The Fishery Committee for the Eastern Central Atlantic (CECAF) seeks to promote the sustainable utilization of the living marine resources across the Eastern Central Atlantic between Cape Spartel and the Congo river through informed development of fisheries management actions. Aquatic Sciences and Fisheries Abstracts (ASFA) is contributing to the CECAF-PESCAO project "Improved Regional Fisheries Governance in Western Africa", by developing a comprehensive inventory of marine fisheries research covering both primary literature (available online on both commercial and free to use platforms) and grey literature available at institutions holdings and not always accessible online. This assessment of fisheries management research in the region will enable CECAF, ASFA and, critically, member countries the means to access relevant contextual and discernible science-based materials and publications. Cataloguing and subsequent bibliometric analysis of large amounts of information specific to regional fisheries management will encourage solid research-based fisheries management recommendations at the national level by highlighting areas of fisheries management to investigate. This paper presents the preliminary results of the research inventory and bibliometric analysis, comparing the amount and type of information available in primary and grey literature collections for the region and at individual country level. We examine the role of one Abstracting and Indexing (A&I) service (Aquatic Sciences and Fisheries Abstracts - ASFA) as an interface between open science and grey literature. As an A&I service known for its coverage of grey literature, ASFA is evolving its technologies and partnerships to capitalize on the opportunities presented by Open Science. A Grey Literature strategy was implemented to ensure ASFA made the necessary changes to its monitoring, recording and reporting of grey literature coverage on its database. We describe how the strategy incorporates the Open Science movement into ASFA, by making use of the opportunities such as the increased number of repositories and literature; and vice-versa by providing increased access to grey literature and working with institutions to ensure their literature is captured on ASFA. Specifically we describe how ASFA is: (1) increasing access to grey literature by working in partnership with OA repositories (including harvesting from OAI-PMH compliant repositories); (2) using open source software to manage its indexing and search tools, allowing them to be utilized by, and receive contributions from, a greater number of users to aid the discoverability of grey literature; (3) ensuring comprehensive and timely coverage of grey literature among its global partnership, and providing funding for small specific projects which meet ASFA's grey literature priorities regards subject scope and content type; (4) working with the Open Science community in a Virtual Research Environment (VRE) -- such as iMarine -- to ensure a two way interaction between the Open Science movement and the promotion of grey literature in the future. We demonstrate that by taking the above steps to capitalize on the opportunities presented by Open Science and new technologies, an A&I service such as ASFA becomes a valued interface between Open Science and grey literature -- ensuring the recording and discovery of grey literature from aquatic sciences and fisheries institutions around the world. Pervious pavements have been making significant contributions to the urban stormwater management for many years. In this paper, the hydrological quantity and stormwater quality performance of various types of pervious pavements from the research works carried out by previous studies were reviewed. The laboratory scale and field work demonstrated that the performance of pervious pavements was superior as compared to the conventional pavements in reducing the hydrological quantities of stormwater such as surface runoff, total volume, and peak flow. Besides, the application of pervious pavements also helps to improve the physical, chemical, and biological quality of stormwater. Thus, the benefits of pervious pavements application in urban areas and developments are proven although further research studies are required in some area of application. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper studies a hydrographical space with an area of approx. 20,000 km2, located in the NE of Romania. The main objective of the study is to identify and delimit the water bodies (hydrographic microbazins) within the Prut hydrographic basin. This aspect is very important, in order to determine their status, establish future objectives regarding water management and improve or maintain a certain existing status. The methodologies developed by A.N. Apele Române Bucharest were used for the classification and delimitation of surface water bodies in types. In the study, the use of the GIS technique was very useful, considering the variety and spatialisation of the factors underlying the classification and delimitation of water bodies. This was done in the study, by using the ArcGIS 9.2 platform. The basic data used in this study came from the cadastral plans and the hydrographical maps of the studied area, as well as from ortho-photo-plans for the correction and updating of the graphic information. The attribute database was created and updated from the archive of D.A. Prut and field investigations. There have been used situation plans from the analogical archive, as well as Ortho-photo-plans for the period 2012-2017 and data retrieved by means of drones for setting (checking) the delimitation of borders. By applying this methodology, we found out informational layers with delimitation of water bodies, based on a classification according to the criteria to be presented in this paper. Approaching and solving this issue through GIS techniques is required and justified primarily because of the multitude of geographic spatial factors. The GIS approach to this type of analysis is extremely useful, because it allows tracking rapidly the evolution of the watercourse situation, making it easy to modify the intervening parameters and with immediate implications for the ensemble, in an incomparably shorter time than required by traditional methods [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper provides an overview of this IAHS symposium and PIAHS proceeding on "hydrologic nonstationarity and extrapolating models to predict the future". The paper provides a brief review of research on this topic, presents approaches used to account for nonstationarity when extrapolating models to predict the future, and summarises the papers in this session and proceeding.
