Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management is one of the courses offered by universities and colleges nowadays. The potential of tourism for job creation has been recognized because tourism generates more employment, especially in Quezon City. After all, it is a big city and almost fully established.   Tourism Management offers many job opportunities according to what the seekers desire, love, and are passionate about, like tour guiding- to be a tour guide at different places and in a museum, one can also be a professor specializing in tourism-related courses and many different job opportunities in different industries however, there are the challenges in finding a job.   This study utilized the qualitative research method of design to know. The researchers surveyed the challenges encountered in finding a job among the graduates of Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management in Quezon City. The researchers selected one hundred (100) Tourism Graduates in Quezon City.   The researchers are confident that this number accurately represents the entire population and that these chosen respondents will do their best to answer the questionnaire responsibly. This study utilized two statistical tools: Frequency, percentage, and weighted mean.    Most of the graduates are 24-29, and many are female. Lastly, Transportation is one of the most significant barriers to finding a job, and it is important to prioritize search efforts to focus on the locations that are the most likely to bring convenience; checking job search engine sites or company websites is a big help to be updated or recent job offers, The lack of self-confidence is largely down to appearance, as employers take appearances into account during job interviews here were problems that needed to recommend, and If an individual doesn't have enough years of experience, it's their skills and ability to perform the job task that will help them land the position. Large language models (LLMs) have gained widespread interest due to their ability to process human language and perform tasks on which they have not been explicitly trained. This is relevant for the chemical sciences, which face the problem of small and diverse datasets that are frequently in the form of text. LLMs have shown promise in addressing these issues and are increasingly being harnessed to predict chemical properties, optimize reactions, and even design and conduct experiments autonomously. However, we still have only a very limited systematic understanding of the chemical reasoning capabilities of LLMs, which would be required to improve models and mitigate potential harms. Here, we introduce "ChemBench," an automated framework designed to rigorously evaluate the chemical knowledge and reasoning abilities of state-of-the-art LLMs against the expertise of human chemists. We curated more than 7,000 question-answer pairs for a wide array of subfields of the chemical sciences, evaluated leading open and closed-source LLMs, and found that the best models outperformed the best human chemists in our study on average. The models, however, struggle with some chemical reasoning tasks that are easy for human experts and provide overconfident, misleading predictions, such as about chemicals' safety profiles. These findings underscore the dual reality that, although LLMs demonstrate remarkable proficiency in chemical tasks, further research is critical to enhancing their safety and utility in chemical sciences. Our findings also indicate a need for adaptations to chemistry curricula and highlight the importance of continuing to develop evaluation frameworks to improve safe and useful LLMs.

Naturally, university courses should be designed to attract students, engaging them to achieve learning goals. Toward this end, the use of Serious Games has been proposed in the literature. To address positive effects, such as content memorability and attendance rates, we propose Ambient Serious Games as games embedded in a computer-enriched environment, which is only partially perceived mentally by players. In this paper, we describe five technological key challenges that must be overcome to seamlessly and beneficially integrate an Ambient Serious Game into teaching. These challenges, derived from a scenario, focus on the technological provision and conduct of such games based on a software platform. They include (1) the integration of physical smart learning objects in heterogeneous environments under dynamic constraints, (2) the representation of abstract subject matter using smart learning objects, (3) the guided or automatic connection of all involved components, (4) the explanation of the components, their interaction, as well as the serious game itself, and (5) feedback on the game state., Comment: 6 pages

Molecular characterization of cell types using single-cell transcriptome sequencing is revolutionizing cell biology and enabling new insights into the physiology of human organs. We created a human reference atlas comprising nearly 500,000 cells from 24 different tissues and organs, many from the same donor. This atlas enabled molecular characterization of more than 400 cell types, their distribution across tissues, and tissue-specific variation in gene expression. Using multiple tissues from a single donor enabled identification of the clonal distribution of T cells between tissues, identification of the tissue-specific mutation rate in B cells, and analysis of the cell cycle state and proliferative potential of shared cell types across tissues. Cell type-specific RNA splicing was discovered and analyzed across tissues within an individual.

Objectives: Characterisation of the human antibody response to SARS-CoV-2 infection is vital for serosurveillance purposes and for treatment options such as transfusion with convalescent plasma or immunoglobulin products derived from convalescent plasma. In this study, we longitudinally and quantitatively analysed antibody responses in RT-PCR-positive SARS-CoV-2 convalescent adults during the first 250 days after onset of symptoms.Methods: We measured antibody responses to the receptor-binding domain (RBD) of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein and the nucleocapsid protein in 844 longitudinal samples from 151 RT-PCR-positive SARS-CoV-2 convalescent adults. With a median of 5 (range 2-18) samples per individual, this allowed quantitative analysis of individual longitudinal antibody profiles. Kinetic profiles were analysed by mixed-effects modelling.Results: All donors were seropositive at the first sampling moment, and only one donor seroreverted during follow-up analysis. Anti-RBD IgG and anti-nucleocapsid IgG levels declined with median half-lives of 62 and 59 days, respectively, 2-5 months after symptom onset, and several-fold variation in half-lives of individuals was observed. The rate of decline of antibody levels diminished during extended follow-up, which points towards long-term immunological memory. The magnitude of the anti-RBD IgG response correlated well with neutralisation capacity measured in a classic plaque reduction assay and in an in-house developed competitive assay.Conclusion: The result of this study gives valuable insight into the long-term longitudinal response of antibodies to SARS-CoV-2.

Colonization of newly ice-free areas by marine benthic organisms intensifies burial of macroalgae detritus in Potter Cove coastal surface sediments (Western Antarctic Peninsula). Thus, fresh and labile macroalgal detritus serves as primary organic matter (OM) source for microbial degradation. Here, we investigated the effects on post-depositional microbial iron reduction in Potter Cove using sediment incubations amended with pulverized macroalgal detritus as OM source, acetate as primary product of OM degradation and lepidocrocite as reactive iron oxide to mimic in situ conditions. Humic substances analogue anthraquinone-2,6-disulfonic acid (AQDS) was also added to some treatments to simulate potential for electron shuttling. Microbial iron reduction was promoted by macroalgae and further enhanced by up to 30-folds with AQDS. Notably, while acetate amendment alone did not stimulate iron reduction, adding macroalgae alone did. Acetate, formate, lactate, butyrate and propionate were detected as fermentation products from macroalgae degradation. By combining 16S rRNA gene sequencing and RNA stable isotope probing, we reconstructed the potential microbial food chain from macroalgae degraders to iron reducers. Psychromonas, Marinifilum, Moritella, and Colwellia were detected as potential fermenters of macroalgae and fermentation products such as lactate. Members of class deltaproteobacteria including Sva1033, Desulfuromonas, and Desulfuromusa together with Arcobacter (former phylum Epsilonbacteraeota, now Campylobacterota) acted as dissimilatory iron reducers. Our findings demonstrate that increasing burial of macroalgal detritus in an Antarctic fjord affected by glacier retreat intensifies early diagenetic processes such as iron reduction. Under scenarios of global warming, the active microbial populations identified above will expand their environmental function, facilitate OM remineralisation, and contribute to an increased release of iron and CO2 from sediments. Semiconductor nanoparticle based porous 3D assemblies are interesting materials for various applications in the fields of photovoltaics, catalysis, or optical sensing. For use as photoelectrodes in photoelectrochemical sensors they need to be characterised by a high porosity, a good photostability, and a high charge carrier mobility. Our work reports on the preparation of cryoaerogel photoelectrodes based on CdSe nanoplatelets and their photoelectrochemical characterisation by means of linear sweep voltammetry (LSV) and intensity modulated photocurrent spectroscopy (IMPS). The obtained open-pored cryoaerogel films were observed to produce much higher photocurrents than comparable drop-cast films. By means of IMPS, the performance differences could be linked to the occurrence of charge carrier movement, which could solely be proven for the cryoaerogels. In a proof-of-principle experiment, the potential of the prepared photoelectrodes for application in photoelectrochemical sensing was moreover demonstrated.

Drilling of the Chesterfield area wells began at Tibshelf/Hardstoft on 15 October 1918 and at Brimington on 29 November, Renishaw in January 1919, Heath on 27 February, Ironville on 3 March and Ridgeway in April, by government contractors with special powers under the Defence of the Realm Act. By 7 February an oil strike at Brimington was being reported and by 27 May oil was gushing from the Tibshelf/Hardstoft well, which had reached 3 070 ft. ObjectivesAssociations between parental occupational pesticide exposure and childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) vary across studies, likely due to different exposure assessment methodologies.MethodsWe assessed parental occupational pesticide exposure from the year before pregnancy to the child's third year of life for 669 children diagnosed with ALL and 1021 controls. We conducted expert rating using task-based job modules (JM) to estimate exposure to pesticides among farmer workers, gardeners, agricultural packers, and pesticide applicators. We compared this method to (1) partial JM using job titles and a brief description, but without completing the task-based questionnaire, and (2) job exposure matrix (JEM) linking job titles to the International Standard Classifications of Occupation Codes. We used unconditional logistic regression to calculate odds ratios (OR) and 95% confidence intervals (95% CI) for ALL cancer risk and pesticide exposure adjusting for child's sex, age, race/ethnicity and household income.ResultsCompared to complete JMs, partial JMs and JEM led to 3.1% and 9.4% of parents with pesticide exposure misclassified, respectively. Misclassification was similar in cases and controls. Using complete JMs, we observed an increased risk of ALL for paternal occupational exposure to any pesticides (OR=1.7; 95% CI=1.2, 2.5), with higher risks reported for pesticides to treat nut crops (OR=4.5; 95% CI=0.9, 23.0), and for children diagnosed before five years of age (OR=2.3; 95% CI: 1.3, 4.1). Exposure misclassification from JEM attenuated these associations by about 57%. Maternal occupational pesticide exposure before and after birth was not associated with ALL.ConclusionsThe risk of ALL was elevated in young children with paternal occupational pesticide exposure during the perinatal period, using more detailed occupational information for exposure classification.

This study examines the two dominant U.S. journalism models—the watchdog and civic-oriented professional performance—in the after math of the economic crises. The study, based on a content analysis of 1,421 news stories published by five national U.S. dailies, measures journalists’ role conception through a content analysis of newspaper articles, examining the concept of journalistic role performance. The findings indicate different contextualizations of the two roles: The civic journalism performance was mostly found in stories dealing with issues such as human rights, demonstrations, and religion. The watchdog model was found in stories dealing with religion as well, but was found more frequently than the civic model in stories covering the government, police and crime. While the overall results indicate shifting roles of journalists toward a more civic approach, the traditional watchdog role remains important in covering politics. Naturally occurring antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) display the ability to eliminate a wide variety of bacteria, without toxicity to the host eukaryotic cells. Synthetic polymers containing moieties mimicking lysine and arginine components found in AMPs have been reported to show effectiveness against specific bacteria, with the mechanism of activity purported to depend on the nature of the amino acid mimic. In an attempt to incorporate the antimicrobial activity of both amino acids into a single water-soluble copolymer, a series of copolymers containing lysine mimicking aminopropyl methacrylamide (APMA) and arginine mimicking guanadinopropyl methacrylamide (GPMA) were prepared via aqueous RAFT polymerization. Copolymers were prepared with varying ratios of the comonomers, with degree of polymerization of 35-40 and narrow molecular weight distribution to simulate naturally occurring AMPs. Antimicrobial activity was determined against Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria under conditions with varying salt concentration. Toxicity to mammalian cells was assessed by hemolysis of red blood cells and MTT assays of MCF-7 cells. Antimicrobial activity was observed for APMA homopolymer and copolymers with low concentrations of GPMA against all bacteria tested, with low toxicity toward mammalian cells.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a neurodegenerative disease linked to the misfolding of Cu/Zn superoxide dismutase (SOD1). ALS-related defects in SOD1 result in a gain of toxic function that coincides with aberrant oligomerization. The structural events triggering oligomerization have remained enigmatic, however, as is the case in other protein-misfolding diseases. Here, we target the critical conformational change that defines the earliest step toward aggregation. Using nuclear spin relaxation dispersion experiments, we identified a short-lived (0.4 ms) and weakly populated (0.7%) conformation of metal-depleted SOD1 that triggers aberrant oligomerization. This excited state emanates from the folded ground state and is suppressed by metal binding, but is present in both the disulfide-oxidized and disulfide-reduced forms of the protein. Our results pinpoint a perturbed region of the excited-state structure that forms intermolecular contacts in the earliest nonnative dimer/oligomer. The conformational transition that triggers oligomerization is a common feature of WT SOD1 and ALS-associated mutants that have widely different physicochemical properties. But compared with WT SOD1, the mutants have enhanced structural distortions in their excited states, and in some cases slightly higher excited-state populations and lower kinetic barriers, implying increased susceptibility to oligomerization. Our results provide a unified picture that highlights both (i) a common denominator among different SOD1 variants that may explain why diverse mutations cause the same disease, and (ii) a structural basis that may aid in understanding how different mutations affect disease propensity and progression.

This large, international dataset contains survey responses from N = 12,570 students from 100 universities in 35 countries, collected in 21 languages. We measured anxieties (statistics, mathematics, test, trait, social interaction, performance, creativity, intolerance of uncertainty, and fear of negative evaluation), self-efficacy, persistence, and the cognitive reflection test, and collected demographics, previous mathematics grades, self-reported and official statistics grades, and statistics module details. Data reuse potential is broad, including testing links between anxieties and statistics/mathematics education factors, and examining instruments’ psychometric properties across different languages and contexts.
