Abstract

We study the influence of the source configuration and the fiber length on the light coherence in highly multimode step-index polymer optical fibers. We perform several computer simulations and analyze the spatial coherence properties of the output surface of the fiber. By calculating the complex coherence factor of the output surface of the fiber, we determine the combinations of source configurations and fiber lengths that lead to a completely incoherent light at the exit of the fiber.
