Presented is a mathematical model that outlines the population dynamics of Prymnesium parvum, a species of phytoplankton commonly referred to as golden algae. This phytoplankton is understood to exhibit dormancy. It can reside in either an active-motile or dormant-non-motile state. Far-reaching ecological processes, such as nutrient recycling, can also impact the population dynamics of golden algae. Thus, this model incorporates dormancy and nutrient recycling for further accuracy and complexity. Included is a complete stability and sensitivity analysis with supporting phase plane portraits. A set of numerical simulations is also provided to support the theoretical results. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
