Against such a backdrop, it offers relevant cause to study the scholarly discussion and debate on sustainable issues in paper and pulp industry playing around the academic universe and also to poke into and discuss some of the issues of sustainability in the industry emerging out of the articles. Accordingly, through this article, the present state of affairs in the academic fraternity on the above topic has been laid out through a bibliometric analysis, while some of the common challenges of environmental sustainability associated with the paper making process have been identified from the literature and discussed thereof. For industrial use, iron-ore concentrates shall correspond to definite requirements regarding both basic substance content - iron as well as phosphorus content. Decreased phosphorus content in iron-ore concentrate can be received by the method of hydrometallurgy (desalinization of phosphorus by mineral acid). On the experimental base of OJSC VNIIMT, a laboratory research was carried out regarding iron ore dephosphorization; as a result maximum possible content of phosphorus was obtained in a final product. The optimal technological parameters of sulphuric acid desalinization were defined that have an effect on quality of phosphorus removal of iron ore magnetite concentrate: size degradation of roasted concentrate; phosphorus removal duration; pulp heating temperature effect; sulphuric acid-specific consumption. It is necessary to determine the amount of starch in order to find effective methods of controlling it in technological flows of paper mills. Enzymatic methods for starch determination based on the selective action of amylolytic enzymes on starch are promising. Water-soluble low molecular weight dextrins are formed when starch is treated with alpha-amylase. Dextrins are then hydrolyzed by glucoamylase to glucose, which is determined by various methods. Material pretreatment is necessary to increase starch availability for the action of enzymes. Two enzymatic methods were used in the research. The standard SCAN-P 91:09 SCAN-W 13:09 test-method and NArFU-test method (method is developed at the department of biology, ecology and biotechnology, Northern Arctic Federal University, Arkhangelsk, Russia). High-temperature short-term alkaline treatment of the material is necessary according to the SCAN-test method. Two hours alkaline treatment at room temperature is necessary according to the NArFU-test method for pulp, paper and cardboard. Boiling treatment at the initial pH of medium is necessary according to the NArFU-test method for white water. White water samples of the Sukhona pulp and paper mill (Sokol, Russia) were used. White water samples were also obtained in laboratory conditions. It was determined 9- 24 % less starch in the laboratory white water according to the SCAN-test method in comparison with the NArFU-test method and 70% less starch in the industrial whitewater. This is due to the destruction of partially destroyed starch in water under the high-temperature alkaline treatment using the SCAN-test method. The high content of starch remaining after previous production cycles was determined in the pulp fractions of waste paper used for cardboard production. It was determined 9 % less starch in the short-fibered pulp according to the SCAN-test method in comparison with the NArFU-test method, and 14% less starch in the long-fiber fraction. The pretreatment conditions according to the SCAN-test method lead to the determination of a lower starch content. In the course of the analysis Kovdor tailing dump, which is one of the largest technogenic alluvial tracts in Russia. Studies have shown that the tailings pond has several areas with different intensities dusting. The use of the known methods to isolate the surface in the current environment is not effective. This is due to the fact that the tailing dump are constantly filled and the surface-dusting layer regularly updated. For effective temporary fix, dusting surface layer of the array there is designed mobile spray complex on the rail track for dust suppression. A unique feature of the complex is that the use of the track allows you to fully automate the process of dust control, use single spray gun fogger and to process tailings areas according to their consistently alluvium. Using of rail travel also allows increasing the weight of the transported water tanks to reduce the frequency of replenishment. At concurrence of spray direction and the direction of the wind complex works in surface wetting mode, and in the opposite directions - in air humidification mode (air coming from an array). The industrial production produces large amounts of secondary raw materials which are unusable for primary production and it is necessary to find ways to use them. This article focuses on the design and secondary raw materials usage from wastewater which occurs while arising from pulp using by-products and excavation of soils. This paper proposes an automatic measurement algorithm for calculating statistics of pulp fiber lengths and curvature. The fibers are extracted from digital images, and a parametric model is fit to the extracted objects. The modeling approach improves the robustness of the detection and enables connecting broken fiber parts into full length curves. The developed algorithm is compared to an alternative method, and concluded to yield similar results while providing additional features, such as curvature estimates, of the detected fibers.
