The article discusses research which examined the motion and structural characteristics of an array of Hywind-OC3 interlinked spars with elastic connectors. Topics discussed include a description of the experimental setup, static pull-out and surge free decay test, regular and irregular wave test and the motion and structural responses of the floater affected by the natural period of the device.

Abstract

The article presents an investigation of wave-induced motion characteristics of multiple Spar-type floaters with elastic connectors and catenary mooring lines in time domain. Green function with High-Order Boundary Element Method (HOBEM) was used to achieve hydrodynamic coefficients. It offers numerical calculations for the horizontal array of five offshore wind turbines in irregular wave conditions.
