A toll bridge was constructed in an old landslide zone in the Cikareteg area in Bogor, West Java. Knowledge of the slip surface is necessary to mitigate the hazard associated with the possible reactivation of the landslide. This paper presents the results of the resistivity tomography survey conducted in the vicinity of the toll bridge using dipole-dipole configuration to estimate the depth and geometry of the slip surface of the old landslide. Results of the resistivity tomography indicate that the non-circular sliding zones are located within a thick soil layer of low resistivity values at a depth of less than 10 m below the slope surface. The resistivity images also suggest that the groundwater table exists at shallow depth in the landslide masses. Thus, the thick landslide materials and shallow groundwater table in the vicinity of the bridge pose an imminent landslide hazard to the toll road. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The earthquake that occurred on September 28, 2018 with a magnitude of 7.4 Mw at Central Sulawesi, caused damage to the extraordinary areas of Donggala, Palu, Sigi, and surrounding areas. The shock caused by the earthquake-triggered landslide in Poi Village, South Dolo District, Sigi Regency, with large dimensions on the hillsides and resulted in the formation of piles of material and closed the water flow to the west of the Poi Village settlement (Geological Agency 2018). Investigations through surface geological studies and photogrammetry were carried out to identify surface geological conditions and potential landslide susceptibility in the study area. Based on the results of the geological review and analysis, it is known that the geology of the research area is composed of 3 rock units, namely the granite intrusion unit, the conglomerate unit, and the alluvial deposit unit. The photogrammetry results show that the structural activity acting on the study area is proven by the presence of two shear faults with opposite displacement directions. The landslide control factor in the study area lies in the structural conditions, slope, and geohydrological conditions as well as the level of weathering that occurs in rocks in the study area. This research aims to find out the effectiveness of the VAK (Visualization, Auditory, and Kinesthetic) learning model on: (1) student's learning motivation, and (2) student's cognitive learning outcomes. This research is a quantitative research using a quasi-experimental design. Data analysis, both motivational data and learning outcomes data, uses statistical test of the Mann-Whitney U Test. The results show that: (1) The VAK (Visualization, Auditory, and Kinesthetic) learning model influences student's learning motivation. It is indicated by the results of the Mann-Whitney U Test with a significance of 0,00; (2) The VAK (Visualization, Auditory, and Kinesthetic) learning model influences student's cognitive learning outcomes. This study aims to find out and analyze the influence of active learning and cooperative learning models on learning outcomes through student learning motivation at Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) State Vocational High School (SMKN) 1 Bulukumba. This research is designed in the form of quantitative research with census methods. The population of this study is 3rd-grade students of UPT SMKN 1 Bulukumba, as many as 218 students. Sample determination is carried out by saturated sampling techniques so that the final sample is 250 students. The data analysis technique used is path analysis. Based on the study results with seven hypotheses submitted, they all proved to mean that the whole hypothesis is acceptable. The results showed that indirect influence and learning motivation contributed to improving student learning outcomes. However, learning motivation is an intervening variable in this study. Still, its contribution is very influential for UPT SMKN 1 Bulukumba students compared to active learning and cooperative learning models, while the effect is indirect. The main objective in this research is to learn how to solve students' problems and characters based on the Subject-Based Pedagogic (SSP) Statistics based on the character-loaded Heuristic Strategy developed. This discussion is a synergy of previous research as a new discussion which is the conception of development in achieving optimal problem solving and character. The method used is the final research and development with an experimental form. The instrument used was a test of problem solving abilities, questionnaires, character assessment, and assessment sheets, the results of the study were analyzed descriptive and inferential with logical and analytic reasoning. Based on the results obtained that the heuristic strategy through the collection of identification, planning, doing and checking is an alternative mathematical learning solution that is very powerful and potential in integrating characters as a learning scheme to be able to improve problem solving skills and develop students' character in containing the SSP. Significant differences occur in the problem solving process and the character of prospective students in Indonesia for those who use the SSP and those who do not. The PV cell connected in series experience several addressable problems which reduce the efficiency of power output in the solar system. Some of the serious issues are mismatching, shading issues, generation of 'hot spot', dust, and obstacles over the panel, solar charge controller design. This problem of overall decreased output power could be improved by introducing the converter design technique of differential power processing. DPP architecture achieves high system efficiency by processing the fraction of total power. This report is mainly focused on the home rooftop solar panel requirements, irradiance obstacles on the solar panel, factors affecting the efficiency of the solar panel system, and converter design for wearable PV application. PV cells can be used for wearable PV applications where fluctuation in illumination is observed. With the help of DPP technique, the MPPT for each cell is traced and the cell operates around that point. In the present work, we probe into the phase transition of amorphous Bi10As40Se50 to a crystalline one upon thermal annealing. The Bi10As40Se50 thin films were prepared through thermal evaporation method and were annealed at 130° for 5h. The as-prepared and annealed films were characterized by XRD, FESEM and Raman spectroscopy. X-ray diffraction study revealed the amorphous nature of the as-prepared film and Bi3Se4 crystallite phase formation in the annealed film. This clearly indicates annealing induced diffusion of Bi into As2Se3 and hence the formation of Bi3Se4 phase. FESEM images show the smooth and homogeneous surface for the Bi10As40Se50 film whereas the annealed film shows these crystallites covers the surface. The Raman spectra shows a broad band corresponds to AsSe3 unit and a raman peak of bismuth selenide in the asprepared film whichshows shifting in case of annealed film. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

We theoretically investigate effects of atomic disorder existing near the Si/SiO2 interfaces on the impact ionization rate of a Si nanodot (SiND).
