We study and compare optical microcavities formed by GaN planar nanowires. Nanostructures with structural defects such as stacking faults and without defects are considered. The behavior of an exciton localized in a stacking fault is considered. Different behavior of the photoluminescence intensity and the photoluminescence decay time is observed for the cases under consideration. The GaN planar hexagonal microcavities are grown by the selective vapor-phase epitaxy technique. The spectra are measured by the low-temperature cathodoluminescence method using a scanning electron microscope. The obtained spectra show a huge Rabi splitting (similar to 100 meV). Numerical simulation of the spatial distribution of the intensities of modes in a hexagonal cavity is carried out. Certain modes can have a high spatial localization leading to strong coupling with the exciton and huge Rabi splitting. The fraction of excitons in polariton modes, which correlates with the intensity of exciton radiation associated with these modes, is theoretically calculated for hexagonal-shaped microcavities. BACKGROUND: Campylobacter jejuni is widespread in the environment and is the major cause of bacterial gastroenteritis in humans. In the present study we use microarray-based comparative genomic hybridizations (CGH), pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) and multilocus sequence typing (MLST) to analyze closely related C. jejuni isolates from chicken and human infection. RESULTS: With the exception of one isolate, the microarray data clusters the isolates according to the five groups determined by PFGE. In contrast, MLST defines only three genotypes among the isolates, indicating a lower resolution. All methods show that there is no inherit difference between isolates infecting humans and chicken, suggesting a common underlying population of C. jejuni. We further identify regions that frequently differ between isolates, including both previously described and novel regions. Finally, we show that genes that belong to certain functional groups differ between isolates more often than expected by chance. CONCLUSION: In this study we demonstrated the utility of 70-mer oligonucleotide microarrays for genotyping of Campylobacter jejuni isolates, with resolution outperforming MLST., QC 20120213

At present a new direction in electromagnetic biology develops rapidly. It studies how a low-power electromagnetic field effects different biological objects. Within a wide range of problems to solve we emphasize the agricultural ones primarily due to the appearing possibility of using a presow electromagnetic stimulation of different seeds. A great number of publications in Russian and foreign journals aknowledge the fast. They indicate the coming appearance of new technologies, which are ecologically clean and in many ways exceed the traditional biochemical methods of presow seed stimulation.
