We report the results of first ever spectro-polarimetric analyses of the Galactic ultra-luminous X-ray pulsar Swift J0243.6$+6124$ during the 2023 outburst using quasi-simultaneous {\it IXPE}, {\it NICER} and {\it NuSTAR} observations. A pulsation of period $\sim 9.79$ s is detected in {\it IXPE} and {\it NuSTAR} observations with pulse fractions (PFs) $\sim 18\%$ ($2-8$ keV) and $\sim 28\%$ ($3-78$ keV), respectively. Energy-dependent study of the pulse profiles with {\it NuSTAR} indicates an increase in PF from $\sim 27\%$ ($3-10$ keV) to $\sim 50\%$ ($40-78$ keV). Further, epoch-dependent polarimetric measurements during decay phase of the outburst confirm the detection of significant polarization degree (PD) varying as $\sim 2-3.1\%$ with polarization angle $\sim 8.6^{\circ}-10.8^{\circ}$ in $2-8$ keV energy range. We also observe that PD increases up to $\sim 4.8\%$ at higher energies ($\gtrsim 5$ keV) with dominating \texttt{bbodyrad} flux contribution ($1.5 \lesssim F_{\rm BB}/F_{\rm PL} \lesssim 3.4$) in {\it IXPE} spectra. The phase-resolved polarimetric study yields PD as $\sim 1.7-3.1\%$ suggesting a marginal correlation with the pulse profiles. Moreover, the broad-band ($0.6-70$ keV) energy spectrum of combined {\it NICER} and {\it NuSTAR} observations is well described by the combination of \texttt{bbodyrad} and \texttt{cutoffpl} components with seed photon temperature ($kT_{\rm bb}$) $\sim 0.86 \pm 0.03$ keV and photon index ($\Gamma$) $\sim 0.98 \pm 0.01$. With the above findings, we infer that the observed `low' PD in Swift J0243.6$+6124$ is resulted possibly due to `vacuum resonance' effect occurred between the overheated and relatively cooler regions of the neutron star boundary layer., Comment: 10 pages, 4 figures, 3 tables, Comments welcome

The challenge of optimal Routing and Spectrum Assignment (RSA) is significant in Elastic Optical Networks. Integrating adaptive modulation formats into the RSA problem - Routing, Modulation Level, and Spectrum Assignment - broadens allocation options and increases complexity. The conventional RSA approach entails predetermining fixed paths and then allocating spectrum within them separately. However, expanding the path set for optimality may not be advisable due to the substantial increase in paths with network size expansion. This paper delves into a novel approach called RMLSA, which proposes a comprehensive solution addressing both route determination and spectrum assignment simultaneously. An objective function named ABACUS, Adaptive Balance of Average Clustering and Utilization of Spectrum, is chosen for its capability to adjust and assign significance to average clustering and spectrum utilization. Our approach involves formulating an Integer Linear Programming model with a straightforward relationship between path and spectrum constraints. The model also integrates Physical Layer Impairments to ensure end-to-end Quality of Transmission for requested connections while maintaining existing ones. We demonstrate that ILP can offer an optimal solution for a dynamic traffic scenario within a reasonable time complexity. To achieve this goal, we adopt a structured formulation approach where essential information is determined beforehand, thus minimizing the need for online computations.

We present a comprehensive spectro-polarimetric study of persistent Black hole X-ray binary 4U $1957\!+\!115$ with {\it IXPE} and {\it NICER} observations. The source is observed in disk dominated thermal state with disk temperature, kT$_{in}\approx1.4$ keV. The emission during thermal state from the source is found to be moderately polarized and \textit{IXPE} measures a degree of polarization (PD) $= 1.95\pm0.37\%$ ($>4.79\sigma$) along with a polarization angle (PA) $= -42.78^{\circ}\pm5.41^{\circ}$ in the energy range of $2-8$ keV. PD is found to be an increasing function of energy, whereas PA indicates switching within the energy range which could be due to high inclination and the returning radiation within the system. Simultaneous energy spectra ($0.6-10$ keV) from {\it NICER} are modelled to study the spectral properties. Furthermore, the spin parameter of the black hole is estimated with spectro-polarimetric data as a$_{\ast}=0.988\pm0.001\,(1\sigma)$, which is corroborated by {\it NICER} observations. We present a detailed spectro-polarimetric study of Black hole X-ray binary 4U $1630-47$ during its $2022$ outburst with IXPE and NICER observations. The source is observed in disk dominated thermal state (kT$_{in}\approx1.4$ keV) with clear detection of absorption features at $6.69\pm0.01$ keV and $6.97\pm0.01$ keV from both NICER as well as IXPE spectra, likely indicating a coupling of disk-wind. A significant degree of polarization(PD) $= 8.33\pm0.17\%$ and polarization angle(PA) $=17.78^{\circ}\pm0.60^{\circ}$ in the energy range of $2-8$ keV are measured with IXPE. PD is found to be an increasing function of energy whereas PA remains roughly same within the energy range. Simultaneous energy spectra from NICER in the range of $0.5-12$ keV are modelled to study the spectral properties. Furthermore, the spin parameter of the black hole is estimated with spectro-polarimetric data as a$_{\ast}=0.927\pm0.001\,(1\sigma)$ which is corroborated by NICER observations. In this paper, we performed a spectro-polarimetric analysis of the transient NS-LMXB XTE J1701-462 using IXPE, NICER, and NuSTAR data during its 2022 outburst. We report the significant detection of energy-dependent polarization in the X-ray signal from the source on 2022 September 29 in the $2-4$ keV, $4-8$ keV and $2-8$ keV energy bands with a polarization degree of $3.9 \pm 0.3$% (10.7$\sigma$), $5.5 \pm 0.6$% (9.1$\sigma$) and $4.5 \pm 0.4$% (12.6$\sigma$), respectively. The polarization angle in the overall $2-8$ keV band was found to be $\sim 143^{\circ}\pm 2^{\circ}$. The spectra were modelled using a combination of thermal emission from an accretion disc, Comptonized emission from a hot electron plasma (or corona) and a Gaussian line. From spectro-polarimetric analysis, the polarization degree due to the disc emission was found to have an upper limit of $\sim 11.5$%, and that of the Comptonized emission was constrained at $7.7 \pm 2.5$% (at the 3$\sigma$ level). The results suggest that the Comptonized component probably originates from a spreading-layer/boundary-layer above the neutron star surface. IXPE observation of the same source on 2022 October 8 does not show significant polarization which can be attributed to a weakening of the coronal Comptonized emission. We have carried out the first spectro-polarimetric study of the bright NS-LMXB GX 9+9 using IXPE and AstroSat observations. We report a significant detection of polarization of $1.7\pm 0.4\%$ over the $2-8$ keV energy band, with a polarization angle of $63^{\circ}\pm 7^{\circ}$. The polarization is found to be energy-dependent, with a $3\sigma$ polarization degree consistent with null polarization in $2-4$ keV, and $3.2\%$ in $4-8$ keV. Typical of the spectra seen in NS-LMXBs, we find that a combination of soft thermal emission from the accretion disc and Comptonized component from the optically thick corona produces a good fit to the spectra. We also attempt to infer the individual polarization of these components, and obtain a $3\sigma$ upper limit of $\sim 11\%$ on the polarization degree of the thermal component, and constrain that of the Comptonized component to $\sim 3\%$. Using a combination of techniques from statistical analysis and machine learning, we conduct a retrospective analysis of historical network data for a period around the stay-At-home orders that took place in March 2020. Our analysis takes data from the entire ESnet infrastructure to explore DOE high-performance computing (HPC) resources at OLCF, ALCF, and NERSC, as well as User sites such as PNNL and JLAB. We look at detecting and quantifying changes in site activity using a combination of t-Distributed Stochastic Neighbor Embedding (t-SNE) and decision tree analysis. Our findings bring insights into the working patterns and impact on data volume movements, particularly during late-night hours and weekends.

However, as networks grow and become more complex, it is increasingly cumbersome and challenging to study how the many flow patterns, sizes and the continually changing source-destination pairs in the network evolve with time. We present Netostat, a visualization-based network analysis tool that uses visual representation and a mathematics framework to study and capture flow patterns, using graph theoretical methods such as clustering, similarity and difference measures. We analyze a new kind of machine learning algorithm designed to feedback stabilize coherently combined lasers. This algorithm learns differential, rather than absolute, values of action in phase space, in order to facilitate learning on initially unstable systems. Experiments have shown that this approach can control small-scale spatial beam combination with high stability. In this paper we analyze the algorithm's performance and limitations in depth, showing that it can continuously learn during operation in order to track changes. Using simulation, we extend the application to temporal combination, and show that it scales to more complex instances by combining 81 beams.

BackgroundIn 2015, an international outbreak of Mycobacterium chimaera infections among patients undergoing cardiothoracic surgeries was associated with exposure to contaminated LivaNova 3T heater-cooler devices (HCDs). From June 2017 to October 2020, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention was notified of 18 patients with M. chimaera infections who had undergone cardiothoracic surgeries at 2 hospitals in Kansas (14 patients) and California (4 patients); 17 had exposure to 3T HCDs. Whole-genome sequencing of the clinical and environmental isolates matched the global outbreak strain identified in 2015.MethodsInvestigations were conducted at each hospital to determine the cause of ongoing infections. Investigative methods included query of microbiologic records to identify additional cases, medical chart review, observations of operating room setup, HCD use and maintenance practices, and collection of HCD and environmental samples.ResultsOnsite observations identified deviations in the positioning and maintenance of the 3T HCDs from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recommendations and the manufacturer's updated cleaning and disinfection protocols. Additionally, most 3T HCDs had not undergone the recommended vacuum and sealing upgrades by the manufacturer to decrease the dispersal of M. chimaera-containing aerosols into the operating room, despite hospital requests to the manufacturer.ConclusionsThese findings highlight the need for continued awareness of the risk of M. chimaera infections associated with 3T HCDs, even if the devices are newly manufactured. Hospitals should maintain vigilance in adhering to FDA recommendations and the manufacturer's protocols and in identifying patients with potential M. chimaera infections with exposure to these devices.

The purpose of this research was to develop meloxicam fast dissolving tablets. This drug is an oxicam derivative and a NSAID with anti-inflammatory, antipyretic and analgesic activities. Based on the result the prostaglandin synthesis is accountable for the therapeutic effects of the drug. Six formulations of meloxicam 200 mg were formulated by direct compression technique using different hydrophilic polymer grades such as PEG-400, PVP k100 as a polymers and different ingredients in different concentrations such as Micro crystalline cellulose, sodium starch glycolate, and Mannitol, Talc and Magnesium stearate. The earlier the all formulation of the granules is evaluated by pre-compression studies and after compression of tablets was evaluated with different post-compression parameters, In- vitro disintegration studies and In-vitro dissolution studies. The formulation F3 was chosen as an optimized formulation as it gives best results in terms of In - vitro drug release in a fast discharge manner. Based results the F3 formulation as followed by first order of kinetics with R value is 0.999.

Behind-the-meter distributed energy resources (DERs), including building solar photovoltaic (PV) technology and electric battery storage, are increasingly being considered as solutions to support carbon reduction goals and increase grid reliability and resiliency. However, dynamic control of these resources in concert with traditional building loads, to effect efficiency and demand flexibility, is not yet commonplace in commercial control products. Traditional rule-based control algorithms do not offer integrated closed-loop control to optimize across systems, and most often, PV and battery systems are operated for energy arbitrage and demand charge management, and not for the provision of grid services. More advanced control approaches, such as MPC control have not been widely adopted in industry because they require significant expertise to develop and deploy. Recent advances in deep reinforcement learning (DRL) offer a promising option to optimize the operation of DER systems and building loads with reduced setup effort. However, there are limited studies that evaluate the efficacy of these methods to control multiple building subsystems simultaneously. Additionally, most of the research has been conducted in simulated environments as opposed to real buildings. This paper proposes a DRL approach that uses a deep deterministic policy gradient algorithm for integrated control of HVAC and electric battery storage systems in the presence of on-site PV generation. The DRL algorithm, trained on synthetic data, was deployed in a physical test building and evaluated against a baseline that uses the current best-in-class rule-based control strategies. Performance in delivering energy efficiency, load shift, and load shed was tested using price-based signals. The results showed that the DRL-based controller can produce cost savings of up to 39.6% as compared to the baseline controller, while maintaining similar thermal comfort in the building. This paper presents an innovative way of quantum circuit optimization; we propose an automated superconducting circuit calibration using deep reinforcement learning (ASCC-DRL). A simplified model of a transmon qubit coupled to a cavity resonator is used to demonstrate a quantum circuit. We analyzed the circuit through its equivalent two-mode lumped-element representation of the distributed circuit and derived the equivalent Hamiltonian translation of the circuit with the non-linearity of the Josephson Junctions. We adopted the parametrized qubit junctions and used the component physical value to tune the circuits to maximize the fidelity of the desired entangle state and the resulting quantum circuit state. However, quantum systems are susceptible to environmental parasitics and noise; therefore, a reliable optimization technique is essential to maintain high fidelity across the system. For optimization, we integrate deep reinforcement learning using deep deterministic policy gradient techniques as our mechanism for our AI module to optimize the fidelity of the superconducting quantum circuit. We demonstrate the feasibility of this approach by training the agent in three distinct environments to achieve the highest possible best rewards. We achieved an average fidelity (best rewards) of 0.92, which is 94% of the statically tuned circuit.
