The concept of Web Applications and software in general is very present in our everyday lives, and from the consumer perspective it might seem simple, as we only see the final product. But, to develop this software, there is a lot going on behind the scenes that we do not see, in fact, building software continuously and with a certain level of quality is a very complex task and takes a lot of effort. In this project I aim to analyse and compare existing application development security models and tools, focusing on how they are applied to DevOps (Software Development and IT Operations). From the comparisons, I will choose the best model according to my opinion and I will apply the model to the implementation of web services and applications. After the implementation of the use case. At the end, I will discuss possible improvements and changes for the approach used to develop the application.

We present Fabry-Perot observations in the H$\alpha$ and [S II] lines to study the kinematics of the Magellanic-type dwarf irregular galaxy NGC 1569, these observations allowed us to computed the H$\alpha$ velocity field of this galaxy. Doing a detailed analysis of the velocity along the line-of-sight and H$\alpha$ velocity profiles, we identified the origin of most of the motions in the innermost parts of the galaxy and discarded the possibility of deriving a rotation curve that traces the gravitational well of the galaxy. We analysed the kinematics of the ionised gas around 31 supernova remnants previously detected in NGC 1569 by other authors, in optical and radio emission. We found that the H$\alpha$ velocity profiles of the supernova remnants are complex indicating the presence of shocks. Fitting these profiles with several Gaussian functions, we computed their expansion velocities which rank from 87 to 188 km s$^{-1}$ confirming they are supernova remnants. Also, we determined the physical properties such as electron density, mechanical energy, and kinematic age for 30 of the 31 supernova remnants and found they are in the radiative phase with an energy range from 1 to 39$\times$10$^{50}$ erg s$^{-1}$ and an age from 2.3 to 8.9$\times$10$^4$ yr. Finally, we estimated the Surface Brightness - Diameter ($\Sigma$-D) Relation for NGC 1569 and obtained a slope $\beta$ = 1.26$\pm$0.2, comparable with the $\beta$ value obtained for supernova remnants in galaxies M31 and M33., Comment: 20 pages, 10 Figures

El gascó pirinenc oriental —on s'inclouen les varietats de la Vall d'Aran— ha estat objecte de nombroses publicacions on sovint apareixen designacions de vegetals. Tanmateix, també és freqüent que aquests mateixos treballs presentin llacunes i contradiccions, fins al punt que rarament podem establir catàlegs detallats i exhaustius de les formes usades en determinades zones o localitats. Amb dades de vint anys d'enquestes dialectològiques a la mà (que un dia ens han de permetre arribar a l'objectiu d'un nou atles lingüístic aranès), aquest article vol explicar i determinar la distribució territorial de les designacions corresponents a dos referents vegetals: les del timó (o farigola) i el serpoll (o timó de muntanya). En el primer cas conviuen apeŀlacions autòctones i d'altres d'importades. En el segon es pot observar, a més, una realització africada fora de les poblacions on -[tʃ] (, Eastern Pyrenean Gascon (including the varieties spoken in the Valley of Aran) has been the object of study of numerous publications in which plant names are often found. However, these studies commonly contain gaps and contradictions, so that it is rarely possible to establish detailed, exhaustive lists of the forms used in certain areas and places. Relying on twenty years' dialectal surveys (which will one day allow us to devise a new Aranese linguistic atlas), this article is an attempt to account for and determine the territorial distribution of the names of two vegetal species : those referring to thyme (timó/farigola) and those referring to wild thyme (serpoll/timó de muntanya). In the first case, there are both native and imported terms. In the second case, there is an affricatedarticulation outside of places where the change from -ll' to -[tʃ] is regular. It seems that it involves just a couple of examples that reveal the existence of geolinguistic differences within this small mountain area, but which point to the need for a more in-depth examination of the plant names there.

Context: Encounters between galaxies modify their morphology, kinematics, and star formation history. The relation between these changes and external perturbations is not straightforward. The great number of parameters involved requires both the study of large samples and individual encounters where particular features, motions, and perturbations can be traced and analysed in detail. Aims: We analysed the morphology, kinematics, and dynamics of two luminous infrared spiral galaxies of almost equal mass, NGC 5257 and NGC 5258, in which star formation is mostly confined to the spiral arms, in order to understand interactions between galaxies of equivalent masses and star-forming processes during the encounter. Methods: Using scanning Fabry–Perot interferometry, we studied the contribution of circular and non-circular motions and the response of the ionized gas to external perturbations. We compared the kinematics with direct images and traced the star-forming processes and gravitational effects due to the presence of the other galaxy. The spectral energy distribution of each member of the pair was fitted. A mass model was fitted to the rotation curve of each galaxy. Results: Large, non-circular motions detected in both galaxies are associated with a bar, spiral arms, and HII regions for the inner parts of the galaxies, and with the tidal interaction for the outer parts of the discs. Bifurcations in the rotation curves indicate that the galaxies have recently undergone pericentric passage. The pattern speed of a perturbation of one of the galaxies is computed. Location of a possible corotation seems to indicate that the gravitational response of the ionized gas in the outer parts of the disc is related to the regions where ongoing star formation is confined. The spectral energy distribution fit indicates slightly different star formation history for each member of the pair. For both galaxies, a pseudo-isothermal halo better fits the global mass distribution.

We present direct images in the H$\alpha$ and [SII]$\lambda \lambda$6717,6731 $\text{\AA}$ lines of the Galactic Supernova Remnant G109.1-1.0 (CTB 109). We confirm that the filaments detected are the optical counterpart of the X-ray and radio supernova remnant due to their high [SII]/H$\alpha$ line-ratios. We study for the first time the kinematics of the optical counterpart of SNR CTB 109 using the UNAM scanning Fabry-Perot interferometer PUMA. We estimate a systemic velocity of V$_{LSR}$=-50$\pm$6 km s$^{-1}$ for this remnant and an expansion velocity of V$_{exp}$=230$\pm$5 km s$^{-1}$. From this velocity value and taking into account previous studies about the kinematics of objects at that Galactic longitude we derive a distance to the SNR CTB 109 of 3.1$\pm$0.2 kpc, locating it in the Perseus arm. Using the [SII]$\lambda$6717/[SII]$\lambda$6731 line-ratio we find an electronic density value around n$_e$= 580 cm$^{-3}$. Considering that this remnant is evolving in a low density medium with higher density cloudlets responsible of the optical emission, we determine the age and energy deposited in the ISM by the supernova explosion (E$_0$) in both the Sedov-Taylor phase and the radiative phase. For both cases the age is of thousands of years and the E$_0$ is rather typical of SNRs containing simple pulsars so that, the energy released to the ISM cannot be used to distinguish between supernova remnants hosting typical pulsars from those hosting powerful magnetars as in the case of CTB 109., Comment: 14 pages, 8 Figures, Accepted for publication in MNRAS

We present a kinematical study of the nearly edge-on galaxy ESO 379-G006 that shows the existence of extraplanar ionized gas. With Fabry-Perot spectroscopy at H-alpha, we study the kinematics of ESO 379-G006 using velocity maps and position-velocity diagrams parallel to the major and to the minor axis of the galaxy. We build the rotation curve of the disk and discuss the role of projection effects due to the fact of viewing this galaxy nearly edge-on. The twisting of the isovelocities in the radial velocity field of the disk of ESO 379-G006 as well as the kinematic asymmetries found in some position-velocity diagrams parallel to the minor axis of the galaxy suggest the existence of deviations to circular motions in the disk that can be modeled and explained with the inclusion of a radial inflow probably generated by a bar or by spiral arms. We succeeded in detecting extraplanar Diffuse Ionized Gas in this galaxy. At the same time, from the analysis of position-velocity diagrams, we found some evidence that the extraplanar gas could lag in rotation velocity with respect to the midplane rotation., Comment: 61 pages, 15 figures. A major research challenge in distributed systems is the design of services that incorporate robustness to events such as network changes and node faults. In this paper we describe an approach ï½ which we refer to as EmbryoWare ï½ that is inspired by cellular development and differentiation processes. The approach uses ï½artificial stem cellsï½ in the form of totipotent nodes that differentiate into the different types needed to obtain the desired systemï½level behaviour. Each node has a genome that contains the full service specification, as well as rules for the differentiation process. We describe the system architecture and present simulation results that assess the overall performance and fault tolerance properties of the system in a decentralized network monitoring scenario.

In this work we report on a method, based on the use of activation-inhibition mechanisms, for building and maintaining high-rate routing paths (data highways) in dense wireless sensor networks. Intermediate mass galaxies (logM(Msun)>10) at z~0.6 are the likeliest progenitors of the present-day numerous population of spirals. There is growing evidence that they have evolved rapidly since the last 6 to 8 Gyr ago, and likely have formed a significant fraction of their stellar mass, often showing perturbed morphologies and kinematics. We have gathered a representative sample of 88 such galaxies and have provided robust estimates of their gas phase metallicity. For doing so, we have used moderate spectral resolution spectroscopy at VLT/FORS2 with unprecedented high S/N allowing to remove biases coming from interstellar absorption lines and extinction to establish robust values of R23=([OII]3727 + [OIII]4959,5007)/Hbeta. We definitively confirm that the predominant population of z~0.6 starbursts and luminous IR galaxies (LIRGs) are on average, two times less metal rich than the local galaxies at a given stellar mass. We do find that the metal abundance of the gaseous phase of galaxies is evolving linearly with time, from z=1 to z=0 and after comparing with other studies, from z=3 to z=0. Combining our results with the reported evolution of the Tully Fisher relation, we do find that such an evolution requires that ~30% of the stellar mass of local galaxies have been formed through an external supply of gas, thus excluding the close box model. Distant starbursts & LIRGs have properties (metal abundance, star formation efficiency & morphologies) similar to those of local LIRGs. Their underlying physics is likely dominated by gas infall probably through merging or interactions. Our study further supports the rapid evolution of z~0.4-1 galaxies. Using the multi-integral field spectrograph GIRAFFE at VLT, we have derived the K-band Tully-Fisher relation (TFR) at z~0.6 for a representative sample of 65 galaxies with emission lines. We confirm that the scatter in the z~0.6 TFR is caused by galaxies with anomalous kinematics, and find a positive and strong correlation between the complexity of the kinematics and the scatter that they contribute to the TFR. Considering only relaxed-rotating disks, the scatter, and possibly also the slope of the TFR, do not appear to evolve with z. We detect an evolution of the K-band TFR zero point between z~0.6 and z=0, which, if interpreted as an evolution of the K-band luminosity of rotating disks, would imply that a brightening of 0.66+/-0.14 mag occurs between z~0.6 and z=0. Any disagreement with the results of Flores et al. (2006) are attributed to both an improvement of the local TFR and the more detailed accurate measurement of the rotation velocities in the distant sample. Most of the uncertainty can be explained by the relatively coarse spatial-resolution of the kinematical data. Because most rotating disks at z~0.6 are unlikely to experience further merging events, one may assume that their rotational velocity does not evolve dramatically. If true, our result implies that rotating disks observed at z~0.6 are rapidly transforming their gas into stars, to be able to double their stellar masses and be observed on the TFR at z=0. The rotating disks observed are indeed emission-line galaxies that are either starbursts or LIRGs, which implies that they are forming stars at a high rate. Thus, a significant fraction of the rotating disks are forming the bulk of their stars within 6 to 8 Gyr, in good agreement with former studies of the evolution of the M-Z relation., Comment: 17 pages, 11 figures, accepted for publication in A&A. v2 taking into account comments from language editor

Rotation curves of interacting galaxies often show that velocities are either rising or falling in the direction of the companion galaxy. We seek to reproduce and analyse these features in the rotation curves of simulated equal-mass galaxies suffering a one-to-one encounter, as possible indicators of close encounters. Using simulations of major mergers in 3D, we study the time evolution of these asymmetries in a pair of galaxies, during the first passage. Our main results are: (a) the rotation curve asymmetries appear right at pericentre of the first passage, (b) the significant disturbed rotation velocities occur within a small time interval, of ~ 0.5 Gyr h^-1, and therefore the presence of bifurcation in the velocity curve could be used as an indicator of the pericentre occurrence. These results are in qualitative agreement with previous findings for minor mergers and fly-byes., Comment: 4 pages, 7 figures

We present a first combined analysis of the morphological and dynamical properties for the Intermediate MAss Galaxy Evolution Sequence (IMAGES) sample. It is a representative sample of 52 z~0.6 galaxies with Mstell from 1.5 to 15 10^10Msun and possessing 3D resolved kinematics and HST deep imaging in at least two broad band filters. We aim at evaluate robustly the evolution of rotating spirals since z~0.6, as well as to test the different schemes for classifying galaxies morphologically. We used all the information provided by multi-band images, color maps and 2 dimensional light fitting to assign to each object a morphological class. We divided our sample between spiral disks, peculiar objects, compact objects and mergers. Using our morphological classification scheme, 4/5 of identified spirals are rotating disks and more than 4/5 of identified peculiar galaxies show complex kinematics, while automatic classification methods such as Concentration-Asymmetry and GINI-M20 severely overestimate the fraction of relaxed disk galaxies. Using this methodology, we find that the fraction of rotating spirals has increased by a factor ~ 2 during the last 6 Gyrs, a much higher fraction that found previously based on morphologies alone. Intermediate mass galaxies (logM(Msun)>10) at z~0.6 are the likeliest progenitors of the present-day numerous population of spirals. There is growing evidence that they have evolved rapidly since the last 6 to 8 Gyr ago, and likely have formed a significant fraction of their stellar mass, often showing perturbed morphologies and kinematics. We have gathered a representative sample of 88 such galaxies and have provided robust estimates of their gas phase metallicity. For doing so, we have used moderate spectral resolution spectroscopy at VLT/FORS2 with unprecedented high S/N allowing to remove biases coming from interstellar absorption lines and extinction to establish robust values of R23=([OII]3727 + [OIII]4959,5007)/Hbeta. We definitively confirm that the predominant population of z~0.6 starbursts and luminous IR galaxies (LIRGs) are on average, two times less metal rich than the local galaxies at a given stellar mass. We do find that the metal abundance of the gaseous phase of galaxies is evolving linearly with time, from z=1 to z=0 and after comparing with other studies, from z=3 to z=0. Combining our results with the reported evolution of the Tully Fisher relation, we do find that such an evolution requires that ~30% of the stellar mass of local galaxies have been formed through an external supply of gas, thus excluding the close box model. Distant starbursts & LIRGs have properties (metal abundance, star formation efficiency & morphologies) similar to those of local LIRGs. Their underlying physics is likely dominated by gas infall probably through merging or interactions. Our study further supports the rapid evolution of z~0.4-1 galaxies. We present a first combined analysis of the morphological and dynamical properties for the Intermediate MAss Galaxy Evolution Sequence (IMAGES) sample. It is a representative sample of 52 z~0.6 galaxies with Mstell from 1.5 to 15 10^10Msun and possessing 3D resolved kinematics and HST deep imaging in at least two broad band filters. We aim at evaluate robustly the evolution of rotating spirals since z~0.6, as well as to test the different schemes for classifying galaxies morphologically. We used all the information provided by multi-band images, color maps and 2 dimensional light fitting to assign to each object a morphological class. We divided our sample between spiral disks, peculiar objects, compact objects and mergers. Using our morphological classification scheme, 4/5 of identified spirals are rotating disks and more than 4/5 of identified peculiar galaxies show complex kinematics, while automatic classification methods such as Concentration-Asymmetry and GINI-M20 severely overestimate the fraction of relaxed disk galaxies. Using this methodology, we find that the fraction of rotating spirals has increased by a factor ~ 2 during the last 6 Gyrs, a much higher fraction that found previously based on morphologies alone. Rotation curves of interacting galaxies often show that velocities are either rising or falling in the direction of the companion galaxy. We seek to reproduce and analyse these features in the rotation curves of simulated equal-mass galaxies suffering a one-to-one encounter, as possible indicators of close encounters. Using simulations of major mergers in 3D, we study the time evolution of these asymmetries in a pair of galaxies, during the first passage. Our main results are: (a) the rotation curve asymmetries appear right at pericentre of the first passage, (b) the significant disturbed rotation velocities occur within a small time interval, of ~ 0.5 Gyr h^-1, and therefore the presence of bifurcation in the velocity curve could be used as an indicator of the pericentre occurrence. Using the multi-integral field spectrograph GIRAFFE at VLT, we have derived the K-band Tully-Fisher relation (TFR) at z~0.6 for a representative sample of 65 galaxies with emission lines. We confirm that the scatter in the z~0.6 TFR is caused by galaxies with anomalous kinematics, and find a positive and strong correlation between the complexity of the kinematics and the scatter that they contribute to the TFR. Considering only relaxed-rotating disks, the scatter, and possibly also the slope of the TFR, do not appear to evolve with z. We detect an evolution of the K-band TFR zero point between z~0.6 and z=0, which, if interpreted as an evolution of the K-band luminosity of rotating disks, would imply that a brightening of 0.66+/-0.14 mag occurs between z~0.6 and z=0. Any disagreement with the results of Flores et al. (2006) are attributed to both an improvement of the local TFR and the more detailed accurate measurement of the rotation velocities in the distant sample. Most of the uncertainty can be explained by the relatively coarse spatial-resolution of the kinematical data. Because most rotating disks at z~0.6 are unlikely to experience further merging events, one may assume that their rotational velocity does not evolve dramatically. If true, our result implies that rotating disks observed at z~0.6 are rapidly transforming their gas into stars, to be able to double their stellar masses and be observed on the TFR at z=0. The rotating disks observed are indeed emission-line galaxies that are either starbursts or LIRGs, which implies that they are forming stars at a high rate. Taking into account all galaxies -with or without emission lines- in that redshift range, we find that at least 41+/-7% of them have anomalous kinematics, i.e., they are not dynamically relaxed. We present a multiwavelength study of the highly evolved compact galaxy group known as Seyfert's Sextet (HCG79: SS). We interpret SS as a 2-3 Gyr more evolved analog of Stephan's Quintet (HCG92: SQ). We postulate that SS formed by sequential acquisition of 4-5 primarily late-type field galaxies. Four of the five galaxies show an early-type morphology which is likely the result of secular evolution driven by gas stripping. Stellar stripping has produced a massive/luminous halo and embedded galaxies that are overluminous for their size. These are interpreted as remnant bulges of the accreted spirals. H79d could be interpreted as the most recent intruder being the only galaxy with an intact ISM and uncertain evidence for tidal perturbation. In addition to stripping activity we find evidence for past accretion events. H79b (NGC6027) shows a strong counter-rotating emission line component interpreted as an accreted dwarf spiral. H79a shows evidence for an infalling component of gas representing feedback or possible cross fueling by H79d. The biggest challenge to this scenario involves the low gas fraction in the group. If SS formed from normal field spirals then much of the gas is missing. Gel emulsions are high-internal-phase-ratio emulsions which form in ternary water/nonionic surfactant/oil systems. Their structure resembles that of foams, they possess a gel appearance and their visual aspect can vary from transparent to translucent or white depending on composition variables and temperature. Because of these peculiar properties, gel emulsions are interesting materials both for scientific studies and applications. In previous investigations it was found that the PIT of the ternary system had a great influence on the formation and stability of these emulsions. Formation of w/o gel emulsions was only possible at temperatures above the PIT and maximum stability was found at temperatures higher than the PIT by 20–25 °C. PIT values of ternary systems containing aromatic hydrocarbons are much lower than those of systems containing aliphatic hydrocarbons. However, gel emulsions did not form using aromatic hydrocarbons and polyethylene glycol alkyl ether derivatives as emulsifiers. This had been attributed to a specific interaction between aromatic hydrocarbons and ethylene oxide with increased oil penetration in the surfactant layer. Nevertheless, gel emulsion formation with aromatic hydrocarbons was achieved using sorbitan derivatives or monoglycerides but failed with ethoxylated sorbitan derivatives. The specific interaction of aromatic hydrocarbons with polyethylene-oxide can be overcomed by using mixtures of aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbons. This interaction has been studied using equilibrium phase behavior, interfacial tension, conductivity and H1 NMR. In this paper we present results concerning the formation and stability of gel emulsions formed with mixtures of aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbons. These results are discussed on the basis of equilibrium and nonequilibrium properties of the system, in particular the structure of the continuous phase.
