Previous ecological studies show higher sponge diversity in the Spermonde Archipelago, SW Sulawesi, Indonesia, compared to the World Porifera Database. This study aims to provide an updated checklist of sponges of the Spermonde Archipelago, focusing particularly on the littoral area. Systematic sampling was executed through several observations, with roving techniques, e.g., snorkeling and SCUBA diving. In situ photographs of living sponges were taken using an underwater digital camera. Some specimens were collected and stored at the Naturalis Biodiversity Center, Leiden. Fragments of samples were analyzed using light and scanning electron microscopy. A total of 27 sponges (Calcarea and Demospongiae) were catalogued from the littoral area of the Spermonde Archipelago. Some of these are new records for the Sulawesi Sea/Makassar Strait marine ecoregion, including four potentially novel taxa. Preliminary morphological descriptions of all examined samples are presented. This study highlights the sponge assemblage flourishing in a shallow area characterized by a paucity of live corals and a predominant environment by macroalgae, rocks, and rubble.

Sponges represent one of the groups with the greatest abundance and diversity among invertebrates. They tolerate a wide range of environmental factors allowing them to surpass the survival of other organisms. Punta Amapala is located between the eastern coastal plain and the Gulf of Fonseca, El Salvador, characterized by the presence of rocky reefs surrounded by sand. Sponge richness, frequency and distribution of rocky reefs at Punta Amapala was recorded following the transect and quadrat methodology. The study resulted in the recording of ten taxa: Aplysina gerardogreeni, Haliclona spp., Axinella nayaritensis, Endectyon (Endectyon) hyle, Mycale (Carmia) cecilia, M. (Zygomycale) ramulosa, Tedania (Tedania) tropicalis, Cliona californiana, C. euryphylle and a sponge of the subclass Calcinea (Calcarea). It is necessary to increase the studies directed to this group in order to know with greater accuracy their richness in the reefs of El Salvador and thus to understand the ecological role they play in ecosystem., Las esponjas representan uno de los grupos de mayor abundancia y diversidad entre los invertebrados, toleran una amplia gama de factores ambientales que les permiten superar la supervivencia de otros organismos. Punta Amapala se localiza entre la planicie costera oriental y el Golfo de Fonseca en El Salvador, caracterizada por la presencia de arrecifes rocosos rodeados de arena. La riqueza, frecuencia y distribución de esponjas en los arrecifes rocosos de Punta Amapala se registró siguiendo la metodología de transectos y cuadrantes. El estudio dio como resultado el registro de diez taxones:Aplysina gerardogreeni, Haliclona spp., Axinella nayaritensis, Endectyon (Endectyon) hyle, Mycale (Carmia) cecilia, M. (Zygomycale) ramulosa, Tedania (Tedania) tropicalis, Cliona californiana, C. euryphylle y una esponja de la subclase Calcinea (Calcarea). Es necesario incrementar los estudios dirigidos a este grupo para conocer con mayor exactitud su riqueza en los arrecifes de El Salvador y así entender el papel ecológico que juegan en el ecosistema.

[EN] This final degree Project deals with a geological and geotechnical study in Figueroles villeage (Castellón). This is an important issue as the current road CV-190, which goes through the villeage, has a huge track traffic from Azulejeras factory. The project will propose three main alternatives roads to attach to the CV-190 in order to turn off heavy vehicles from the village, therefore those kind of transports wouldn’t have to deal narrow streets. Consequently both the citizen from Figueroles and vehicles will benefit from this proposal. This study focuses on the acquisition of knowledge about environment’s lithology as well as the geotechnical and geological features of it. This way we can shed light on the target area and get a better field analysis. All of these data have been gathered though field’s work and the necessary resources to obtain information. For each alternative there has been a study about the possible geological and geotechnical problems that may appear during the project, such as the stability of the area if an excavation is planned or the sinking load above the road when a viaduct is placed on it. It is very important to take into account all of these information in order to build safe roads with no structural problems., [ES] En este trabajo final de grado se ha hecho un estudio Geológico y geotécnico del término municipal de Figueroles (Castellón). Este estudio es necesario porque la actual carretera CV-190, que atraviesa este municipio, tiene un elevado tráfico de vehículos pesados, a causa de las industrias azulejeras de la zona. Se plantean tres posibles alternativas a la actual CV-190 para que no atraviesen el municipio, y se acabe de esta manera con toda la problemática que genera la circulación de un tráfico tan pesado por unas calles tan estrechas. La comodidad es doble, tanto para los ciudadanos de Figueroles, como para los camiones de las industrias que no tendrán que maniobrar para atravesar el pueblo. Este estudio se centra en conocer toda la litología del entorno y sus características, tanto geológicas como geotécnicas, para poder así hacer un análisis exhaustivo del terreno. Toda esta información se ha conseguido mediante trabajos de campo, o ensayos necesarios para la obtención de algunos datos. Para cada alternativa se han estudiado los problemas geológicos y geotécnicos que se pueden presentar, así como la estabilidad del terreno al hacer una excavación, o la carga de hundimiento sobre el mismo al poner un viaducto, entre otras. Todo esto es necesario para poder proyectar unas carreteras que no presenten ningún tipo de problema estructural., [CA] En aquest treball final de grau s’ha fet un estudi geològic y geotecnic del terme municipal de Figueroles (Castelló).
