Flow is a gratifying state of deep involvement and absorption that individuals report when facing a challenging activity and they perceive adequate abilities to cope with it (EFRN, 2014). The flow concept was introduced by Csikszentmihalyi in 1975, and interest in flow research is growing. However, to our best knowledge, no scoping review exists that takes a systematic look at studies on flow which were published between the years 2000 and 2016. Overall, 252 studies have been included in this review. Our review (1) provides a framework to cluster flow research, (2) gives a systematic overview about existing studies and their findings, and (3) provides an overview about implications for future research. The provided framework consists of three levels of flow research. In the first “Individual” level are the categories for personality, motivation, physiology, emotion, cognition, and behavior. The second “Contextual” level contains the categories for contextual and interindividual factors and the third “Cultural” level contains cultural factors that relate to flow. Using our framework, we systematically present the findings for each category. While flow research has made progress in understanding flow, in the future, more experimental and longitudinal studies are needed to gain deeper insights into the causal structure of flow and its antecedents and consequences.

Este estudo tem como objetivo geral caracterizar o histórico de vitimização precoce em adultos, procurando conhecer as estratégias de enfrentamento, utilizadas ao longo do seu trajeto de vida, e que contribuíram para o seu funcionamento adaptativo atual. Para tal, recorreu-se a uma entrevista semiestruturada, administrada a 10 participantes com idades entre os 19 e os 41 anos (M = 26.1; DP = 8), cujo conteúdo foi sujeito a análise temática. A negligência surgiu como o tipo de mau trato mais identificado pelos participantes. Os participantes admitiram recorrer a diferentes estratégias para lidar com a adversidade precoce: coping focalizado na emoção e no problema. Os participantes assinalaram ainda o desenvolvimento de múltiplas competências ao nível do ajustamento, em termos sociais, profissionais, individuais e parentais. Estes resultados mostram a necessidade de na intervenção com crianças em risco se atenderem aos fatores protetivos e promotores de um funcionamento adaptativo., Early victimization and adaptive functioning in adults: coping strategies. This study aim to analyze and characterize the early history of victimization in adults, seeking to know and describe the coping strategies used and promoters of their current adaptative functioning. A semi-structured interview was administered to 10 participants aged between 19 to 41 years (M = 26.1, SD = 8). The thematic analysis was used to analyze the interviews. The neglect appears to be the most identified type of abuse. Participants admitted to use different strategies to deal with early adversity: coping focused on emotion and on problem. Participants also noted the development of multiple skills in adjustment: in terms of social, professional, individual and parenting. These results indicate that, in terms of intervention with children at risk, we must consider the protective factors.

Objetivo: Comprender el significado de la enfermedad, la muerte y el perdón en las mujeres con cáncer de mama y las concepciones sobre el futuro después de un diagnóstico de cáncer. Metodo: se desarrolló un enfoque cualitativo, mediante la realización de entrevistas semi-estructuradas con un grupo de ocho mujeres con diagnóstico de cáncer de mama. Las historias personales fueron analizadas utilizando Grounded Análisis para una comprensión integral y en profundidad del significado que los individuos atribuyen a su experiencia de vida. Resultados: indican que un diagnóstico de cáncer de mama tiene un impacto asociado con sentimientos de miedo, fracaso, dependencia y muerte. Para enfrentar el cáncer, la mujer busca construir un nuevo significado en conceptos tales como el perdón, la enfermedad, los sueños para el futuro, tratando de encontrar una redefinición de los roles asignados a él y que busca tener una nueva mirada sobre el sentido de la vida. Conclusiones: los resultados proporcionan indicadores importantes para los profesionales de salud, para entender los cambios y la alteración de significados que se producen en pacientes con cáncer, ya sea a nivel personal causada por la enfermedad y sus tratamientos, o a nivel familiar y social, e intervenir en la confrontación con el alivio del sufrimiento y la muerte.
