Continuous advancements in medical diagnostics and therapies drive progress within the field. Individuals recovering from upper limb injuries due to stroke benefit from rehabilitation exercises to restore function and regain daily activities. Addressing this need, there's an urgent demand for a cooperative robot-assisted prototype tailored for upper limb rehabilitation, capable of devising safe training programs. This study delved into Electromyography (EMG) signal patterns of the right deltoids in nine healthy subjects. Tasks included horizontal abductions, adductions, elbow flexions, and extensions, each performed for 30 seconds, both freely and with robotic assistance. Results revealed EMG signals during robotic assistance closely resembled those without, suggesting the effectiveness of these movement sequences in stroke rehabilitation. Cancer is still being a problem for health around the world. Sargassum sp. and Padina sp. potential as anticancer because it contains bioactive compounds that are believed to be able to overcome several health problems including as antioxidants, anti-inflammatory and anticancer. The purpose of this study was to determine the activity of the ethanol extract of Sargassum sp., Padina sp. and taurine on cytotoxic, antiproliferative, and p53 expression tests on HeLa cervical cancer cells. Extraction of Sargassum sp and Padina sp was carried out by maceration method, using ethanol analyze as solvent. The concentrations used were 625 ppm, 1250 ppm, 1875 ppm, and 2500 ppm. Evaluation of cell viability using IC50 values observed from the MTT Assay method. The antiproliferation test was determined by the doubling time value. Measurement of p53 gene expression using RT-PCR. The results showed that the ethanolic extracts of Sargassum sp., Padina sp., and taurine were cytotoxic, anti-proliferative and able to increase p53, as evidenced by the decreased percentage of cell viability, longer doubling time than control and increased p53 gene expression in each treatment. So it can be concluded that the ethanolic extracts of Sargassum sp., Padina sp., and taurine have the potential to be developed as anticancer agents in HeLa cervical cancer. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Design process descriptions in the literature in general and those using C-K theory in particular lack some useful cognitive information that may affect the credibility of the process. Notions from abduction research are presented and proposed for enhancing such descriptions. A technique to produce spin orientation in RI beams was developed for measurements of nuclear moments. The present scheme of two-step reaction realized highly spin-aligned RI beams for a wide range of exotic nuclei. Recently the two-step reaction scheme was applied to the magnetic moment measurement of an isomeric state of a neutron-rich nucleus 75Cu, where its magnetic moment was determined for the first time owing to a 30%-spin-aligned beam. The article analyzes the possibility of diagnosing damage to large moving elements of launch facilities ground equipment by analyzing the reference video shooting operations of abduction and adduction of these elements. This approach will make it possible to carry out additional agile diagnostics of structural integrity and analysis of the processes occurring during abduction and adduction operations without using additional measuring systems, since reference video shooting is obligatory during such operations. As an example, the analysis of excitation of various forms of oscillations at the abduction of the filling mast cable of the Soyuz-2 rocket at the Vostochny cosmodrome was carried out based on video images available on the Internet. Diagonal shot (DS) and straight shot (SS) of forehand loop are the most common techniques in table tennis. The aim of this study was to investigate the differences in lower-limb kinematics between the DS and SS. A male Chinese table tennis participants performed the DS and SS in random order. Three-dimensional kinematic data were captured using eight-camera Vicon motion analysis system with a frequency of 200 Hz. Key findings from the study were that in the backwards-end (BE) phase, large significant differences in joint angles between DS and SS were found in the sagittal and transverse planes. Compared with DS, SS showed significantly larger knee external rotation with larger ankle external rotation and larger ankle adduction. In the forward-end (FE) phase, SS showed significantly larger knee adduction compared with DS. SS showed larger ankle abduction and internal rotation compared with DS. SS showed significantly larger knee internal rotation compared with DS. The results demonstrated that the SS requires a higher lower limb activity than a DS. These biomechanical findings may be beneficial for table tennis athletes and coaches as a method of optimizing performance characteristics for both competition and training. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The authors have developed a shoulder joint model considering RRR type serial manipulator. The servo motors are placed in such a way that they are dynamically balanced. For estimating the torques for each motor L-E method is employed. The joint architecture developed depicts circumduction, pronation and supination and abduction and adduction. Wear and simulator testing are complicated tasks. Controlled wear testing should not be routinely done to qualify a material, but rather to elucidate wear mechanisms. It, generally, may be described as a machine used to test a joint replacement under conditions approximating those occurring in the human body. Simulator tests, on the other hand, can be used to conduct accelerated protocols that replicate/simulate particularly extreme conditions, thereby establishing the limits of performance for the material. The present paper is dealing with the study of the most common simulators, and the design of a new one that has been analysed by a CAD software to meet the aforementioned study and the ISO 14242 Standard recommendations. The article discusses the findings of a study which determined the effect of mirror feedback on the alignment of lower extremities while running. The experiment focused on females with patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS), and proceeded with the intention of reducing peak hip adduction (HADD) and hip internal rotation (HIR) while increasing knee adduction (KADD). The scores for lower extremity functional index (LEFI) suggested that utilizing a mirror for gait retraining can significantly improve running mechanics and reduce PFPS.

The article explores the use of lateral wedges in biochemical risk factors reduction for knee osteoarthritis. Eight obese and control women were observed in the authors' study and were asked to perform 10 walking trials wearing standard walking shoes. The authors found that there were significant reduction in peak external knee adduction moment with the use of an eight degree laterally-wedged insole. They added that the insoles also reduced angular impulse of the external knee adduction moment for both groups.

The article highlights a study which investigated pressures on the knee while performing a lateral lifting task on kneeling postures. Lifting tasks were performed on full flexion (Near Full), 90 degrees knee flexion (Near 90) and with only the right knee down (One Knee). The findings of the study suggested that the Near 90 and One Knee are the preferred postures for lateral lifting. The study also suggested that workers should limit using the Near Full posture when performing a lateral lift.

The article focuses on a study which investigated how the motor performance of the thumb is affected by the orientation and direction of movement during mobile phone use. The best overall thumb performance was observed with diagonal movements which rely primarily on abduction/adduction. The article discusses a study of the influence of the commercial flexible, non-heel and inexpensive footwear, Moleca, on knee adduction moments during gait in elderly women (EW) with osteoarthritis (OA). The researchers examined the gait of 21 EW with OA and 24 asymptomatic control women who walked in a self-selected cadence in barefoot, Moleca and no-heel conditions. They found that the use of Moleca provided EW with OA adduction moments not different from barefoot gait and a significant reduction in the knee loads.

The article discusses a study of the kinematic grip responses which resulted from the rotational object perturbations. The researchers used a Vicon motion-capture system to gather kinematic information from both the thumb and index finger (IF) of the dominant hand of an unimpaired subject and an instrumented test object. They found that the thumb and IF react with both adduction and abduction as well as flexion and extension responses.
