The tower at right is taller, has a roof over the open platform and a flag is flying from a pole on the roof. The shorter tower is a raised wooden platform at left and there are several people standing on it. A large crowd has gathered on both sides of the race track, including many people seated in the bleachers at left. There are tall mountains in the background at right.

Behind the crowd there is a large building partially obscured by a big tree. In the background is a line of snow-covered mountains.

Photograph of a chariot racing at Santa Anita Racetrack, ca.1950. Jockeys are sitting on individual chariots while a horse is straped to the vehicle carrying it towards the direction of the viewer. Each jockey is holding a whip on one hand and the horse's guiding straps on the other. They are all standing on a dirt track. Behind them, a white fence with tall lamps extend along the track. On the other side of the fence, houses and trees are noticeable. Mountain silhouettes are observable in the far background.
