The article presents research which focused on the response of global hydroelastic ship with the use of numerical model and flexible model tests. The researchers developed a useful database for the validation of numerical models and analysis of the ship's design data. They also investigated oblique wave cases which are more complex to assess with the application of the tests.

The article discusses a study that proposed an efficient procedure for hydro-structure interactions for semi-submersible platforms exposed to sea waves. The wave loading is assumed to be linear and the structural response quasi static. The study showed how the hydrodynamic problem was solved by using the potential flow linear theory for the columns and pontoons. It also indicated that the proposed interfacing method can ensure the perfect balance of the structural model.
