This paper deals with the research findings of an anthropological study about quail hunting and quail fighting in Taunsa Sharif. The major objective of this research was to find the traditional tools and techniques being used for different types of quail hunting by the natives. There is a strong relationship between two of the activities. Through the quail hunting a flock of birds is captured and out of this the finest quails are selected for the fight on the basis of certain culturally defined criteria. There are seven traditional types of quail hunt that are being practiced. All types of hunts vary from each other because of different reasons, i.e., season of the hunt, usage of tools and techniques. The division of labor and party formation has a vital role in both quail hunt and fight. This paper is an attempt to explain the process, practices, tool and techniques of quail hunting. Besides this indigenous perspective about the start of quail fight and hunt are discussed. The data presented in this research paper were collected in Union Council Urban Tehsil Taunsa Sharif by utilizing anthropological research tools and techniques from August 2008 to January 2009.  &nbsp

Creative arts are immensely influenced by dubbed localization. Films and dramas are dubbed and localized in target cultures and languages to amplify the global market. This is proliferating a hybrid popular culture. Localization can be adapted as a tool to educate people and to broaden their approach towards life. This paper is exploring positive impact of localized foreign dramas in conservative and hidebound societies. This study presents a basic survey of culturally and linguistically sensitive localization of foreign dramas and its clout on Pakistani society. Three dramas from different cultures and ethnicities have been selected to analyze the power of localized visual arts to influence the thought of masses. The Korean drama “Dae Jang Geum, A Jewel in the Palace”, The Iranian drama “Roz e Hasrat” and the Turkish drama “Fatima Gul Mera kasur kia ha” are part of this study. This paper focuses on two basic questions. How localization influence a target culture in this global \capitalist world? How can we apply this power of localization to reduce bigotry in Pakistani society?

English language is considered the core of success in Pakistani education system. The most important task of English teachers at college level in Pakistan is to develop competence and better understanding of English language in students. However, curriculum overload is the biggest hurdle in enhancing language proficiency because it keeps teachers and students under pressure. J.B McDonald elucidates curriculum as a fount of quality teaching and better learning experience for students by identifying an apt syllabus and assessing their learning outcomes. This paper looks into the causes and consequences of curriculum overload on English teachers at college level in particular and on students in general. This study helps in understanding the issue through teachers and students’ point of view. Data were collected through questionnaires based on close and open-ended questions. These questionnaires were filled by the English teachers and students of public and private colleges of Faisalabad city. Macdonald's Model has been adapted to understand the role of curriculum in education. He takes curriculum as a social and cognitive system for proper planning and instruction in academia. This study recommends certain measures to overcome the overload of curriculum on teachers and students. It will open new vistas of research as less work has been done in this regard particularly at college level.  &nbsp

Although ADR has proven to be an efficacious mechanism as it has provided a congenial atmosphere, a less formal and less complicated forum for copious disputes, due to lack of awareness of its quiddity at the ground root level has abrupted its quantum leap. This paper aims to provide the gist of ADR concerning India by focusing on its purpose, advantages and disadvantages, (fruitful) modes of conflict resolution, highlighting the importance of Lok Adalat, significance and effectiveness of ADR in conflict resolution and ways to overcome the persisting deficiencies.

Sons and Lovers has always been posing problems for the teachers, during classroom critical discussions on the novel on account of its undue association with Freud’s concept of Oedipus complex and his focus on sexual instincts. Readers are forcibly led to the conclusion that there is convincing evidence of unconscious sexual attraction between Gertrude (the mother) and William and Paul (her sons) throughout the novel. The novel basically focuses on the individual’s mental and behavioral struggle to locate his own place in the social setup in pursuit of his dignity. An open-minded close examination of the novel makes one realize that it hardly deserves to be labeled as an illustration of Freud’s theory of Oedipus complex. Paul’s struggle for recognition and acceptance in the society is the central theme of the novel which puts him in trying conditions and relations and leaves him struggling to adjust his place in quest of self-esteem and recognition. The more he tries to get satisfaction, the more he becomes disillusioned. Consequently, dissatisfaction leads him to interact with different people and he experiences mal-adjustment. The object of this paper is to analyze Paul’s relations with other main characters in the novel in order to diagnose the cause of his discontentment in his relations with them. An attempt has been made to view his predicament in the light of psychological and social cross-currents that pervade his behavior through-out the novel Paul finds intellectual harmony with Miriam as her feelings match with those of his. Like Paul, she also wants to achieve something great. A cleavage occurs in their relationship when Miriam shows her reluctance to fulfill his carnal desires, as being unethical and contrary to her spiritual ideals.
