas" para desarrollar la hipótesis sobre cual es el significado social de la escolarización terciaria. En este sentido, se utilizan estudios sobre la relación existente entre educación y trabajo, sobre los dos modelos sociológicos (el meritocrático y el credencialista) así como sobre las aportaciones de la sociología de las profesiones con el objetivo de comprender el rol del conocimiento y la posición social en determinar los retornos educativos. El sesgo académico en el sistema educativo brasileño parece organizarse a través de fuerzas sociales que tienden a generar sus propias ineficiencias. Estas aparecen a través de la inabilidad de acreditar adecuadamente a las personas para entrar en el mercado laboral o para generar innovación y registrar nuevas patentes. La ineficiencia más significativa es que los nuevos grupos que consiguen graduarse de la universidad son excluidos debido a la devaluación de algunas titulaciones y a la subordinación de determinadas carreras y tipos de formación dentro del sistema académico.

Los estudios feministas de la tecnología actuales, entienden géneros y tecnologías como mutuamente constitutivos en una relación preformativa y fluida que nos lleva a hablar de efectos del desarrollo de la sociedad de la información para las mujeres y plantearlos en forma de retos y potencialidades. Uno de los principales retos del desarrollo de la sociedad de la información radica en la persistencia de la brecha digital de género. Sin embargo, un análisis en profundidad de ésta, así como de las trayectorias de las mujeres tecnólogas, visibiliza nuevas presencias y prácticas de capacitación y aplicación tecnológica multidisciplinares. Ambos análisis apuntan hacia cambios para las mujeres, sobretodo, relacionados con unas mayores posibilidades de participación en el desarrollo de la sociedad de la información desde sus diversos perfiles, prácticas y voluntades., Current feminist studies of technology understand gender and technology as mutually constitutive in a performative and fluid relationship, which leads us to talk about the effects of the development of information society for women and raise them in the form of challenges and potentialities. One of the main challenges of the development of information society is the persistence of the gender digital divide. However, a thorough analysis of the gender digital divide and further research about trajectories of women technologists sheds light on new presences, multidisciplinary training and developing practices, as well as new technological uses. Both analysis point to changes for women, mainly related to increased opportunities for participation in the development of information society from their various profiles, practices, and desires.
