The study develops a model for an implementable health promotion program for the cadet member of the United States Corps of Cadets, West Point, NY. Following a discussion of models in general the paper discusses in depth an iterative ongoing four-step process in addressing the unique challenges of the target population. As this research is the beginning of an ongoing process of development, the author makes recommendations on possible ways of implementing health promotion for the Corps of Cadets to include the use of health risk appraisals and a local area network. A follow-up study of a previous report on nonroutine decision making adds to the material on creation of a decision making history, and aggregate characteristics of the process, using a method of computerized simulation. Development is reported of the time dependent records of alternative additions, further factor considerations, and forming dictionaries of organizations and the relevant factors involved., See also report dated May 74, AD-781 999.

The report describes a simulation of the process of nonroutine decision making. Although the overall study is oriented to the general nonroutine problem, it also concerns the simulation of college selection. The model is described both broadly and in terms of computer simulation. Two types of output are presented: the creation of a specific 'history' and the aggregate characteristics of the processes. The primary objective of the study was to explore the concept of isotope substitution as a tool for the precise determination of the metal-to-oxygen ratio in a metal oxide. A method was proposed that utilized substitution of either O(17) or O(18) for O(16) in a metal oxide. Algebraic manipulation of the mass and atom balance relations between a gas phase and a solid oxide indicated an experimental path that would lead to a determination of the oxide stoichiometry. The major effort in this work therefore, has been to reduce this method to practice. (Author)

The purpose of this essay is to discuss a problem not of philosophy in general, but of the philosophy of religion. The subject is limited to one major problem in the field of the philosophy of religion, the problem of the relation of reason and faith. The problem of the relation of faith and reason, however, is to be considered in the writings of only one man, St. Augustine of Hippo.

He was twelve when he was sent to a school for the graphic arts, where he studied photography, lithography and engraving, and from which he graduated with an International Engraver's Certificate. He then went to Berlin, where he took a three-year course in color photo­engraving and learned to make color filters. In August of 1913, when he was 21, Muray emigrated to the United States. He had little money and a limited command of the English language. Within a week he had secured employment, and within two years he was employed making color separations for Conde Nast, publisher of Vogue and Harper's Bazar. During three years of night school, where he learned to speak an excellent, unaccented English, he began to make his own photographs. When he applied for a job at a portrait studio, however, he was refused: his work was not what was being done in those days. The standards of commercial photographic portraiture, consistently low, have always been rigid. While they change from decade to decade, they reflect a general acceptance of a base style. They permit the photographer little creativity or sensitivity, and function largely as cultural identification cards, reducing subjects to an almost anonymous acceptabi1i ty. One has only to look back over a decade-old college yearbook to find how successful bad portrait photographers have been at making a diverse group of people fit into some indistinguishable visual norm. Muray wisely elected not to conform to the idiom of the day, but to open his own studio, which he did at 129 MacDougal Street in Greenwich Village in 1920. He quickly began to sell photo­graphs
