This article addresses gender in IT courses in the UNLP, taking into consideration multiple contexts: a) The proportion of gender in STEM courses in the UNLP and specifically IT courses (these numbers are compared with a previous analysis from 2009). b) Gender statistics in computer science courses in Argentina. c) The international gender context globally and in the US in particular. The paper also describes some of the actions carried out to promote the study of IT and perspective of young students about their future job prospects. Due to the fact that the women studying IT degrees in UNLP largely exceed by 60% the figures of national statistics these action are referred to as good practices for reducing gender gap.
