Abstract

The article describes a study which compared the amount of growth in the posterior and superior parts of the condylar head through removable functional appliances with gradual and maximal advancement of the mandible respectively, presented at the 6th International Orthodontic Congress held in Paris, France. Findings showed that condylar treatment changes with both devices were larger in the headgear-split-activator (HGA-S) group than in HGA mandible (HGA-M). It also indicated that treatment effects were substantial in the sagittal plane for both devices.
