Background: The development of radiopharmaceuticals requires extensive evaluation before they can be applied in a diagnostic or therapeutic setting in Nuclear Medicine. Chemical, radiochemical, and pharmaceutical parameters must be established and verified to ensure the quality of these novel products. Main body: To provide supportive evidence for the expected human in vivo behaviour, particularly related to safety and efficacy, additional tests, often referred to as “non-clinical” or “preclinical” are mandatory. This document is an outcome of a Technical Meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency. It summarises the considerations necessary for non-clinical studies to accommodate the regulatory requirements for clinical translation of radiopharmaceuticals. These considerations include non-clinical pharmacology, radiation exposure and effects, toxicological studies, pharmacokinetic modelling, and imaging studies. Additionally, standardisation of different specific clinical applications is discussed. Conclusion: This document is intended as a guide for radiopharmaceutical scientists, Nuclear Medicine specialists, and regulatory professionals to bring innovative diagnostic and therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals into the clinical evaluation process in a safe and effective way.

The upper panel was incorrectly a duplicate version of the lower panel, and included PVC VT values, instead of uncorrected VT values. Though the Manifesto was written before the Covid-19 pandemic, many of the responses gathered here inevitably reflect on the experiences of moving to digital, distant, online teaching under unprecedented conditions. As these contributions reveal, the challenges were many and varied, ranging from the positive, breakthrough opportunities that digital learning offered to many students, including the disabled, to the problematic, such as poor digital networks and access, and simple digital poverty. Aims Patients with cardiac disease are considered high risk for poor outcomes following hospitalization with COVID-19. The primary aim of this study was to evaluate heterogeneity in associations between various heart disease subtypes and in-hospital mortality. Methods and results We used data from the CAPACITY-COVID registry and LEOSS study. Multivariable Poisson regression models were fitted to assess the association between different types of pre-existing heart disease and in-hospital mortality. A total of 16 511 patients with COVID-19 were included (21.1% aged 66-75 years; 40.2% female) and 31.5% had a history of heart disease. Patients with heart disease were older, predominantly male, and often had other comorbid conditions when compared with those without. Mortality was higher in patients with cardiac disease (29.7%; n= 1545 vs. 15.9%; n= 1797). However, following multivariable adjustment, this difference was not significant [adjusted risk ratio (aRR) 1.08, 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.02-1.15; P = 0.12 (corrected for multiple testing)]. Associations with in-hospital mortality by heart disease subtypes differed considerably, with the strongest association for heart failure (aRR 1.19, 95% CI 1.10-1.30; P <0.018) particularly for severe (New York Heart Association class III/IV) heart failure (aRR 1.41, 95% CI 1.20-1.64; P < 0.018). None of the other heart disease subtypes, including ischaemic heart disease, remained significant after multivariable adjustment. Serious cardiac complications were diagnosed in <1% of patients. Conclusion Considerable heterogeneity exists in the strength of association between heart disease subtypes and in-hospital mortality. Of all patients with heart disease, those with heart failure are at greatest risk of death when hospitalized with COVID-19. Serious cardiac complications are rare during hospitalization. De afgelopen jaren is geconstateerd dat er in de zomer en het najaar grote hoeveelheden jonge vis aanwezig zijn in het IJsselmeer, maar dat deze tijdens/na de wintermaanden massaal lijken te verdwijnen. Oudere vissen (>2 jaar) worden tijdens visbemonsteringen in het IJsselmeer nog slechts beperkt aangetroffen. Onbekend is welke factoren bijdragen aan de ogenschijnlijke geringe overleving van jonge vis in het IJsselmeer. Verondersteld wordt dat er gedurende de winter en/of het volgende voorjaar massale sterfte plaatsvindt onder de jonge (0+) vis. Door onderzoek te laten doen naar de (gedrags)kenmerken van jonge vis in de winterperiode wil Rijkswaterstaat meer kennis en inzicht vergaren over mogelijke mechanismen die bijdragen aan de slechte overleving van deze vissen. Het primaire doel van voorliggende studie is meer inzicht te krijgen in de (gedrag)kenmerken van jonge vis tijdens de wintermaanden in en rondom het IJsselmeer. Dit door middel van een literatuurstudie en veldonderzoek. Het doel is op deze wijze aanknopingspunten te vinden voor oorzaken die bijdragen aan de slechte overleving van de jonge vis en daarmee de hypothesen aan te scherpen. Het onderzoek richt zich primair op de soorten baars, blankvoorn, brasem en snoekbaars.

In beken zijn stromingminnende soorten in de droge periode 2018-2020 sterk afgenomen. In een aantal beken voeren waterschappen extra water aan om stroming te behouden en zo beekvissen te beschermen. Voor een meer structurele oplossing moeten beekdalen natuurlijker worden ingericht en grondwaterstromen hersteld.

De drie Brabantse waterschappen hebben met adviesbureau ATKB een analyse uitgevoerd naar de effecten van de afgelopen droge jaren op de visstand. Zowel de soortenrijkdom als het aantal vissen in de Brabantse beken blijken af te nemen. De visbeoordelingen voor de Europese Kaderrichtlijn Water dalen daardoor ook. Nadere analyses moeten inzicht geven in exacte oorzaken voor de achteruitgang, geconstateerde verschillen tussen waterschappen en de effecten van uitgevoerde maatregelen.

Visstandonderzoek waterlichamen Waterschap Rivierenland 2018: EKR-scores. Dit rapport beschrijft de resultaten van de toetsing en beoordeling van de visstand in alle dertig waterlichamen in het beheergebied van waterschap Rivierenland in 2018. Na deze inleiding wordt in hoofdstuk 2 de toegepaste methodiek van de KRW-toetsing en -beoordeling beschreven. Vervolgens worden in hoofdstuk 3 de resultaten per waterlichaam gepresenteerd. In hoofdstuk 4 volgt daarna de discussie waarin de meest opmerkelijke resultaten worden besproken en een vergelijking wordt gemaakt met de resultaten van voorgaande bemonsteringen. Aansluitend worden in hoofdstuk 5 conclusies en aanbevelingen gegeven. De belangrijkste figuren en tabellen zijn in de hoofdtekst van het rapport opgenomen. We analyse the electrical response of narrow graphene nanogaps in search for transport signatures stemming from spin-polarized edge states. We find that the electrical transport across graphene nanogaps having perfectly defined zigzag edges does not carry any spin-related signature. We also analyse the magnetic and electrical properties of nanogaps whose electrodes have wedges that possibly occur in the currently fabricated nanogaps. These wedges can host spin polarized wedge low-energy states due to the bipartite nature of the graphene lattice. We find that these spin-polarized low-energy modes give rise to low-voltage signatures in the differential conductance and to distinctive features in the stability diagrams. In 2016 is de visstand in de Chaamse beken door zowel de Vissenwerkgroep van Mark & Leij als adviesbureau ATKB onderzocht. De gegevens laten zien dat de vangsten, ondanks de afwijkingen tussen de toegepaste methoden, verrassend veel overeenkomsten vertonen. Waterschap Brabantse Delta wil de vangsten van zowel adviesbureaus als vrijwilligers verzamelen om meer inzicht te krijgen in de ontwikkeling van de visstand.

Door het RAM is in 2016 een inventarisatie gemaakt van de wensen voor verbeteringen en aanpassingen in de KRW maatlatten (Puts, 2016). Eén van de vaak genoemde wensen door meerdere waterschappen is het verbeteren van de maatlat voor vissen in de kleine R-typen. Eind augustus 2017 is een expertgroep bijeen geweest om over verbetervoorstellen voor de maatlat te discussiëren. Hieruit kwam een aantal duidelijke knelpunten en in sommige gevallen ook reeds mogelijke verbeterpunten aan de orde voor de maatlat voor vissen voor de kleine R-typen (R4, R5, R6, R12, R13, R14, R15, R17, R18). De groep experts heeft geconstateerd dat een landelijke validatie van de bestaande maatlat (Van der Molen et al. 2016) zeer wenselijk was en de wens geuit om de Nederlandse dataset van biologie en drukken zoals gebruikt bij de intercalibratie uit te bouwen. Na een aantal meetronden voor de KRW is veel informatie in Nederland aanwezig om de gewenste dataset uit te breiden om een dergelijke validatie uit te voeren. De validatie moest de noodzaak tot het doorvoeren concrete verbetervoorstellen voor de vissenmaatlat in kleine R-typen in beeld brengen.

Pretargeted PET imaging has emerged as an effective two-step in vivo approach that combines the superior affinity and selectivity of antibodies with the rapid pharmacokinetics and favorable dosimetry of smaller molecules radiolabeled with short-lived radionuclides. This approach can be based on the bioorthogonal inverse-electron-demand Diels–Alder (IEDDA) reaction between tetrazines and trans-cyclooctene (TCO) derivatives. We aimed to develop new [18F]TCO–dienophiles with high reactivity for IEDDA reactions, and favorable in vivo stability and pharmacokinetics. New dienophiles were synthesized using an innovative micro-flow photochemistry process, and their reaction kinetics with a tetrazine were determined. In vivo stability and biodistribution of the most promising 18F-radiolabeled-TCO-derivative ([18F]3) was investigated, and its potential for in vivo pretargeted PET imaging was assessed in tumor-bearing mice. We demonstrated that [18F]3 is a suitable dienophile for IEDDA reactions and for pretargeting applications.

Spin-1/2 Kondo and Kondo enhanced low-energy excitations for, respectively, the odd and even electron occupation are observed in off-resonant transport. The ground state in the even occupation can be the singlet or the triplet state varying between samples. Diverse maatschappelijke ontwikkelingen, zoals het in verval raken van sociale verbanden, de autonomiegedachte en het hoge opleidingsniveau van Nederlanders, leidden ertoe dat de patiëntenorganisaties ontstonden. Andere maatschappelijke ontwikkelingen, zoals de digitalisering en de trend van empowerment, zorgen ervoor dat de patiëntenorganisaties zich continu moeten aanpassen. De gedachte achter deze studie is dat patiëntenorganisaties hun diensten moeten laten aansluiten op de behoeften van de patiënten. In deze studie worden de online en offline communicatie-instrumenten van patiëntenorganisaties voor informatiezoekende patiënten onderzocht. Aangezien patiëntenorganisaties de kerntaken hebben om voorlichting te geven en lotgenotencontact te bewerkstelligen, vormen deze kerntaken het uitgangspunt van de studie. De hoofdvraag is als volgt: Hoe kunnen online en offline communicatie-instrumenten bijdragen aan het geven van voorlichting en het bewerkstelligen van lotgenotencontact voor communities van patiënten van de Landelijke Vereniging voor Vitiligo Patiënten en de Prikkelbare Darm Syndroom Belangenvereniging? Sinds 2009 wordt de Pontische stroomgrondel aangetroffen in de Nederlandse rivieren. Twee jaar later blijkt deze nieuwe vissoort in aantal de meest voorkomende vissoort in de IJsseldelta. Wat de effecten op de inheemse visfauna zijn, is echter nog onbekend.

Vissen vormen een belangrijk onderdeel van de ecologische doelstelling voor oppervlaktewateren, zoals opgesteld volgens de Europese Kaderrichtlijn Water (KRW). De KRW verplicht om ten aanzien van de gekwantificeerde doelen een monitoringprogramma uit te voeren om vast te stellen of na uitvoering van KRW-maatregelen de doelen daadwerkelijk worden gehaald. Om inzicht te verkrijgen in de huidige visstand heeft Hoogheemraadschap Hollands Noorderkwartier de visstand in vijf waterlichamen in 2010 laten onderzoeken. De uitvoering van het visstandonderzoek en de rapportage van de resultaten is uitgevoerd door ATKB.

Het Hoogheemraadschap Noord Hollands Noorderkwartier (HHNK) heeft de inventarisatie van de visstand in vier waterlichamen als onderdeel in haar Kader Richtlijn Water (KRW)-meetprogramma voor 2009 opgenomen. De geselecteerde waterlichamen zijn: Amstelmeerboezem, Schermerboezem-Noord, VRNK-boezem en Wieringermeer-Oost. Het doel van het onderzoek is om de visstand zo compleet mogelijk in beeld te brengen, zodat er een representatief beeld van de visstand in de te onderzoeken gebieden wordt verkregen. In dit rapport worden de resultaten van de visstandbemonstering en beoordeling beschreven.

The purpose of this studyis to revisit reliability and validity issues associated with transcript analysis. The goal is to provide researchers with guidance incoding transcripts. For validity reasons, it is suggested that the first step is to select a sound theoretical model and coding scheme.Particular focus is placed on exploring the advantages of the option of a negotiated approach to coding the transcript. Mobile technology is a new and promising area of research in distance education. Currently, there are few if any descriptive models of mobile learning that can be used to develop appropriate pedagogical practices. This thesis has two main purposes: to develop a theoretical model of mobile learning and to use the model to evaluate a set of mobile devices. The Framework for the Rational Analysis of Mobile Education (FRAME) model describes mobile learning as a process resulting from the convergence of mobile technologies, human learning characteristics, and social interaction. The devices included in this study were equipped with wireless networking capacity, but varied in size, weight, processing power, interface design, portability, as well as input and output capabilities. This study is both theoretical and evaluative, relying on a small panel of experts to review the devices. During the first phase of data collection, the experts individually evaluated each device. In the second phase, they shared their observations in a face-to-face discussion. All questionnaires and discussion questions were based on the FRAME model. The study culminates in a discussion of some of the most significant factors likely to affect mobile device usability in distance education. It also outlines other areas of research suggested by the FRAME model., 2006

Verslag van een stageopdracht in het kader van een mosselhatchery/nursery optimalisatieproject, waarbij een onderzoek is uitgevoerd naar de optimalisatie van de algenkweek. In de hatchery worden mossellarven gekweekt en die moeten gevoed worden met algen. De algen in de hatchery worden in plasticzakken gekweekt. Het was echter de vraag of dat wel een efficiënte methode is en of de methode misschien verbeterd kon worden. De conclusie was dat de algenkweek in de hatchery voor verbetering vatbaar is. Het zou zeer lonend zijn om in de toekomst algen te kweken in 50 liter zakken met toevoeging van CO2, omdat daarmee de hoogste dichtheden bereikt kunnen worden. Dit kan ruimte, tijd en kosten besparen.
