Education is a social fact that shapes each learner's habits or actions as part of a society's overall need. Education, particularly for school-aged children, can be stated to be a critical need for society. The Corona epidemic, which has spread widely worldwide, including in the Philippines, and has been ongoing since March 2020, has impeded the implementation of learning in schools. It has significantly impacted community activities; everything should be done from home to break the virus's chain of transmission. Similarly, it has occurred in the online learning process. It is a good thing; over time, new approaches and techniques have entered the field of education, and teachers now use a variety of aids to help students learn more effectively. Audiovisual aids are classroom devices that encourage teaching and learning and make it easier and more interesting. In this study, the researchers attempt to determine the Impact of audio-visual aids on the learning process of grade 12 HUMSS students of Bestlink College of the Philippines. In addition, the researchers hope this research will aid administrators, teachers, and students in ensuring and developing a deeper understanding of the Impact of Audio-visual aids on grade 12 HUMSS students’ learning process.    This research study used Qualitative data collection that uses appropriate methods such as surveys. It aims to formulate a hypothesis and to determine and describe the Impact of Audio-visual aids on the learning process of Grade 12 HUMSS students in Bestlink College of the Philippines. The convenience sampling method was used to select a participant who will serve as a respondent. Survey questionnaires were used as a research instrument for data collection. This thesis analyzes an analysis of the risk perception of Italian paediatricians and parents regarding the impact of climate change on pediatric health. The consequences of climate change are now before our eyes; the recent pandemic has highlighted the impact that the destruction of ecosystems and global warming can have on our health. Fragile subjects will pay the most for the consequences of this crisis: children, the elderly, pregnant women. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 88% of the disease burden linked to climate change falls on children under the age of 5. Climate change poses a challenge of equity not only between different areas of the world but also between generations: the worst consequences will weigh on those who have not caused damage to the ecosystem. This study began by studying the risk perceptions of the two main caregivers who deal with the child's health: parents and paediatricians. The study analyzed a mixed methods approach, exploiting quantitative and qualitative approaches. Two surveys were carried out in collaboration with the Italian Society of Pediatrics (SIP) and AGE, the Italian Parents' Association, using a tool already consolidated in the literature and adapted according to the needs of the thesis. Sixty semi-structured interviews were then conducted with pediatricians of different age groups and different regions of Italy. The collected data were then compared with the literature on the subject, in order to understand differences and similarities. This work is part of a still rather scarce, but growing, field of literature and represents the first study of this type in Italy.

Here, we describe a novel flurbiprofen analogue, N-(3-bromopyridin-2-yl)-2-(2-fluoro-(1,1'-biphenyl)-4-yl)propanamide (Flu-AM4). The compound is a competitive, reversible inhibitor of FAAH with a Ki value of 13 nM and which inhibits COX activity in a substrate-selective manner. Molecular modelling suggested that Flu-AM4 optimally fits a hydrophobic pocket in the ACB region of FAAH, and binds to COX-2 similarly to flurbiprofen. In vivo studies indicated that at a dose of 10 mg/kg, Flu-AM4 was active in models of prolonged (formalin) and neuropathic (chronic constriction injury) pain and reduced the spinal expression of iNOS, COX-2, and NFκB in the neuropathic model. Thus, the present study identifies Flu-AM4 as a dual-action FAAH/substrate-selective COX inhibitor with anti-inflammatory and analgesic activity in animal pain models. These findings underscore the potential usefulness of such dual-action compounds.

The project gave me the chance to start from a personal fascination regarding the role of architecture in favoring humans wellbeing. Since the group research, the interviews with homeless people till the imagination, materialization, and perception of spaces of the project the initial question remained always as the stable background of my design thinking. The issue of homelessness has not merely an architectural answer, but the problem resides in a deeper economic, social, political and systemic failure. Therefore, the project does not have the ambition to provide for a solution to it. Yet it is a medium to bring awareness to the different topics , such as the rethinking of the typology of the “shelter”, the importance of the materialization of a building in favoring the wellbeing of its inhabitants and rethinking the relation human-nature in the built urban context., Architecture, Urbanism and Building Sciences

In this paper, selective laser melting fabricated specimens in non-heat-treated and heat-treated conditions were subjected to Vickers microhardness testing, by using a full range of loadings: 10, 25, 50, 100, 200, 300, 500, and 1000 g. Microhardness of longitudinal sections and cross-sections were correlated and the obtained values were plotted against loadings and indentation size effect was studied, in order to find the optimal loading range, that gives the material true microhardness, or load-independent hardness. The load dependence of the measured Vickers hardness values was described quantitatively through the application of the Meyer's law, proportional specimen resistance, and the modified proportional specimen resistance model. It was found that the microhardness rises as the loading is higher, causing a reversed indentation size effect, clearly indicating the range of true hardnesses of the tested material. Also, proportional specimen resistance and modified proportional specimen resistance models were found to have the highest correlation factors indicating their higher adequacy compared to Meyer's prediction model.

Background: Uncertainty exists about the optimal schedule of adjuvant treatment of breast cancer with aromatase inhibitors and, to our knowledge, no trial has directly compared the three aromatase inhibitors anastrozole, exemestane, and letrozole. We investigated the schedule and type of aromatase inhibitors to be used as adjuvant treatment for hormone receptor-positive early breast cancer. Methods: FATA-GIM3 is a multicentre, open-label, randomised, phase 3 trial of six different treatments in postmenopausal women with hormone receptor-positive early breast cancer. Eligible patients had histologically confirmed invasive hormone receptor-positive breast cancer that had been completely removed by surgery, any pathological tumour size, and axillary nodal status. Key exclusion criteria were hormone replacement therapy, recurrent or metastatic disease, previous treatment with tamoxifen, and another malignancy in the previous 10 years. Patients were randomly assigned in an equal ratio to one of six treatment groups: oral anastrozole (1 mg per day), exemestane (25 mg per day), or letrozole (2·5 mg per day) tablets upfront for 5 years (upfront strategy) or oral tamoxifen (20 mg per day) for 2 years followed by oral administration of one of the three aromatase inhibitors for 3 years (switch strategy). Randomisation was done by a computerised minimisation procedure stratified for oestrogen receptor, progesterone receptor, and HER2 status; previous chemotherapy; and pathological nodal status. Neither the patients nor the physicians were masked to treatment allocation. The primary endpoint was disease-free survival. The minimum cutoff to declare superiority of the upfront strategy over the switch strategy was assumed to be a 2% difference in disease-free survival at 5 years. Here, we have investigated 12 novel amide analogues of ibuprofen as potential dual-action FAAH/COX inhibitors. N-(3-Bromopyridin-2-yl)−2-(4-isobutylphenyl)propanamide (Ibu-AM68) was found to inhibit the hydrolysis of [3H]anandamide by rat brain homogenates by a reversible, mixed-type mechanism of inhibition with a Ki value of 0.26 µM and an α value of 4.9. At a concentration of 10 µM, the compound did not inhibit the cyclooxygenation of arachidonic acid by either ovine COX-1 or human recombinant COX-2. However, this concentration of Ibu-AM68 greatly reduced the ability of the COX-2 to catalyse the cyclooxygenation of the endocannabinoid 2-arachidonoylglycerol. It is concluded that Ibu-AM68 is a dual-acting FAAH/substrate-selective COX inhibitor.

Essential oils (EOs) are popular in aromatherapy, a branch of alternative medicine that claims their curative effects. Moreover, several studies reported EOs as potential anti- cancer agents by inducing apoptosis in different cancer cell models. In this study, we have considered EOs as a potential resource of new kinase inhibitors with a polypharmacological profile. On the other hand, computational methods offer the possibility to predict the theoretical activity profile of ligands, discovering dangerous off- targets and/or synergistic effects due to the potential multi-target action. With this aim, we performed a Structure-Based Virtual Screening (SBVS) against X-ray models of several protein kinases selected from the Protein Data Bank (PDB) by using a chemoinformatics database of EOs. By evaluating theoretical binding affinity, 13 molecules were detected among EOs as new potential kinase inhibitors with a multi-target profile. The two compounds with higher percentages in the EOs were studied more in depth by means Induced Fit Docking (IFD) protocol, in order to better predict their binding modes taking into account also structural changes in the receptor. Finally, given its good binding affinity towards five different kinases, cinnamyl cinnamate was biologically tested on different cell lines with the aim to verify the antiproliferative activity. Thus, this work represents a starting point for the optimization of the most promising EOs structure as kinase inhibitors with multi-target features.

The goal of each company today is to improve business and increase profit through the reorganization and simplification of its processes, decrease of costs and resources utilization etc. Improving the business is usually implemented through different techniques and methodologies that have been developed. One of the ways to improve service processes, and health system processes also, is the implementation of the lean concept. This study shows benefits from using Lean tools value stream mapping (VSM) and simulations to simplify the laboratory work process. Using the VSM and simulation in department of clinical biochemistry authors showed significant improvement of the clinical processes such as eliminating non-value added times (NVAT) by minimum 30 working days/year, increasing number of laboratories analyses by approximately 80.000 analyses/year, eliminating unnecessary movement of 39,000-52,000 meters/year for samples and 78,000-104,000 meters/year for stuff and decreasing patient waiting times from average 70 to 20 min/patient.

AIM: The aim of this study was to review experiences of use of the Lean methodology in the hospital setting and assess the impact of the interventions in terms of time of processes, productivity, effects on staff and patientd satisfaction. METHODS: PubMed, Scopus and CINAHL databases were searched to identify studies evaluating the lean methodology. Two reviewers screened the citations identified and extracted data according to the PRISMA methodology. RESULTS: In total, 635 citations were identified, of which 27 were included in the present review. Most studies showed a positive outcome related to the implementation of the Lean methodology and tools.

The article addressed the issue of the realignments of the citizenship regimes and practices within a European space in transformation. The issue of deepening of the integrative bonds among the EU member states had been clashed with the issue of widening of the European Union towards other Eastern and South-eastern European societies. Two recent cases demonstrated to be of great importance for the future of the EU: the exit of the United Kingdom, and the troubled accession of the Western Balkan countries. The research presented in the article explored the complex dialectics of these processes from the perspective of the political agency of the citizenry, beyond the geopolitical dimension of the European integration crises.

Novel 1,4,5,8-naphthalenetetracarboxylic diimide (NDI) derivatives were synthesized and evaluated for their antiproliferative activity on a wide number of different tumor cell lines. The prototypes of the present series were derivatives 1 and 2 characterized by interesting biological profiles as anticancer agents. The present investigation expands on the study of structure-activity relationships of prototypes 1 and 2, namely, the influence of the different substituents of the phenyl rings on the biological activity. Derivatives 3-22, characterized by a different substituent on the aromatic rings and/or a different chain length varying from two to three carbon units, were synthesized and evaluated for their cytostatic and cytotoxic activities. The most interesting compound was 20, characterized by a linker of three methylene units and a 2,3,4-trimethoxy substituent on the two aromatic rings. It displayed antiproliferative activity in the submicromolar range, especially against some different cell lines, the ability to inhibit Taq polymerase and telomerase, to trigger caspase activation by a possible oxidative mechanism, to downregulate ERK 2 protein and to inhibit ERKs phosphorylation, without acting directly on microtubules and tubuline. Its theoretical recognition against duplex and quadruplex DNA structures have been compared to experimental thermodynamic measurements and by molecular modeling investigation leading to putative binding modes. Taken together these findings contribute to define this compound as potential Multitarget-Directed Ligands interacting simultaneously with different biological targets.

Essential oils (EOs) are popular in aromatherapy, a branch of alternative medicine that claims their curative effects. Moreover, several studies reported EOs as potential anti- cancer agents by inducing apoptosis in different cancer cell models. In this study, we have considered EOs as a potential resource of new kinase inhibitors with a polypharmacological profile. On the other hand, computational methods offer the possibility to predict the theoretical activity profile of ligands, discovering dangerous off- targets and/or synergistic effects due to the potential multi-target action. With this aim, we performed a Structure-Based Virtual Screening (SBVS) against X-ray models of several protein kinases selected from the Protein Data Bank (PDB) by using a chemoinformatics database of EOs. By evaluating theoretical binding affinity, 13 molecules were detected among EOs as new potential kinase inhibitors with a multi-target profile. The two compounds with higher percentages in the EOs were studied more in depth by means Induced Fit Docking (IFD) protocol, in order to better predict their binding modes taking into account also structural changes in the receptor. Finally, given its good binding affinity towards five different kinases, cinnamyl cinnamate was biologically tested on different cell lines with the aim to verify the antiproliferative activity. Thus, this work represents a starting point for the optimization of the most promising EOs structure as kinase inhibitors with multi-target features.
