Nations, including India, expeditiously embraced telemedicine to provide primary healthcare due to the extensive disruptions from the pandemic caused by the novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). This rapid integration was paramount, and the obstacles encountered during this critical period could offer valuable insights for developing and implementing future telemedicine endeavors aimed at fortifying primary healthcare services beyond the scope of COVID-19. Within the confines of this present review, we aim to elucidate the current applications of telemedicine in anesthesiology and perioperative care, delving into their potential impact, utilization, and conceivable challenges, particularly within the Indian context.
