The Major Atmospheric Cherenkov Experiment (MACE) is a large size (21m) Imaging Atmospheric Cherenkov Telescope (IACT) installed at an altitude of 4270m above sea level at Hanle, Ladakh in northern India. Here we report the detection of Very High Energy (VHE) gamma-ray emission from Crab Nebula above 80 GeV. We analysed ~15 hours of data collected at low zenith angle between November 2022 and February 2023. The energy spectrum is well described by a log-parabola function with a flux of ~(3.46 +/- 0.26stat) x 10-10 TeV-1 cm-2 s-1, at 400 GeV with spectral index of 2.09 +/- 0.06stat and a curvature parameter of 0.08 +/- 0.07stat. The gamma-rays are detected in an energy range spanning from 80 GeV to ~5 TeV. The energy resolution improves from ~34% at an analysis energy threshold of 80 GeV to ~21% above 1 TeV. The daily light curve and the spectral energy distribution obtained for the Crab Nebula is in agreement with previous measurements, considering statistical and systematic uncertainties., Comment: Accepted for publication in Astroparticle Physics

In the year to February 2002, one in every five of the 9.8 million people who worked in Australia experienced at least one job separation. This paper looks at the determinants of job separation within a stayer/mover framework using individual-level data for Australia. Conditional on job separation the paper also investigates the determinants of job-to-job turnover (differentiated by occupation) and job-to-joblessness turnover (unemployment and exit from the labour force). The results show the importance of the normal demographic variables (age, gender, immigrant status and place of residence) but also qualifications and other labour market variables (hours of work, reason for job separation) for explaining turnover behaviour. This report has been prepared for the National Training Reform Taskforce to report on the future supply of, and requirements for, vocational education and training (VET) qualifications in Australia. It is intended to inform the next stages of reform of the sector to be considered by the Council of Australian Governments (COAG). The report provides: (1) A projection of the qualifications profile of people in employment in Australia in 2016; (2) Estimates of the additional number of qualified people required in the next ten years to attain the 2016 qualifications profile of employed people; (3) Estimates of the supply of people with VET qualifications from 2006 to 2016; (4) Estimates of the gap between supply and requirements in the number of people with VET qualifications from 2006 to 2016; and (5) Estimates of the additional student contact hours required to meet the shortfall in the number of people with VET qualifications from 2006 to 2016. Findings indicate that if the supply of people with VET qualifications remains at the same level as in 2005, a shortfall of 240,000 can be expected over the ten years to 2016. To meet the projected shortfall, net completions will need to increase by 1.9 per cent per year. Migration patterns to and from Australia are becoming complex with migration programmes increasingly targeted towards meeting the needs of the labour market and regional development. This paper provides an analysis of the permanent and temporary movements of people to and from Australia in the last three years and their impact on the skilled labour supply in Australia. The paper also provides an analysis of occupational mobility of permanent immigrants. The results are consistent with previously published results of initial downward occupational mobility among immigrants. The consequence of this is wastage of skills which the country can least afford in times of reported skills shortages. Skills wastage can be minimised by making available to newly arrived immigrants appropriate programmes for recognising previously acquired qualifications and occupational licenses; updating occupation-specific skills; and providing up-to-date information on the labour market and its operation. In this respect, the TAFE (Technical and Further Education) system in Australia is uniquely placed to play a key role. (Contains 7 footnotes, 1 figure, and 21 tables.)

This report provides estimates of job and occupational mobility by demographic, educational and labour market variables using data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) "Labour Mobility" survey for 2002. The report provides information on the effects of these variables on the probability of job separation. It also identifies the factors that are significant in explaining various types of occupational mobility, including transitions to non-employment. This information is targeted for use the planning of vocational education and training. Six appendices are included: (1) ASCO Listing; (2) Alternative Conceptual Model; (3) Further Data Descriptions; (4) Data Descriptions based on Skill-Level Transitions; (5) Statistical Models of Labour Market Transitions; and (6) Model Estimates. The effects of globalization and rapid technological change on emerging occupational patterns in Australia need to be understood in order to understand their implications for the effects on education and vocational training. Building on the classification scheme introduced by Robert Reich in his 1992 book, the Work of Nations, Australian employment data was analyzed in terms of the following nine proposed occupational categories: symbolic analytic services (conceptual and technical); in-person services (professional, intermediate, elementary); and routine production services (advanced skill, white collar, blue collar, low skill). Analyzing the changes in the data from 1986 to 1996 lead to the following conclusions: (1) the impact of the globalization of the world economy and rapid technological advancement on employment in Australia has generally been more negative than positive; (2) polarization of attachment to Australia's labor force has increased over the past decade; (3) although the employment picture has generally improved for Australia's female workers, employment growth has been sluggish for males; (4) Australia's universities must improve their performance as a major source of symbolic analysts; (5) Australia's technical and further education (TAFE) sector must increase its effectiveness in preparing people for employment as in-person service workers and conceptual symbolic analysts; and (6) the TAFE and VET (vocational education and training) sectors must clearly define the pathways between them and develop imaginative cooperative programs. This report describes the development and application of a model to study the movement of students in, through, and out of higher education in Australia. The model is designed to project the number of students, graduates, and dropouts by age, gender, and broad field of study. The model also estimates the probability of a student completing a program, the average time a student takes to complete a program, and the average time a student stays in the system. Among findings are the following: (1) female students and younger students have a greater probability of completing a program than males or older students; (2) engineering students are least likely and law students most likely to complete their programs; (3) the probability of completing a master's degree is about 67 percent, regardless of age; (4) male students are more likely than female students to complete research degrees; the latter are more likely to complete other graduate programs; and (5) total Australian undergraduate enrollment is projected to increase by 4.8 percent and graduate enrollment by 12.6 percent between 1995 and 2001. Individual sections of the report describe the model's background and structure and the data used in its application. Extensive data analysis tables are included. Long and frequent deployments, with short dwell times in between, have placed stresses on Army children and families already challenged by frequent moves and parental absences. RAND Arroyo Center was asked by the Army to examine the effects of parental deployments on children's academic performance as well as their emotional and behavioral well-being in the school setting. The researchers found that children whose parents have deployed 19 months or more since 2001 have modestly lower, statistically different achievement scores compared to those who have experienced less or no parental deployment. This finding held across states and academic subjects; is consistent across rank or component of the soldier, seniority of the soldier, gender of the deploying parent, and gender of the child; and has been stable since 2001. Based on interviews with school staff having experience with children of deployed soldiers and with experts and key stakeholders in behavioral health, the report describes the academic and behavioral health challenges these children face related to deployment, identifies the barriers to addressing these challenges, and offers recommendations to better meet the needs of these children. The Cognitive Behavioral Intervention for Trauma in Schools (CBITS) was developed for use by school-based mental health professionals for any student with symptoms of distress following exposure to trauma. The Supporting Students Exposed to Trauma (SSET) was adapted from CBITS for use by any school personnel with the time and interest to work with students affected by trauma. The purpose of this toolkit is to assist school-based mental health professionals, school personnel, and child welfare social workers in adapting these interventions for use with youth aged 10-15 who are in foster care. The authors note that delivering a school-based mental health program to youth in foster care has many challenges, including collaboration between the child welfare and education systems, confidentiality and information sharing policies regarding youth in foster care, and identification of these youth. The toolkit was designed to help understand these challenges and provide strategies for addressing them. The toolkit has three parts: a background section, an overview of CBITS and SSET, and a step-by-step guide to implementing and adapting CBITS/SSET for youth in foster care. Chapters 7 and 8 provide information about the changing nutritional needs of older adults and about different types of exercise. Topics in chapter 9 concern the psychology of aging. Chapter 10 describes the various types of living arrangements in terms of the needs of the older people they accommodate. Chapter 11 covers legal and financial matters. The final chapter introduces a variety of agencies and their services that may be helpful in meeting the needs of caretakers and their older relatives. Present study aimed to develop nanocoating of cucurbit[7]uril (CB[7]) on surfaces of silicon and epitaxial graphene using drop casting and spin coating techniques. Here, we report a systematic study for the influence of sonication, probe sonication, and centrifugation time on the dispersion of CB[7] in aqueous solutions for the preparation of high-quality CB[7] nanocoating. Spin speed, spin time, and spin acceleration have been optimised to attain uniform films with minimum rms. Atomic force microscopy is used to study morphology, rms, and height of CB[7] nanocoating under different parameters. The presence of CB[7] on the nanocoating and its binding nature was determined by Infrared absorption and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The present method of CB[7] nanocoating preparation is easy, versatile, scalable, and does not need the addition of electrolyte additives. Hydrology is the science dealing with the earth's waters, their occurrence, circulation, and distribution, their chemical and physical properties, and their reaction with the environment. As such, hydrology is an indispensible requirement for planning in the field of water resources. Objectives for, spectrum of, and topics for education in hydrology as well as the present state and future trends of educational programs in this field are discussed. Included in detailed appendices are: (1) reference syllabi for hydrological topics; (2) syllabi for topics for advanced study in hydrology; (3) curricula and syllabi recommended for the education and training of professional personnel in operational hydrology, for complete undergraduate training in hydrology, for some Unesco sponsored post-graduate programs in hydrology, and for some undergraduate and graduate options in training for degrees in other fields than hydrology; and examples of short duration specialized programs and hydrology subjects included in programs for other degrees. D-Limonene is a dietary monoterpene with significant anticancer activity against many cancer types in preclinical and clinical studies. The study is designed to investigate synergistic anticancer effects of limonene and BEZ235 combination in COLO-320 and HCT-116 colon cancer cells. Cells were treated with both the drugs alone and in combination and the effects on cell viability; cell migration and clonogenic potential were examined. Results show that both drugs exhibited dose and time dependant cytotoxicity on the cell lines tested. CompuSyn analysis of the drug combination effects revealed the strong synergistic interaction of the combination. Our results also indicate that COLO-320 cells were more sensitive for anticancer effects of the drugs than HCT-116 cells. The presence of Ras and PI3K mutations in HCT-116 cells could possibly be one of the main reasons for the observed outcome as compared to the wild type expressions of them in COLO-320 cells.

Kecelakaan lalu-lintas merupakan pembunuh nomor tiga di Indonesia, setelah penyakit jantung koroner dan tuberkulosis. Salah satu insiden kecelakaan yang memiliki prevalensi cukup tinggi adalah fraktur pada femur. Fraktur dapat disebabkan oleh keadaan patologis selain dari faktor traumatik. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui distribusi fraktur femur yang dirawat di rumah sakit Dr.M.Djamil, Padang periode 2010 hingga 2012. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan pendekatan deskriptif mengunakan rekam medik pasien fraktur femur yang dirawat di rumah sakit Dr.M.Djamil dari tahun 2010 hingga 2012 dan dilakukan di poli bedah orthopedi rumah sakit Dr.M.Djamil. Data penelitian disajikan dalam bentuk table distribusi frekuensi. Hasil dari penelitian ini didapatkan fraktur femur banyak terjadi pada laki-laki usia 17-25 tahun dan penyebab terbanyak adalah cedera traumatik seperti kecelakaan. Fraktur femur banyak terjadi di bagian medial femur dan merupakan fraktur tertutup. Penanganan fraktur femur dirawat dengan operasi iaitu reduksi fiksasi internal terbuka. The influence of SermionR on cellular protein synthesis in the mouse brain was studied in vivo, after an intraperitoneal administration of 50 microgram doses. The brain samples analyzed at different intervals after drug treatment showed a short-term increase of 3H-Leucine incorporation into proteins, followed by a. gradual decline of uptake. The latter reached control levels about 18 h after drug administration. Under similar experimental treatments Sermion had no effect on the synthesis of RNA catalyzed by Mg++- ions; however, a slight stimulation of the Mn++- activated RNA synthesis was obserwed. Mice receiving i. p. injections of 50 micrograms of Sermion showed an increased brain rnethyltransferase activity; the maximum stimulation was observed one hour after drug treatment. In another set of experiments the capacity of mouse brain preparations to catalyze the methyl group incorporation into the exogenously added transfer RNA (tRNA) was found to decrease with increasing age of the animals; the addition of 10-4 M Sermion to the incubation medium enhanced endogenous rnethylation, especially in the older animals. On the other hand the capacity to methylate the exogenously added heterologous tRNA was not effected by Sermion, irrespective of the age of the animals. In an attempt to understand the physiological relevance of the biochemical effects of Sermion, we have carried out some studies on the effect of this drug on conditioned learning in rats. The preliminary data indicate that the drug is able to enhance the learning quotients, however, more experiments are in progress to reach a definitive conclusion.
