We use analytic continuation to extend the gauge/gravity duality nonperturbative description of the strong force coupling into the transition, near-perturbative, regime where perturbative effects become important. By excluding the unphysical region in coupling space from the flow of singularities in the complex plane, we derive a specific relation between the scales relevant at large and short distances; this relation is uniquely fixed by requiring maximal analyticity. The relation between the gluon density in a hadron and entanglement entropy can shed a new light on the high energy scattering behavior of hadrons. Using the holographic light-front QCD framework the growth above the classical geometric cross section is directly related to the increase of the internal quantum entropy from the entangled parton distribution in hadrons. A rather consistent picture emerges from the scale dependence of the Pomeron from the QCD evolution of the gluon distribution function $g(x, \mu)$, the rising of the integrated cross section in photoproduction of vector mesons, the deep inelastic scattering (DIS) experiments at HERA, hadron multiplicity and quantum entropy. The Pomeron Regge trajectory underlies the dynamics dependence of hadronic total cross sections and diffractive reactions at high energies. The physics of the Pomeron is closely related to the gluon distribution function and the gluon gravitational form factor of the target hadron. In this article we examine the scale dependence of the nonperturbative gluon distribution in the nucleon and the pion which was derived in a previous article [Phys. Rev. D 104, 114005 (2021)] in the framework of holographic light-front QCD and the Veneziano model. We argue that the QCD evolution of the gluon distribution function $g(x,\mu)$ to large $\mu^2$ leads to a single scale-dependent Pomeron. The resulting Pomeron trajectory $\alpha_P(t, \mu)$ not only depends on the momentum transfer squared $t$, but also on the physical scale $\mu$ of the amplitude, such as the virtuality $Q^2$ of the interacting photon in inclusive diffractive electroproduction. This can explain not only the $Q^2$ evolution of the proton structure function $F_2(x,Q^2)$ at small $x$, but also the observed energy and $Q^2$ dependence of high energy diffractive processes involving virtual photons up to LHC energies., Comment: 22 pages, 6 figures

Das Projekt incora - Inwertsetzung von Copernicus-Daten für die Raumbeobachtung veröffentlichte im Frühsommer 2022 eine Dashboard-Anwendung zum Monitoring von Nachhaltigkeitszielen der Flächeninanspruchnahme. Im Fokus der Anwendung steht das Monitoring der Siedlungs- und Verkehrsflächenentwicklung. Im Projekt wurde hierfür eine neue räumlich und zeitlich hochauflösende Datenquelle aus Sentinel-2-Landbedeckungsklassifikationen erstellt und weiteren Datensätzen aus dem amtlichen Geobasisdatenwesen und Erdbeobachtungsdaten der Europäischen Union gegenübergestellt. Mit ausgewählten Indikatoren werden die Menge der baulich neu in Anspruch genommenen Fläche sowie die Lageeigenschaften dieser Flächen im Hinblick auf städtebauliche und umweltbezogene Zielsetzungen bewertet. Das incora-Dashboard bietet die Möglichkeit, gesellschaftspolitische Fragestellungen zur Interpretation der Flächeninanspruchnahme in Deutschland zu veranschaulichen und zu versachlichen. Hierfür wurden neuartige Visualisierungen von Indikatoren in thematischen Karten und die Gegenüberstellung von Geoobjekten der Berechnungsgrundlage erarbeitet.

Für ein nachhaltiges Flächenmanagement, das die Bereitstellung von Bauland und die Verminderung der Flächenneuinanspruchnahme zusammendenkt, braucht es belastbare Grundlagendaten. Ziel der „Baulandumfrage“ war die Erhebung aktueller Daten und Informationen zu Baulandreserven und Innenentwicklungspotenzialen. Dabei wurden zudem Status, Methoden und Instrumente der Baulanderfassung und -mobilisierung erfasst. Ausgewertet wurden 692 validierte Datensätze von Städten und Gemeinden. Bundesweit hochgerechnet resultieren mindestens 84 000 ha Innenentwicklungspotenziale. Diese können einen erheblichen Beitrag zur Erreichung des 30-ha-Ziels leisten. Werden weitere baureife Baulandreserven mit gesicherter Erschließung hinzugerechnet, ergeben sich 99 000 ha Gesamtbaulandpotenzial, davon 55 % direkt oder kurzfristig mobilisierbar. Auf dem für Wohnen kurzfristig verfügbaren Anteil können je nach Dichteannahmen zwischen rund 900 000 und gut 2 Millionen Wohnungen gebaut werden. Bei der Innenentwicklung sind zugleich Grün- und Freiflächen zu sichern. Insgesamt trägt eine systematische Flächenerfassung, die immer mehr Kommunen durchführen, zur Transparenz von Potenzialflächen bei. Ein wesentlicher Engpassfaktor sind fehlende (Personal-) Kapazitäten der Kommunen.

This paper presents a comprehensive review of both the theory and experimental successes of Quantum Chromodynamics, starting with its emergence as a well defined theory in 1972-73 and following developments and results up to the present day. Topics include a review of the earliest theoretical and experimental foundations; the fundamental constants of QCD; an introductory discussion of lattice QCD, the only known method for obtaining exact predictions from QCD; methods for approximating QCD, with special focus on effective field theories; QCD under extreme conditions; measurements and predictions of meson and baryon states; a special discussion of the structure of the nucleon; techniques for study of QCD at high energy, including treatment of jets and showers; measurements at colliders; weak decays and quark mixing; and a section on the future, which discusses new experimental facilities or upgrades currently funded. The paper is intended to provide a broad background for Ph.D. students and postdocs starting their career. BackgroundGiven the growing number of people worldwide living with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), a larger subset of these patients are now susceptible to sustaining a traumatic injury. However, the impact of HIV on outcomes in trauma with modern antiretroviral treatment remains unclear. We hypothesized mortality and rates of infectious and inflammatory complications would be higher in HIV positive (HIV+) trauma patients.MethodsThe Trauma Quality Improvement Program was queried to identify trauma patients ≥ 18 years of age with HIV. Due to the imbalance between HIV+ and HIV negative (HIV-) trauma patients, a 1:2 propensity-matched model was utilized. Matched variables included age, injury severity score, mechanism of injury, systolic blood pressure, pulse rate, Glasgow Coma Scale score, and patient comorbidities.Results84 HIV+ patients were matched to 168 HIV- patients. Compared to HIV- patients, HIV+ patients had no significant differences in mortality rate (9.5% vs. 4.8%, p = 0.144) or infectious complications, including pneumonia (6.0% vs. 4.2%, p = 0.530), urinary tract infection (1.2% vs. 1.2%, p = 1.000), or severe sepsis (1.2% vs. 0.0%, p = 0.156). However, higher rates of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) (9.5% vs. 0.6%, p < 0.001) and acute kidney injury (AKI) (4.8% vs. 0.0%, p = 0.004) were observed.ConclusionHIV+ trauma patients are not at higher risk of mortality or infectious complications, likely due to the advent and prevalence of combination antiretroviral therapy. However, HIV positivity appears to increase the risk of AKI and ARDS in trauma patients. Further research is needed to confirm this finding to elucidate the etiology underlying this association.

Background: Glioblastoma (GBM) patients are at particularly high risk for thrombotic complications. In the event of a postoperative pulmonary embolism, therapeutic anticoagulation (tAC) is indispensable. The impact of therapeutic anticoagulation on recurrence pattern in GBM is currently unknown. Methods: We conducted a matched-pair cohort analysis of 57 GBM patients with or without tAC that were matched for age, sex, gross total resection and MGMT methylation status in a ratio of 1:2. Patients’ characteristics and clinical course were evaluated using medical charts. MRI characteristics were evaluated by two independent authors blinded to the AC status. Results: The morphologic MRI appearance in first GBM recurrence showed a significantly higher presence of multifocal, midline crossing and sharp demarcated GBM recurrence patterns in patients with therapeutic tAC compared to the matched control group. Although statistically non-significant, the therapeutic tAC cohort showed increased survival. Conclusion: Therapeutic anticoagulation induced significant morphologic changes in GBM recurrences. The underlying pathophysiology is discussed in this article but remains to be further elucidated.

Motivation Expert curation to differentiate between functionally diverged homologs and those that may still share a similar function routinely relies on the visual interpretation of domain architecture changes. However, the size of contemporary data sets integrating homologs from hundreds to thousands of species calls for alternate solutions. Scoring schemes to evaluate domain architecture similarities can help to automatize this procedure, in principle. But existing schemes are often too simplistic in the similarity assessment, many require an a-priori resolution of overlapping domain annotations, and those that allow overlaps to extend the set of annotations sources cannot account for redundant annotations. As a consequence, the gap between the automated similarity scoring and the similarity assessment based on visual architecture comparison is still too wide to make the integration of both approaches meaningful. Results Here, we present FAS, a scoring system for the comparison of multi-layered feature architectures integrating information from a broad spectrum of annotation sources. Feature architectures are represented as directed acyclic graphs, and redundancies are resolved in the course of comparison using a score maximization algorithm. A benchmark using more than 10,000 human-yeast ortholog pairs reveals that FAS consistently outperforms existing scoring schemes. Using three examples, we show how automated architecture similarity assessments can be routinely applied in the benchmarking of orthology assignment software, in the identification of functionally diverged orthologs, and in the identification of entries in protein collections that most likely stem from a faulty gene prediction.

The aim of this study was to detect a response difference in primary (PLC) and secondary liver tumors (SLC) with magnetic resonance elastography (MRE) after TACE therapy. Thirty-one patients (25/31 male; mean age 69.6 years [range: 39–85 years]) with repeated TACE therapy of HCC were compared with twenty-seven patients (27/27 female; mean age 61.2 years [range 39–81 years]) with repeated TACE therapy of metastatic liver disease due to breast cancer. Both groups underwent either one (n = 31) or two (n = 27) repetitive magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and MRE exams in 4- to 6-week intervals using a 1.5-T-scanner. MRE-based liver stiffness and size measurements were evaluated in tumorous lesions and in healthy liver lobe controls. PLC showed a significantly larger tumor size compared to SLC (26.4 cm2 vs. 11 cm2, p = 0.007) and a higher degree of stiffness (5.8 kPa vs. 5.1 kPa, p = 0.04). Both tumors decreased in size during the cycles (PLC: p = 0.8 and SLC: p < 0.0001) and lesions showed an increase in stiffness (PLC: p = 0.002 and SLC: p = 0.006). MRE demonstrates that PLC and SLC have similar responses to TACE therapy. PLC had a greater increase in stiffness and SLC got smaller. An increasing stiffness and decrease in size could show a good response.

The holographic light-front QCD framework provides a unified nonperturbative description of the hadron mass spectrum, form factors and quark distributions. In this article we extend holographic QCD in order to describe the gluonic distribution in both the proton and pion from the coupling of the metric fluctuations induced by the spin-two Pomeron with the energy momentum tensor in anti--de Sitter space, together with constraints imposed by the Veneziano model{\color{blue},} without additional free parameters. Trauma pancreaticoduodenectomy (TP) remains a challenging operation with morbidity and mortality rates as high as 80% and 50%. Many trauma surgeons consider it surgical dogma to avoid performing a TP during the index operation for patients with severe pancreatic or duodenal injuries. However, there is no modern analysis evaluating this belief. Therefore, we hypothesized no difference in risk of mortality between patients with severe pancreatic or duodenal injury undergoing a TP for penetrating trauma to propensity-matched controls undergoing laparotomy without TP. The Trauma Quality Improvement Program (2010-2016) was queried for adults with severe penetrating pancreatic or duodenal injuries undergoing laparotomy. A 1:2 propensity-matching including demographics/comorbidities, injury severity score, vitals on admission, Glasgow Coma Scale and concomitant injuries for laparotomy with or without TP was performed. Risk of mortality was reported using a univariable logistic regression model. Of 2182 patients with severe pancreatic or duodenal injuries undergoing laparotomy, 54 (2.5%) underwent TP and 2128 (97.5%) underwent laparotomy without TP. There were no differences in propensity-matching characteristics. Patients undergoing TP had a similar mortality rate (20.0% vs. 28.7%, p = 0.302) but a longer length of stay (LOS) (27.5 vs. 16.5 days, p = 0.017). The TP group had a similar associated risk of mortality (OR = 0.62, p = 0.302) but higher risk of major complications (OR 3.44, CI 1.35-17.47, p = 0.015). In appropriately selected penetrating trauma patients with severe pancreatic/duodenal injuries, TP is associated with a similar risk of mortality compared to laparotomy without TP. However, TP patients did have an increased associated risk of major complications and longer LOS.

Mit dem Weißbuch Stadtgrün hat sich der Bund den Arbeitsauftrag gegeben, urbanes Grün bei der Stadtentwicklung zu stärken. Grundlage hierfür sind valide, zeitreihenfähige und qualifizierte Informationen zur Grünausstattung und zum Grünvolumen. Der Beitrag beschreibt zunächst die Grünausstattung und -entwicklung anhand der Flächenstatistik. Ergänzend dazu braucht es weitere Datengrundlagen. Dafür wurde in einem Ressortforschungsprojekt die Grünausstattung flächendeckend für alle deutschen Städte mittels Fernerkundung erfasst und ein Konzept für ein dauerhaftes Grünmonitoring erarbeitet. Dessen Methodik und erste Ergebnisse der bundesweiten Klassifikation werden hier beschrieben. Zudem werden Ergebnisse einer bundesweiten Landbedeckungsklassifikation für die Grünausstattung aus einem weiteren Projekt - incora - vorgestellt. An Fallbeispielen wird zudem das kleinräumige Potenzial für Grünqualität, Grünvolumen, Grünerreichbarkeit und zur sozialräumlichen Grünausstattung dargelegt.

Background: Glioblastoma (GBM) is a cancer type with high thrombogenic potential and GBM patients are therefore at a particularly high risk for thrombotic events. To date only limited data on anticoagulation management after pulmonary embolism (PE) in GBM is available and the sporadic use of DOACs remains off-label. Methods: A retrospective cohort analysis of patients with GBM and postoperative, thoracic CT-scan confirmed, PE was performed. Clinical course, follow-up at 6 and 12 months and the overall survival (OS) were evaluated using medical charts and neuroradiological data. Results: Out of 584 GBM patients, 8% suffered from postoperative PE. Out of theses, 30% received direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) and 70% low-molecular-weight heparin (LMWH) for therapeutic anticoagulation. There was no significant difference in major intracranial hemorrhage (ICH), re-thrombosis or re-embolism between the two cohorts. Although statistically non-significant, a tendency to reduced mRS at 6- and 12 months was observed in the LMWH cohort. Furthermore, patients receiving DOACs had a statistical benefit in OS. Conclusion: In our analysis DOACs showed a satisfactory safety profile in terms of major ICH, re-thrombosis and re-embolism compared to LMWH in GBM patients with postoperative PE. Prospective, randomized trials are urgent to evaluate DOACs for therapeutic anticoagulation in GBM patients with PE.

Accurate prediction of water temperature in streams is critical for monitoring and understanding biogeochemical and ecological processes in streams. Stream temperature is affected by weather patterns (such as solar radiation) and water flowing through the stream network. Additionally, stream temperature can be substantially affected by water releases from man-made reservoirs to downstream segments. In this paper, we propose a heterogeneous recurrent graph model to represent these interacting processes that underlie stream-reservoir networks and improve the prediction of water temperature in all river segments within a network. Because reservoir release data may be unavailable for certain reservoirs, we further develop a data assimilation mechanism to adjust the deep learning model states to correct for the prediction bias caused by reservoir releases. A well-trained temporal modeling component is needed in order to use adjusted states to improve future predictions. Hence, we also introduce a simulation-based pre-training strategy to enhance the model training. Our evaluation for the Delaware River Basin has demonstrated the superiority of our proposed method over multiple existing methods. We have extensively studied the effect of the data assimilation mechanism under different scenarios. Moreover, we show that the proposed method using the pre-training strategy can still produce good predictions even with limited training data.

Purpose: In patients with pyogenic spondylodiscitis, surgery is considered the treatment of choice to conduct proper debridement, stabilise the spine and avoid extended bed rest, which in turn is a risk factor for complications such as deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism. Methods: We conducted a retrospective clinical study with analysis of a group of 99 patients who had undergone treatment for pyogenic discitis at our institution between June 2012 and August 2017. Included parameters were age, sex, disease pattern, the presence of deep vein thrombosis, resuscitation, in-hospital mortality, present anticoagulation, preexisting comorbidities, tobacco abuse, body mass index, microbiological germ detection and laboratory results. Results: Among the analysed cohort, 12% of the treated patients for pyogenic spondylodiscitis suffered from a radiologically confirmed pulmonary embolism. Coronary heart disease (p < 0.01), female sex (p < 0.01), anticoagulation at admission (p < 0.01) and non-O blood type (p < 0.001) were associated with development of pulmonary embolism. Pulmonary embolism was significantly associated with resuscitation (p < 0.005) and deep vein thrombosis (p < 0.001). Neurosurgery was not associated with increased risk for pulmonary embolism compared to conservative-treated patients (p > 0.05). Conclusion: Surgery for pyogenic spondylodiscitis was not associated with an elevated risk of pulmonary embolism in our analysis. However, we describe several risk factors for pulmonary embolism in this vulnerable cohort. Prospective studies are necessary to improve prevention and postoperative management in patients with pyogenic spondylodiscitis.

The topical workshop {\it Strong QCD from Hadron Structure Experiments} took place at Jefferson Lab from Nov. 6-9, 2019. Impressive progress in relating hadron structure observables to the strong QCD mechanisms has been achieved from the {\it ab initio} QCD description of hadron structure in a diverse array of methods in order to expose emergent phenomena via quasi-particle formation. The wealth of experimental data and the advances in hadron structure theory make it possible to gain insight into strong interaction dynamics in the regime of large quark-gluon coupling (the strong QCD regime), which will address the most challenging problems of the Standard Model on the nature of the dominant part of hadron mass, quark-gluon confinement, and the emergence of the ground and excited state hadrons, as well as atomic nuclei, from QCD. This workshop aimed to develop plans and to facilitate the future synergistic efforts between experimentalists, phenomenologists, and theorists working on studies of hadron spectroscopy and structure with the goal to connect the properties of hadrons and atomic nuclei available from data to the strong QCD dynamics underlying their emergence from QCD. We give an overview of recent progress into the infrared structure of QCD based on the gauge/gravity correspondence and light-front quantization, where the color confining interaction for mesons and baryons is determined by an underlying superconformal algebraic structure. This new approach to hadron physics gives remarkable connections and predictions across the entire mass spectrum of hadrons and also describes the infrared behavior of the strong coupling. More recently, an extensive study of form factors, polarized and unpolarized parton distributions and the sea quark contribution to the nucleon has been carried out by extending the holographic formalism to incorporate the nonperturbative structure of Veneziano amplitudes. We present the first lattice QCD calculation of the charm quark contribution to the nucleon electromagnetic form factors $G^c_{E,M}(Q^2)$ in the momentum transfer range $0\leq Q^2 \leq 1.4$ $\rm GeV^2$. The quark mass dependence, finite lattice spacing and volume corrections are taken into account simultaneously based on the calculation on three gauge ensembles including one at the physical pion mass. The nonzero value of the charm magnetic moment $\mu^c_M=-0.00127(38)_{\rm stat}(5)_{\rm sys}$, as well as the Pauli form factor, reflects a nontrivial role of the charm sea in the nucleon spin structure. The nonzero $G^c_{E}(Q^2)$ indicates the existence of a nonvanishing asymmetric charm-anticharm sea in the nucleon. Performing a nonperturbative analysis based on holographic QCD and the generalized Veneziano model, we study the constraints on the $[c(x)-\bar{c}(x)]$ distribution from the lattice QCD results presented here. Our results provide complementary information and motivation for more detailed studies of physical observables that are sensitive to intrinsic charm and for future global analyses of parton distributions including asymmetric charm-anticharm distribution., Comment: Published version, Physics Letters B

Nephroptosis is a rare complication in renal transplantation, but one with significant associated risk. Due to non-specific clinical features, there may be a substantial delay in diagnosis and loss of the transplanted kidney due to renal pedicle thrombosis. We present a case of post-transplantation nephroptosis after simultaneous pancreas and kidney transplant, which resulted in accelerated hypertension and reversible acute kidney injury >1 year after transplantation. Prompt detection of this rare entity leading to expeditious surgical intervention is necessary to preserve viability of the renal allograft.

In this article a systematic quantitative analysis of the isoscalar bosonic states is performed in the framework of supersymmetric light front holographic QCD. It is shown that the spectroscopy of the $\eta$ and $h$ mesons can be well described if one additional mass parameter -- which corresponds to the hard breaking of chiral $U(1)$ symmetry in standard QCD -- is introduced. The mass difference of the $\eta$ and $\eta'$ isoscalar mesons is then determined by the strange quark mass content of the $\eta'$. The theory also predicts the existence of isoscalar tetraquarks which are bound states of diquarks and anti-diquarks. The candidates for these exotic isoscalar tetraquarks are identified. We propose a unified new approach to describe polarized and unpolarized quark distributions in the proton based on the gauge-gravity correspondence, light-front holography, and the generalized Veneziano model. We find that the spin-dependent quark distributions are uniquely determined in terms of the unpolarized distributions by chirality separation without the introduction of additional free parameters. The predictions are consistent with existing experimental data and agree with perturbative QCD constraints at large longitudinal momentum $x$. In particular, we predict the sign reversal of the polarized down-quark distribution in the proton at $x=0.8\pm0.03$, a key property of nucleon substructure which will be tested very soon in upcoming experiments., Comment: 7 pages, 3 figures, version to appear in Physical Review Letters

For the restoration of biodiversity in agricultural grasslands, it is essential to understand how management acts as an ecological filter on the resident species. Mowing constitutes such a filter: only species that possess functional traits enabling them to withstand its consequences can persist in the community. We investigated how the timing of mowing modulates this filtering effect for insects. We predicted that two traits drive species responses. Species with larval development within the meadow vegetation will suffer more from mowing than species whose larvae develop in or on the ground, or outside the meadows, while species with a later phenology should benefit from later mowing. We conducted a five‐year experiment, replicated at 12 sites across the Swiss lowlands, applying three different mowing regimes to low‐intensity hay meadows: (1) first cut of the year not earlier than 15 June (control regime); (2) the first cut delayed until 15 July; and (3) leaving an uncut grass refuge on 10–20% of the meadow area (after earliest first cut on 15 June). Before the first cut in years 4 or 5, we sampled larvae of Lepidoptera and sawflies, and adults of moths, parasitoid wasps, wild bees, hoverflies, ground beetles, and rove beetles. Overall, before the first cut of the year, abundances of species with vegetation‐dwelling larvae were higher in meadows with delayed mowing or an uncut grass refuge, with some taxon‐specific variation. In contrast, species whose larval development is independent of the meadow vegetation showed no differences in abundance between mowing regimes. Species richness did not differ among regimes. For species with vegetation‐dwelling larvae, a fourth‐corner analysis showed an association between early phenology and the control regime. No associations were found for the other functional groups. ObjectivesTrauma patients undergoing damage-control surgery may have a planned return to the operating room. In contrast, little is known about unplanned returns to the operating room (uROR) in trauma. The aim of this study was to identify risk factors for uROR in trauma patients. It is hypothesized that blunt trauma patients with uROR have higher mortality when compared to penetrating trauma patients with uROR. Additionally, it is hypothesized that trauma patients with uROR after thoracotomy have higher mortality than patients with uROR after laparotomy.Material and methodsA retrospective analysis of the National Trauma Data Bank from 2011-2015 including any adult patient with an uROR was performed.ResultsFrom 3.447.320 patients, 9.269 (0.2%) were identified to have uROR. In a multivariable logistic regression analysis, 27 independent predictors were identified for risk of uROR with the strongest independent risk factor being compartment syndrome (OR= 10.50, CI= 9.35-11.78, p <0.001). Blunt (compared to penetrating) mechanism was associated with higher risk for mortality in patents with uROR (OR= 1.69, CI= 1.14-2.51, p <0.001) as was re-incision thoracotomy (RT) compared to re-incision laparotomy (RL) (OR= 2.22, CI= 1.29-3.84, p <0.001).ConclusionThe strongest risk factor for uROR in trauma is compartment syndrome. Both a blunt (compared to penetrating) mechanism and RT (compared to RL) are independent risk factors for mortality in patients undergoing an uROR.

We demonstrate that a nonzero strangeness contribution to the spacelike electromagnetic form factor of the nucleon is evidence for a strange-antistrange asymmetry in the nucleon's light-front wave function, thus implying different nonperturbative contributions to the strange and antistrange quark distribution functions. A recent lattice QCD calculation of the nucleon strange quark form factor predicts that the strange quark distribution is more centralized in coordinate space than the antistrange quark distribution, and thus the strange quark distribution is more spread out in light-front momentum space. We show that the lattice prediction implies that the difference between the strange and antistrange parton distribution functions, $s(x)-\bar{s}(x)$, is negative at small-$x$ and positive at large-$x$. We also evaluate the strange quark form factor and $s(x)-\bar{s}(x)$ using a baryon-meson fluctuation model and a novel nonperturbative model based on light-front holographic QCD. This procedure leads to a Veneziano-like expression of the form factor, which depends exclusively on the twist of the hadron and the properties of the Regge trajectory of the vector meson which couples to the quark current in the hadron. The holographic structure of the model allows us to introduce unambiguously quark masses in the form factors and quark distributions preserving the hard scattering counting rule at large-$Q^2$ and the inclusive counting rule at large-$x$. Quark masses modify the Regge intercept which governs the small-$x$ behavior of quark distributions, therefore modifying their small-$x$ singular behavior. Relativistic light-front bound-state equations for double-heavy mesons, baryons and tetraquarks are constructed in the framework of supersymmetric light front holographic QCD. Although heavy quark masses strongly break conformal symmetry, supersymmetry and the holographic embedding of semiclassical light-front dynamics still holds. The theory, derived from five-dimensional anti-de Sitter space, predicts that the form of the confining potential in the light-front Hamiltonian is harmonic even for heavy quarks. Therefore, the basic underlying supersymmetric mechanism, which transforms meson-baryon and baryon-tetraquark wave functions into each other, can also be applied to the double-heavy sector; one can then successfully relate the masses of the double-heavy mesons to double-heavy baryons and tetraquarks. The dependence of the confining potential on the hadron mass scale agrees completely with the one derived in heavy light systems from heavy quark symmetry. We also make predictions for higher excitations of the charmonium and bottomonium states. In particular, the remarkable equality of the Regge slopes in the orbital angular momentum, $L$, and the principal quantum number, $n$, is predicted to remain valid., Comment: Revised version accepted for publication in Phys. The aim of these lectures is to convey a working knowledge of Light Front Holographic QCD and Supersymmetric Light Front Holographic QCD. We first give an overview of holographic QCD in general and then concentrate on the application of the holographic methods on QCD quantized in the light front form. We show how the implementation of the supersymmetric algebra fixes the interaction and how one can obtain hadron mass spectra with the minimal number of parameters. We also treat propagators and compare the holographic approach with other non-perturbative methods. In the last chapter we describe the application of Light Front Holographic QCD to electromagnetic form factors.

IMPORTANCE Early exposure to complex dietary proteins may increase the risk of type 1 diabetes in children with genetic disease susceptibility. There are no intact proteins in extensively hydrolyzed formulas. OBJECTIVE To test the hypothesis that weaning to an extensively hydrolyzed formula decreases the cumulative incidence of type 1 diabetes in young children. DESIGN, SETTING, AND PARTICIPANTS An international double-blind randomized clinical trial of 2159 infants with human leukocyte antigen-conferred disease susceptibility and a first-degree relative with type 1 diabetes recruited from May 2002 to January 2007 in 78 study centers in 15 countries; 1081 were randomized to be weaned to the extensively hydrolyzed casein formula and 1078 to a conventional formula. The follow-up of the participants ended on February 28, 2017. INTERVENTIONS The participants received either a casein hydrolysate or a conventional adapted cows milk formula supplemented with 20% of the casein hydrolysate. The minimum duration of study formula exposure was 60 days by 6 to 8 months of age. MAIN OUTCOMES AND MEASURES Primary outcome was type 1 diabetes diagnosed according to World Health Organization criteria. Secondary outcomes included age at diabetes diagnosis and safety (adverse events). RESULTS Among 2159 newborn infants (1021 female [47.3%]) who were randomized, 1744 (80.8%) completed the trial. The participants were observed for a median of 11.5 years (quartile [Q] 1-Q3, 10.2-12.8). The absolute risk of type 1 diabetes was 8.4% among those randomized to the casein hydrolysate (n = 91) vs 7.6% among those randomized to the conventional formula (n = 82) (difference, 0.8%[95% CI, -1.6% to 3.2%]). The hazard ratio for type 1 diabetes adjusted for human leukocyte antigen risk group, duration of breastfeeding, duration of study formula consumption, sex, and region while treating study center as a random effect was 1.1 (95% CI, 0.8 to 1.5; P = .46). The structure of generalized parton distributions is determined from light-front holographic QCD up to a universal reparametrization function $w(x)$ which incorporates Regge behavior at small $x$ and inclusive counting rules at $x \to 1$. A simple ansatz for $w(x)$ which fulfills these physics constraints with a single-parameter results in precise descriptions of both the nucleon and the pion quark distribution functions in comparison with global fits. The analytic structure of the amplitudes leads to a connection with the Veneziano model and hence to a nontrivial connection with Regge theory and the hadron spectrum., Comment: 8 pages, 5 figures. Der anhaltende Zuzug in die Städte verbunden mit Wohnungsbau fördert die Innenentwicklung durch Nachverdichtung. Was flächenpolitisch zu begrüßen ist, erfordert neue Konzepte für Schutz, Vernetzung, Zugänglichkeit und Qualität von Grünflächen. Denn der Nutzungsdruck auf die verbleibenden Grünflächen nimmt zu. Sie werden vielfach verkleinert, bebaut und versiegelt. Der Beitrag beleuchtet den steigenden Nutzungsdruck, erläutert zentrale Aktivitäten des Bundes auf Basis des Weißbuches Stadtgrün, thematisiert Orientierungs- und Kennwerte für Stadtgrün und gibt einen Einblick in ausgewählte Forschungsvorhaben des BBSR. Dabei übernimmt die urbane grüne Infrastruktur vielfältige soziale, gesundheitliche, wirtschaftliche, ökologische und klimatische Funktionen und sorgt für mehr Lebensqualität, Umweltgerechtigkeit, Stadtnatur, Klimaresilienz oder Gesundheitsvorsorge.

Eine dauerhaft flächensparende, umwelt- und sozialverträgliche Siedlungsentwicklung benötigt wirksame Instrumente. Damit verbunden ist eine Erfolgskontrolle des Flächensparziels unter 30 Hektar täglich bundesweit bis 2030, die ein belastbares Siedlungsflächenmonitoring voraussetzt. Im Fokus des Beitrags stehen das Flächenmonitoring des Bundes und dessen Datenquellen zwischen Anspruch und Praxis. Für den Bund sollten Daten bundesweit flächendeckend verfügbar, zeitreihenfähig, vergleichbar und regional differenzierbar sein. Derzeit stellt die Umstellung der Erhebungsgrundlagen auf ALKIS einen Bruch in der Erfassung dar. Künftig könnten die Daten auch Flächenbilanzierungen ermöglichen, sofern sie für den Bund verfügbar sind. Dies mündet in Überlegungen für ein differenzierteres Siedlungsflächenbarometer für Bund, Länder und Kommunen.
