Despite the large amount information on weed biology and specific weed control measures produced by researchers, organic farmers still prioritise weeds as an important area for further research. A recent project investigating weed management in organic farming systems has established that knowledge and learning are key requirements for this to be effective. Development of relevant, practically useful knowledge depends on access to information generated ‘scientifically’ by researchers and also to knowledge generated as a result of farmer experience with weeds. This requires that farmers, advisors and researchers take a participatory approach to collecting and processing information on weed management, using it to develop new and relevant knowledge. The appropriate framework for knowledge development is thus a collegiate one in which all stakeholders’ value and learn from the observations and experience of others. I rifugiati palestinesi di quarta generazione permangono in una relazione di assistenza che perdura da più di mezzo secolo con l’agenzia internazionale UNRWA, un’istituzione storica ma anomala nel contesto delle Nazioni Unite. L’aiuto umanitario nei confronti di diverse comunità di Palestinesi, in cinque differenti territori (Cisgiordania, Gaza, Giordania, Libano, Siria), è un caso che presenta non solo delle specificità, ma riassume anche alcuni nodi costitutivi dei discorsi e delle pratiche dell’umanitario così come si è venuto a configurare fino ad oggi. I palestinesi costituiscono una comunità storica dell’aiuto umanitario: una popolazione di quasi quattro milioni di rifugiati riconosciuti, un quarto della popolazione totale dei rifugiati nel mondo . Inoltre, i Palestinesi sono una delle comunità di rifugiati più visibili e studiate al mondo, e “bibliografie sui rifugiati si moltiplicano con la stessa velocità in cui le loro condizioni e diritti politici si deteriorano”(Sayigh 2002), un aspetto questo cruciale dell’ambiguità tra visibilità internazionale, alto investimento dell’aiuto e congelamento di soluzioni politiche per decenni.

A summary is given of studies concerning the potentialities of the spectrometric oil analysis method for monitoring aircraft engines and other aircraft mechanisms.
