Abstract

The article presents the highlights of the Fifth International Symposium on Persimmon (FISP) held on October 20-26, 2012 in Wuhan City and in Gongcheng Yao Autonomous County in China. The theme is "History, Genetic Diversity and Industry," and includes topics on origin, evolution and cultivation history, standard cultivation for safe and high quality production, and fruit de-astringency, storage, and logistics. The industry status, the limits, and the trends in the industry were also discussed.
