A highly expedient protocol for a catalytic Appel-type dehydration of oximes to nitriles has been developed, which employs oxalyl chloride, triethylamine and triphenylphosphine oxide as a catalyst. This is a preliminary study of alkoxy substituted Heck-schiff base compound as recognition layer in electrochemical DNA sensor for liver cancer. 4-(4-nitrostyryl)aniline was synthesized by bis (triphenylphosphine) palladium (II) dichloride as catalyst and has been characterized by using Fourier transform-infrared spectrometer (FTIR), UV-Vis spectrophotometer and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectra. The result obtained from FTIR show that there are formation of N=O (NO2 ) asymmetric stretching vibrations 1340 cm-1. In UV-vis, absorbance of NO2 can be observed at peak 410 nm. While in the 1H NMR and 13C NMR the peak of C-C coupling was found in the range of δH 6.84-7.09 ppm and δC 125.23 ppm. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Solvent resistant nanofiltration (SRNF) using polymer membranes has recently received enhanced attention due to the search for cleaner and more energy-efficient technologies. The large size of the rhodium tris(triphenylphosphine) [HRh(CO)(PPh3)3] catalyst (>400 Da) - relative to other components of the hydroformylation reaction provides the opportunity for a membrane separation based on retention of the catalyst species while permeating the solvent. The compatibility of the solvent-polyimide membrane (DuraMem{trade mark, serif} 200 and DuraMem{trade mark, serif} 500) combinations was assessed in terms of the membrane stability in solvent plus non-zero solvent flux at 2.0 MPa. Good HRh(CO)(PPh3)3 rejection (>0.95) and solvent fluxes of 9.9 L/m2·h1 at 2.0 MPa were obtained in the catalyst-ethyl acetate-DuraMem 500 system. The effect of pressure and catalyst concentration on the solvent flux and catalyst rejection was conducted on the catalyst-ethyl acetate-membrane systems. Increasing pressure substantially improved both solvent flux and catalyst rejection, while increasing catalyst concentration was found to be beneficial in terms of substantial increases in catalyst rejection without significantly affecting solvent flux. The optically good quality organic single crystals of triphenylphosphine oxide 4-nitrophenol (TP4N) were successfully grown by slow evaporation solution technique (SEST) using methanol as solvent. The lattice parameters of the grown crystal were confirmed by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The optical transmittance, cut-off wavelength and band gap of the TP4N crystal were obtained by UV-Vis NIR spectrum analysis. The photoluminescence studies were carried out to find out the luminesce properties of TP4N single crystal. The photoconductivity studies reveal that the TP4N crystal has negative photoconductive nature.
