The paper analyses the most important factors influencing the contestable market through a quantitative and original research based on the opinions of Romanian companies. Contestability is a concept that relates to the adequate level of competition on the market. The optimum competition or workable competition for each market should be identified according to the stage of market evolution, specific circumstances and according to the market participants' ranking and perceptions. The significance of different factors has been tested using regression functions in order to draw some relevant conclusions for the Romanian market. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
