The paper presents issues concerning power system modelling and model validation, with particular emphasis on renewable energy sources and their integration in large electrical networks. These issues were raised at a workshop organized by UVIG and IREQ held earlier this year. From the presentations and discussions, we synthesize a general framework to summarize the model validation process. Presented in the form of tables, this framework can serve as a checklist of considerations to help model designers validate their models. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
