The increasing use of rare earth elements (REEs) in diverse technological applications has augmented the demand and exploitation of these worldwide, leading to a higher input of REEs + Yttrium (Y) in the marine environment. The present study investigated the ecotoxicity of Lanthanum (La) and Y to Mytilus galloprovincialis developing embryos and juveniles. This was achieved by quantifying the embryogenesis success after 48 h, and survival of juveniles after 96 h of exposure to different concentrations of La and Y. Results show that both La and Y are more toxic to developing embryos and larvae than to juveniles of M. galloprovincialis. Predicted no-effect concentration (PNEC) values were also derived for the embryo development as a preliminary approach to assess the environmental risk for these compounds to marine organisms. Results revealed that La is more toxic than Y. The high sensitivity of the early developmental stages to these compounds highlight the relevance of including these stages when evaluating the toxicity of chemicals where little information is available. Although older life stages may be more tolerant to toxicants, the population survival will be compromised if new recruits are not viable, with implications to the whole ecosystem health and functioning of the impacted area. Information on the ecotoxicity of chemicals with expanded technological use and that may be released during deep-sea mining activities is urgent in order to help estimate environmental impacts.

The fourth edition of the XESCOM 2019 (International Symposium on Communication Management) was hosted by the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Porto on April, 26 and 27 in the city of Oporto, Portugal. It was organized with the collaboration between the University of Porto, IMMAA (International Media Management Academic Association) and PIMENED (Integrated Mentor Project, Enterprise Spirit and Business Models in Digital Edition). On this edition new topics related to the creative industries and entrepreneurship in the digital era were added to the main areas of study. The symposium aggregated both expert conference and communications from international researchers. The conference themes were communication, management, media, creative industries and entrepreneurship in the digital age. This report aims to briefly summarise the most relevant insights that both industry experts and researchers have contributed to XESCOM’ 2019.

Blockchain can be an important opportunity for those authors and artists with less visibility not only to stand out in a market dominated by industry monopolies but also to take an active part in distribution and monetisation of their work. In the context of disintermediation, blockchain's allegedly wide potential promises to disrupt creative industries and the media industry in general.

Microwave processing is an attractive approach for the production of materials with improved properties, using fast heating curves. In this work, SrBiTaO samples were obtained by the mixture of oxides (BiO, TaO and SrCO). The microstructural evolution during microwave sintering was investigated by scanning electron microscopy in association with energy dispersion spectroscopy and with the support of an X-ray diffraction analyzer. Frequency response analysis was used to obtain the electric curves and a synthesizer/function generator, in combination with a high voltage amplifier, to obtain the ferroelectric hysteresis measurements. Results show that microwave process proved to be a good alternative to the conventional process to obtain suitable ferroelectric properties. Furthermore, in strontium bismuth tantalate samples sintered at 1200C by microwave processing, a berlincourt d lineal piezoelectric coefficient of 5 pC/N, a remnant polarization P of 4 mC/cm and a coercive field E of 2.6 kV/mm were achieved.

Solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC) and polymeric exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFC) are those with more potential for commercial use. Specially for SOFC cathodes, many perovskites have been proposed as potential materials for this application. Nevertheless, other components of SOFC, such as the electrolytes, anodes and interconnects, have also been targeted with potential perovskites. More recently, the use of perovskites in PEMFC has also been proposed and studied. As many perovskite compositions can be used in SOFC components, some of the most important are discussed in this chapter and some recent works in perovskites for PEMFC are also referred. As a whole, in this chapter, the reader will find the relationship between the properties of perovskites with their compositions and the main effects of dopant agents regarding the utilization of these materials in different components of SOFC and in electrodes of PEMFC.

The aim of this article is to raise awareness of the power of storytelling and retromarketing to enhance the effectiveness of brand communication strategies and increase customer loyalty. The study consisted of an analysis of the chemicals produced in the brain during the telling of different types of stories and their influence on consumer behaviours, and of brand archetypes, based on the work of Carl Jung in this area. The study also conducted a review of experiments that demonstrate the economic value of storytelling and retromarketing narratives. The results show that storytelling and retromarketing enhance brand uniqueness and create a deeper, more genuine relationship between companies and customers. This emotional connection may be achieved when storytelling is targeted at a specific audience as part of a larger marketing strategy., [Resumen] La técnica o arte del storytelling está cada vez más presente entre los profesionales de la comunicación y el marketing. Las marcas son hoy conscientes de la importancia de agregar valor a través de las historias diferenciadas, que pueden coadyuvar a la fidelización de sus clientes. El presente artículo tiene como objetivo crear conciencia sobre la relevancia dual del storytelling y el retromarketing, como herramientas poderosas a efectos de mejorar la efectividad de la estrategia de comunicación de marca. Para tal fin, se analizan las sustancias químicas generadas en el cerebro durante la narración de diferentes tipos de historias que influyen en el comportamiento del consumidor. Asimismo, se analizan arquetipos de marca basados ​​en la perspectiva de Carl Jung y se revisan experimentos que podrían demostrar el valor económico del storytelling y las stories de retromarketing. Como resultado, el storytelling y el retromarketing elevan la singularidad de las marcas y pueden inducir relaciones más profundas y genuinas entre la compañía y el cliente. Esta etapa de conexión emocional se puede alcanzar cuando el storytelling se integra en la estrategia de marketing que se dirige a la audiencia adecuada.
