1. Enhancing Customer Satisfaction Analysis Using Advanced Machine Learning Techniques in Fintech Industry

Abstract: Customer satisfaction (CSAT) is vital in service and marketing, indicating how well products or services meet customer expectations. Traditional CSAT methods like the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) and Net Promoter Score (NPS) face challenges such as survey fatigue and low response rates. This study introduces a novel framework using advanced machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) techniques, specifically Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers (BERT), to classify customer feedback into distinct CSAT drivers. Integrating term frequency-inverse document frequency (TF-IDF) methods with BERT-based embeddings, the framework significantly improves prediction accuracy. Using a proprietary dataset of 5,943 customer feedback responses from 39 companies across 13 industries, the fine-tuned BERT model achieved an F1 score of 0.84, surpassing traditional methods like TF-IDF and support vector machine (SVM) with an F1 score of 0.47, and TF-IDF with multi-layer perceptron (MLP) networks at 0.50. A hybrid approach combining BERT and TF-IDF embeddings with MLP networks yielded an F1 score of 0.71. The results show the transformative potential of DL techniques, particularly fine-tuned BERT models, in enhancing CSAT prediction accuracy. This research bridges the gap between traditional and advanced text mining methods, setting a new standard for CSAT modeling and offering a robust framework for extracting actionable insights from customer feedback. It highlights the importance of adopting advanced ML and DL models for strategic decision-making and improving customer satisfaction measurement.

Abstract: Background: Accurate assessments of current and future fertility-including overall trends and changing population age structures across countries and regions-are essential to help plan for the profound social, economic, environmental, and geopolitical challenges that these changes will bring. Estimates and projections of fertility are necessary to inform policies involving resource and health-care needs, labour supply, education, gender equality, and family planning and support. The Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and Risk Factors Study (GBD) 2021 produced up-to-date and comprehensive demographic assessments of key fertility indicators at global, regional, and national levels from 1950 to 2021 and forecast fertility metrics to 2100 based on a reference scenario and key policy-dependent alternative scenarios. Methods: To estimate fertility indicators from 1950 to 2021, mixed-effects regression models and spatiotemporal Gaussian process regression were used to synthesise data from 8709 country-years of vital and sample registrations, 1455 surveys and censuses, and 150 other sources, and to generate age-specific fertility rates (ASFRs) for 5-year age groups from age 10 years to 54 years. ASFRs were summed across age groups to produce estimates of total fertility rate (TFR). Livebirths were calculated by multiplying ASFR and age-specific female population, then summing across ages 10-54 years. To forecast future fertility up to 2100, our Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) forecasting model was based on projections of completed cohort fertility at age 50 years (CCF50; the average number of children born over time to females from a specified birth cohort), which yields more stable and accurate measures of fertility than directly modelling TFR. 3. Pattern identification of movement related states in biosignals

Abstract: The advancement in biosignal processing and modelling has led to exploring the human brain and developing assistive Human Machine Interface (HMI) as well as Brain Machine Interface (BMI). HMI and BMI require specialised techniques for signal processing and pattern recognition to reliably translate information from complex non-stationary dynamics of biosignals into controlling commands. The information translation process consists of signal pre-processing, feature identification and classification. Even though there is continuous progress in biosignal processing research, the critical requirement for HMI and BMI has raised significant challenges for current state-of-art translation methods, such as high accuracy, reliability, and robustness in noise, provided that only small amount of data is available in practice. Therefore, analysing biosignals with novel feature enhancement, feature selection and classification methods are important for decoding of movement intention towards development of reliable assistive HMI as well as BMI. It is particularly valuable for neural signal analysis to understand the neural circuit mechanisms. This research project aims to design decoding algorithm with improved classification performance in robustness and accuracy to recognise movement related states from tongue movement ear pressure (TMEP) signals and deep brain local field potentials (LFPs) by integrating features extracted through multiple domains, and applying pattern classification methods. To achieve the above aim, this project addresses a number of research issues by utilising conventional and efficient signal information extraction, selection and pattern classification techniques. The first part of this research project successfully developed a robust decoding technique for identifying tongue movement commands from TMEP signals in adverse environment for designing an assistive HMI. This decoding strategy utilised wavelet method for optimal feature enhancement and achieved high accuracy in real time with pattern classification methods of Bayesian and support vector machine (SVM). In the second part, the movement commands are decoded from deep brain local field potentials (LFPs) from basal ganglia (Subthalamic Nucleus (STN) or Globus Pallidus interna (GPi)). An efficient translation algorithm is developed to decode deep brain LFPs for identification of movement activities. Neural synchronisation measures including event related desynchronisation and synchronisation, and functional coupling are utilised to extract discriminatory information as features. We further developed a new feature selection strategy named as weighted sequential feature selection (WSFS) to select an optimal feature subset, which is proved robust for high dimensional, small size dataset. Together with WSFS and pattern classification methods (Bayesian or SVM) high decoding performance for identifying movements was achieved. Abstract: Urban rivers in Asian developing countries are becoming increasingly polluted due to industrialization and lacking treatment of wastewater. We investigated toxicity and likely sources of pollutants for the urban Shitalakshaya River, Bangladesh. Physiochemical variables and heavy metals were examined in water and sediment of an urban river section in Narayanganj City. The spatial distribution of quality indices and cluster groups indicates that the river’s downstream urban-affected areas are the most contaminated. Water and sediment quality guidelines indicate that COD, TSS, Fe, Pb, Zn in water, and Pb, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, and particularly Pb and Cu in sediment, pose a serious threat to the aquatic ecosystem and human health in the area. Correlation, principal component (PCA), and cluster analysis (CA) indicate that the sources of Mn and Cd are geogenic, COD, TSS, Pb, Zn, Cu anthropogenic, and Fe, Ni, Co both geogenic and anthropogenic. Abstract: Elevated blood pressure remains the single biggest risk factor contributing to the global burden of disease and mortality. May Measurement Month is an annual global screening campaign aiming to improve awareness of blood pressure at the individual and population level. Adults (≥18 years) recruited through opportunistic sampling were screened at sites in 92 countries during May 2019. Ideally, 3 blood pressure readings were measured for each participant, and data on lifestyle factors and comorbidities were collected. Hypertension was defined as a systolic blood pressure ≥140 mm Hg, or a diastolic blood pressure ≥90 mm Hg (mean of the second and third readings) or taking antihypertensive medication. When necessary, multiple imputation was used to estimate participants' mean blood pressure. Mixed-effects models were used to evaluate associations between blood pressure and participant characteristics. Of 1 508 130 screenees 482 273 (32.0%) had never had a blood pressure measurement before and 513 337 (34.0%) had hypertension, of whom 58.7% were aware, and 54.7% were on antihypertensive medication. Of those on medication, 57.8% were controlled to <140/90 mm Hg, and 28.9% to <130/80 mm Hg. Of all those with hypertension, 31.7% were controlled to <140/90 mm Hg, and 350 825 (23.3%) participants had untreated or inadequately treated hypertension. Of those taking antihypertensive medication, half were taking only a single drug, and 25% reported using aspirin inappropriately. This survey is the largest ever synchronized and standardized contemporary compilation of global blood pressure data. This campaign is needed as a temporary substitute for systematic blood pressure screening in many countries worldwide.

Abstract: The Pasur River is a vital reservoir of surface water in the Sundarbon area in Bangladesh. Mongla seaport is located on the bank of this river. Many industries and other commercial sectors situated in this port area are discharging waste into the river without proper treatment. For this reason, geospatial analysis and mapping of water pollutant distribution were performed to assess the physicochemical and toxicological situation in the study area. We used different water quality indices such as Metal Index (MI), Comprehensive Pollution Index (CPI), and Weighted Arithmetic Water Quality Index Method (WQI) to improve the understanding of pollution distribution and processes determining the quality of river water. Multivariate statistical methods were used to evaluate loads and sources of pollutants in the Pasur River system. The results indicate that the sources of contaminants are both geogenic and anthropogenic, including untreated or poorly treated wastewater from industries and urban domestic waste discharge. The concentration range of total suspended solid (TSS), chloride, iron (Fe), and manganese (Mn) were from 363.2 to 1482.7, 108.2 to 708.93, 1.13 to 2.75, and 0.19 to 1.41 mg/L, respectively, significantly exceeding the health-based guideline of WHO and Bangladeshi standards. The high Fe and Mn contents are contributions from geogenic and anthropogenic sources such as industrial waste and construction activities. The average pH value was 8.73, higher than the WHO and Bangladeshi standard limit. WQI (ranging from 391 to 1336), CPI (6.71 to 23.1), and MI (7.23 to 23.3) were very high and greatly exceeded standard limits indicating that the Pasur River water is highly polluted. Abstract: The emerging class of instance-optimized systems has shown potential to achieve high performance by specializing to a specific data and query workloads. Particularly, Machine Learning (ML) techniques have been applied successfully to build various instance-optimized components (e.g., learned indexes). This paper investigates to leverage ML techniques to enhance the performance of spatial indexes, particularly the R-tree, for a given data and query workloads. As the areas covered by the R-tree index nodes overlap in space, upon searching for a specific point in space, multiple paths from root to leaf may potentially be explored. In the worst case, the entire R-tree could be searched. In this paper, we define and use the overlap ratio to quantify the degree of extraneous leaf node accesses required by a range query. The goal is to enhance the query performance of a traditional R-tree for high-overlap range queries as they tend to incur long running-times. We introduce a new AI-tree that transforms the search operation of an R-tree into a multi-label classification task to exclude the extraneous leaf node accesses. Then, we augment a traditional R-tree to the AI-tree to form a hybrid "AI+R"-tree. The "AI+R"-tree can automatically differentiate between the high- and low-overlap queries using a learned model. Thus, the "AI+R"-tree processes high-overlap queries using the AI-tree, and the low-overlap queries using the R-tree. Abstract: Pond water is used in everyday life by many people in Bangladesh, however, without sufficient and reliable information regarding water quality and pollution status. For this reason, geospatial analysis and mapping of water quality indices such as metal (MI), contamination (Cd), and physicochemical water quality index (WQI) were assessed to improve the understanding of potential pollution sources. Samples were collected from twenty randomly selected ponds situated in Jashore Sadar Upazila, Bangladesh. Nineteen (19) water quality parameters were measured, including pH, temperature, EC, TDS, total suspended solids (TSS), chloride, alkalinity, total hardness, salinity, Fe, Mn, Pb, Cr, Cd, Co, Zn, Ag, Ni, and Cu. The average concentration of Fe, Mn, Pb, Cd, and Ag was much higher than recommended standards. The WQI ranged from 1.59-5.27, Cd from -0.19-18.28, and MI from 7.81-26.28. The spatial distribution of MI indicates that the south-western and south-eastern region of the study area are stands out with a very high pollution pressure. The spatial distribution of Cd, follows the same trend as for MI. A multitude of different types of pollution sources contributes to the high pollution load such as, municipal wastewater, leachate from landfills, small industry wastewater and stormwater, and agricultural runoff. Abstract: Globalna opasnost od poplave postupno se povećava. Iako ih je nemoguće izbjeći, gubici i šteta od opasnosti (npr. poplave, cikloni i potresi) mogu se učinkovito smanjiti smanjenjem ranjivosti kućanstava odgovarajućim mjerama. Cilj ove studije je kvantitativno mjerenje ranjivosti kućanstava obzirom na opasnosti od poplave kao alata za njihovo ublažavanje. Također je predložen jedinstveni pristup za kvantificiranje ugroženosti kućanstava obzirom na opasnosti od poplave, a kao primjer predstavljena je primjena u gradu Dhaki sklonom poplavama. Podaci su prikupljeni i sa siromašnih i bogatih područja kako bi bilo pokriveno cijelo urbano područje te kako bi se usporedila razina ugroženosti od poplava. Ukupno 300 kućanstava anketirano je strukturiranim upitnikom na temelju pet čimbenika (ekonomskih, socijalnih, okolišnih, strukturnih i institucionalnih) ugroženosti od poplava. Analitički hijerarhijski postupak (AHP) primijenjen je za mjerenje pojedinačnih rezultata ranjivosti kućanstva korištenjem relativne težine varijabli i pokazatelja uz pravilnu standardizaciju. Analitički rezultati pokazali su da je 63,06% siromašnih kućanstava i 20,02% bogatih kućanstava vrlo osjetljivo na poplave. Uz to, ovaj je rad utvrdio i procijenio čimbenike odgovorne za ranjivost kućanstava u Dhaki. Što se tiče strukturne ranjivosti, rezultati su pokazali da je 82% kućanstava u siromašnim krajevima bilo visoko ranjivo, a 95,3% kućanstava koja nisu iz siromašnih četvrti bilo je umjereno ranjivo. Društveno, 67,3% siromašnih i 78,7% kućanstava koja nisu iz siromašnih naselja bila su umjereno i slabo ranjiva. Većina kućanstava u siromašnoj i nesiromašnoj četvrti (84%, odnosno 59,3%) pokazala je visoku i umjerenu ekonomsku ranjivost. Štoviše, za 69,3% siromašnih i 65,3% nesiromašnih kućanstava institucionalna ranjivost je bila visoka. Od stanovnika siromašnih naselja, 63,3% je bilo izloženo ekološkom riziku, a 78% staništa koja nisu u siromašnim područjima bilo je u kategoriji niske ranjivosti. Though it is impossible to avoid them, losses and damage of hazards (e.g., floods, cyclones, and earthquakes) could be efficiently reduced by reducing household vulnerability with appropriate measures. This study aims to quantitatively measure the household vulnerability of flood hazards as a mitigation tool. It also proposed a unique approach to quantify flood-hazard household vulnerability, and shows its application in the flood prone city of Dhaka as an example case. Data were collected from both slum and non-slum areas to cover the entire urban habitat, and to compare their level of flood vulnerability. A total of 300 households were surveyed by structured questionnaire on the basis of five factors (economic, social, environmental, structural, and institutional) of flood vulnerability. The analytical hierarchy process (AHP) was applied to measure individual household vulnerability scores by using the relative weightage of variables and indicators with proper standardisation. Analytical results demonstrated that 63.06% slum and 20.02% non-slum households were highly vulnerable to floods. In addition, this paper determined and assessed responsible factors for household flood vulnerability in Dhaka. For structural vulnerability, results exhibited that 82% of slum households were highly vulnerable, and 95.3% of non-slum households were moderately vulnerable. Socially, 67.3% of slum and 78.7% of non-slum households were moderately and low-vulnerable. The majority of slum and non-slum households (84% and 59.3%, respectively) showed high and moderate vulnerability with respect to economic vulnerability. Moreover, 69.3% of slum and 65.3% of nonslum household institutional vulnerability levels were high. Abstract: We develop and study two approaches for the prediction of optical refraction effects in the lower atmosphere. Refraction can cause apparent displacement or distortion of targets when viewed by imaging systems or produce steering when propagating laser beams. Low-cost, time-lapse camera systems were deployed at two locations in New Mexico to measure image displacements of mountain ridge targets due to atmospheric refraction as a function of time. Measurements for selected days were compared with image displacement predictions provided by (1) a ray-tracing evaluation of numerical weather prediction data and (2) a machine learning algorithm with measured meteorological values as inputs. The model approaches are described and the target displacement prediction results for both were found to be consistent with the field imagery in overall amplitude and phase. 13. Sorption mechanism of chromate by ferrihydrite and sulfate green rust: comparison by XAFS analysis

Abstract: Hexavalent chromium is toxic, carcinogenic and difficult to remove from wastewater due to its high mobility. In this work, we elucidated the sorption mechanism of chromate by ferrihydrite and two types of sulfate green rust; one prepared at pH 8.75 （GR8.75） and another one prepared at pH 7.50 （GR7.50）. We used XAFS analysis to investigate their behaviour by changing the Cr/Fe molar ratio and pH. The GR8.75 was found to be 1.7 times more efficient than GR7.50 and 6.7 times more efficient than ferrihydrite towards the chromate removal. XAFS indicated that ferrihydrite removed Cr（VI） via outer-sphere surface complexation at lower Cr/Fe ratios and via inner-sphere surface complexation at higher molar ratios. At higher molar ratios, bidentate binuclear Cr-Fe bonds were dominant and resulted in the expansion of the ferrihydrite structure. For lower molar ratio, both the GRs resulted into the formation of bidentate mononuclear Cr-Fe bonding like FeCr2O4 even at variable pH. The increase of Fe-Fe edge sharing and double corner sharing coordination numbers confirmed the surface-based redox reaction for GR8.75. On the contrary, the significant single corner sharing Fe-Fe coordination via oxygen might be the indication of the lateral insertion of Cr into GR7.50.

Abstract: Aim: The aim of this study was to investigate how national culture influence internal communication of university. Methodology: A qualitative approach was chosen to conduct this research. Semi structured interview were taken. Interviews were taken by face to face, skype and phone call. Ethical approach was considered while interpreting the data. Findings: Our study showed that high power distance has negative impact on internal communication. We found that high power distance creates block between supervisors and subordinates to share information. Thus it creates barriers for effective communication flow and hinders organizations development. Our study also found that power distance is available in both countries but the degree of power distance is varied from one to another. In our study we also found that Individualism and collectivism has effect on internal communication. Our study showed that Individualistic or collectivistic decision making process of university effect internal communication of university in both countries. Previous study suggests that high power distance country tends to be a collectivistic country. Though the result is not always true. However, we found that true in our study. Contribution: The study adopts employee centric approach to explore the effects of culture on internal communication. This is an important contribution to previous researches that focused on internal communication from different perspectives, inclusion of cultural differences on internal communication has added value to the research field. Moreover, this paper contributes insights in cultural differences as well as employee perspective and by doing so it suggests theorist and practitioners that how internal communication can relate to employee’s engagement in different cultural perspectives. Abstract: The presence of comorbid physical illnesses especially, cardiovascular diseases (CVD) in schizophrenia is a growing area of concern in recent years. In order to reduce disease burden, to improve quality of life and to provide holistic care, it is important to know about the relationship between schizophrenia and CVD. The objective of this review is to explore the extent of CVD problems, relevant risk factors and potential measures for early diagnosis and prevention of CVD among patients with schizophrenia. Worldwide studies show that patients with schizophrenia have a higher mortality and lower life expectancy than the general population. CVD is the leading cause of increased mortality in schizophrenia. Common CVD risk factors in schizophrenia include metabolic syndrome, sedentary behaviour, tobacco smoking, effects of antipsychotics, long chain omega-3 fatty acid deficiency and shared genetics between CVD and schizophrenia. The potential methods for early detection and prevention of CVD in schizophrenia are also discussed. Though the patients with schizophrenia form a high risk group for CVD, consensus guidelines for early detection and prevention of CVD in schizophrenia are lacking. Comorbidity of CVD in schizophrenia needs more serious attention by clinicians and researchers.

Abstract: The advancement in biosignal processing and modelling has led to exploring the human brain and developing assistive Human Machine Interface (HMI) as well as Brain Machine Interface (BMI). HMI and BMI require specialised techniques for signal processing and pattern recognition to reliably translate information from complex non-stationary dynamics of biosignals into controlling commands. The information translation process consists of signal pre-processing, feature identification and classification. Therefore, analysing biosignals with novel feature enhancement, feature selection and classification methods are important for decoding of movement intention towards development of reliable assistive HMI as well as BMI. It is particularly valuable for neural signal analysis to understand the neural circuit mechanisms. This research project aims to design decoding algorithm with improved classification performance in robustness and accuracy to recognise movement related states from tongue movement ear pressure (TMEP) signals and deep brain local field potentials (LFPs) by integrating features extracted through multiple domains, and applying pattern classification methods. To achieve the above aim, this project addresses a number of research issues by utilising conventional and efficient signal information extraction, selection and pattern classification techniques. 28. Climate change adaptation strategy for the Folk Communities:an approach to vegetable production in flood prone areas

Abstract: In Bangladesh, impacts on agriculture from extreme climate are increasingly vulnerable. On the other hand, folk communities are intensely depending on agriculture for their livelihoods. Climate change has already negatively affected the vegetable production by annual recurrent flood in Bangladesh. This study is an assessment of the new vegetable production system that could adopt in a changing climatic condition. With the popular eight vegetable species, the field experiment consisted of four treatments which were conducted in the bags. However, treatment (TD) which consisted of Coriander (Coriander sativum), Pumpkin (Cucurbita maxima), Bitter melon (Momordica charantea), Tomato (Lycopersicon esculeatum), Cowpea (Vigna sinensis) is more beneficial than our other treatments. The average benefit ratio of this treatment is 9.75 followed by 6.52 (TA), 5.45 (TB) and 5.17 (TC). Moreover, the findings of this study might be helpful for the flood affected folk communities produce vegetables for their own consumption and income. 29. Cultivated plants in the diversified homegardens of local communities in Ganges Valley, Bangladesh

Abstract: Homestead agroforestry, in the form of homegardens, has a long tradition in many developing countries. These systems are an intimate mix of diversified agricultural crops and multipurpose trees planted, maintained by members of the household. This paper aims to explore the species composition commonly found in the homestead agroforestry systems in the Ganges valley of northern Bangladesh and their contribution to local livelihoods. Three villages i.e., ‘Capasia’, ‘Chak Capasia’ and ‘Baduria’ were selected as the primary study area. Data were collected by (1) rapid rural appraisal, (2) direct observation, (3) informal and structured interviews with a purposive sample of 90 households. A total of 53 plant species under 32 families were identified from the study area and it was found that the relative density were highest for Areca catechu (areca palm), Artocarpus heterophyllus (jackfruit) and Mangifera indica (mango). Financial analysis showed that homestead agroforestry net benefit increases with the increasing landholding classes. However, no significant difference was found between the number of species in different farm sizes, contrasting other studies that accused this relationship. The comparison of Shannon-Wiener index between agroforestry systems and natural forest showed no statistical difference, reinforcing the role of homegardens in biological conservation in Bangladesh. 30. A more appropriate Protein Classification using Data Mining

Abstract: Research in bioinformatics is a complex phenomenon as it overlaps two knowledge domains, namely, biological and computer sciences. This paper has tried to introduce an efficient data mining approach for classifying proteins into some useful groups by representing them in hierarchy tree structure. There are several techniques used to classify proteins but most of them had few drawbacks on their grouping. Among them the most efficient grouping technique is used by PSIMAP. Even though PSIMAP (Protein Structural Interactome Map) technique was successful to incorporate most of the protein but it fails to classify the scale free property proteins. Our technique overcomes this drawback and successfully maps all the protein in different groups, including the scale free property proteins failed to group by PSIMAP. Our approach selects the six major attributes of protein: a) Structure comparison b) Sequence Comparison c) Connectivity d) Cluster Index e) Interactivity f) Taxonomic to group the protein from the databank by generating a hierarchal tree structure.
