In the 19th century, the climate represented one of the difficulties for the establishment and adaptation of European settlers in the Itajaí Valley (SC). The objective was to describe and analyze the impressions of travellers' reports, by Dr. Hermann Blumenau and immigrants on the acclimatization of European settlers in the Itajaí Valley in the 19th and early 20th centuries. In the analyzed sources, statements consistent with the colonization of the region for European immigrants prevail, as they attribute a mild and healthy climate. The climate conditioned changes in the settlers' habits and served as propaganda associated with health and progress factors to attract new immigrants, No século XIX, o clima representou uma das dificuldades para o estabelecimento e adaptação dos colonos europeus no Vale do Itajaí (SC). O objetivo foi descrever e analisar as impressões dos relatos de viajantes, de Dr. Hermann Blumenau e de imigrantes sobre o aclimatamento dos colonos europeus no Vale do Itajaí no século XIX e início do século XX. Nas fontes analisadas, prevalecem afirmações condizentes à colonização da região para os imigrantes europeus ao atribuírem um clima ameno e saudável. O clima condicionou mudanças nos hábitos dos colonos e serviu de propaganda associada a fatores de saúde e progresso para atrair novos imigrantes.
