On February 6, 2023, at 01 : 17 UTC, a M = 7.8 earthquake struck the southern area of Turkey near Gaziantep town and was followed by a second earthquake of M = 7.5 at 10 : 24 UTC with the epicenter in Elbistan city. Both events were associated with the Anatolian Fault System and have claimed over 50,000 victims, as reported by the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority, and caused serious damage in the regions of southern Turkey and northern Syria. Seismic waves related to strong Turkey earthquakes have been recorded both by seismic stations throughout the globe and on other devices such as the ground deformation (GNSS, strainmeters, or tiltmeters) networks. In this paper, we show and analyze the earthquake signals recorded by bore-hole tilt stations that monitor seismic and volcanic activities at Mt. Etna. Tilt stations showed very large variations, despite their distance from the epicenter (approximately 1950 km) with a period between 10 and 25 seconds. We compared tilt and seismic data for a co–located station evidencing a very similar waveform that highlight how tiltmeters respond to translational acceleration rather than ground tilt during a teleseism, suggesting that, for waves with this period, they may behave as horizontal seismometers. By using these signals, we evidence the different behaviors of two of the most used models of tiltmeters on volcanoes (Lily and Pinnacle) and how they are useful for instrument calibration. Summary: Human activities are directly related to fossil fuel consumption and cause global warming and climate change effects by emitting greenhouse gas into the lower atmosphere. To reduce and adapt to such effects, renewable energy sources such as surface dams, including hydroelectric energy (HE) generation units, are gaining importance. In the current literature, HE potential calculations are based on formulations that are quite simple, clear and do not distinguish between different situations. In this paper, two classification methodologies are proposed for better assessment of HE production. The first one is based on the concept of the hypsographic curve to distinguish different drainage basin features into "Young," "Mature" and "Old." The second classification takes into account the newly defined energy index (EI) principle, which helps to classify the HE generation capability of drainage basins into "Very low," "Low," "Normal," "High" and "Very high." The application of the proposed methodology is presented for three drainage basins from the upstream sub‐basins of the Tigris River in Turkey. A comparison of the results shows that the proposed methodologies not only give numerical values but also sets linguistically rational and logical rules for the HE potential of a drainage basin. In the upstream basin of the Tigris River, the EI values vary between 0.705 and 0.122, corresponding to the "High" and "Low" categories, respectively. Since the 2008 financial crisis, it is an important issue to assess the systemic risk of banks, but there is a lack of research on the assessment of the systemic risk of Turkey's financial system. In addition, geometric Brownian motion is used in most of the assessment frameworks of systemic risk under the normal financial market state, while the Turkish financial market has the situation of spike and thick tail. Therefore, this paper proposes a fractional Brownian motion measurement framework of systemic risk to study the systemic risk of the Turkish financial system. Firstly, this paper uses the data of 11 Turkish listed banks from 2014 to 2019 to conduct a normality test and demonstrate that its market has the characteristics of a fractal market; that is, there is a spike and thick tail distribution phenomenon in the stock price trend. Then, this paper proposes a fractional Brownian motion systemic risk measurement framework (fBSM). Based on the proposed theoretical framework and the actual data of Turkish listed banks from 2014 to 2019, a dynamically evolving Turkish banking network system is constructed to measure the systemic risk in the Turkish banking system. The research results find that the systemic risk is the highest in 2017, which then improved and gradually recovered. In addition, when analyzing the sensitivity of the Hurst index, it shows that with the increase in Hurst index, the Hurst index elasticity of Turkish banks' asset value increases gradually and the asset value also increases continuously. Hence, the Hurst index has a greater impact on asset value. Therefore, the measurement framework of systemic risk based on the fBSM can better monitor the systemic risk than the traditional geometric Brownian motion in the Turkish banking system. Purpose: To find out whether psychological capital has a mediating role in the relationship between job satisfaction and turnover intention on nurses. Design and Methods: This study is a cross‐sectional descriptive study. 466 nurses participated in this study. Data were collected via paper‐and‐pencil format using Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire, Psychological Capital Questionnaire and Turnover Intention Scale. Conclusions: Our findings revealed effects of poor psychological capital among nurses. The effect of psychological capital was statistically significant and it partially mediated job satisfaction and turnover intention. Purpose: The study aims to develop a measurement tool that will determine the innovative leadership levels of nurses. Methods: This methodological paper was conducted with 615 nurses. The content validity, factor analyses, and Cronbach's alpha test were used for psychometric assessment. Findings: As a result of the exploratory factor analysis, the scale consists of 43 items and five subscales. Confirmatory factor analysis showed that the innovative leadership scale (ILS) is a valid model. Practical Implications: There is a need for innovative leading nurses in the healthcare field. Purpose: This paper aims to evaluate the validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the social cyberloafing (SC) scale as an important predictor of the mental health of healthcare employees. Methods: The data for this descriptive cross‐sectional study was obtained from 202 Turkish healthcare employees. We followed Dima's 6‐step protocol for validation. Findings: The one‐dimensional structure of the scale was found to be homogenous (H = 0.54) and reliable (α = 0.87). The CFA demonstrated that the 7‐item and one‐factor construct was a valid instrument to measure the SC (GFI = 0.98, CFI = 0.98, TLI = 0.95, SRMR = 0.03, RMSEA = 0.09). Summary: Today, it has become imperative to design these systems at optimum size to make reliable and minimize the total costs of renewable energy systems. There are many studies about size optimization in the literature. However, few studies have approached the problem with a heuristic method at different levels of reliability and compared the results with commercial software. This paper aims to fill this gap by proposing an artificial bee colony (ABC) algorithm with different reliability ratios for renewable energy systems size optimization and comparing the results of the proposed method with the results of the HOMER Pro software. The current methodology is validated with a real case study on the load demand of a school building (latitude 41.37, longitude 27.3) in Turkey. The peak and average load per day for the school building are 7.4 kW and 51.8 kW, respectively. The proposed method has presented 14.71%, 14.36%, and 6.23%, respectively, more economical solutions than HOMER Pro software for hybrid photovoltaic (PV)/wind/battery, PV/battery, and wind/battery renewable energy system scenarios. In addition, the ABC algorithms with different reliability ratios (%0, %0.2, %1, and %3) are used to analyze the effect on the system cost of the loss of power supply probability. According to the results, the hybrid renewable energy system consisting of 230 PV panels, 6 wind turbines, and 34 batteries is the most economical option with a total annual cost of $42 717.58 compared to stand‐alone systems with a reliability %0 ratio. It has been seen that increasing the loss of power supply probability reduces system costs. Consequently, this study shows that using the ABC algorithm in size optimization of renewable energy systems yields accelerates the decision‐making process and more optimized solutions. Turkey has been one of the earliest participants of the international climate policy process, since the Ministerial Conference on Atmospheric Pollution and Climate Change held in 1989. The country has prepared strategy documents, actions plans, sectoral policies, and projects to detect and adapt climate change effects. However, any of this has not turned into a main plan to support climate change mitigation on an international scale. The purpose of this paper is to identify local climate change mitigation strategies of Sakarya city, Turkey, by strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) analysis. For this purpose, relevant information were gathered from Covenant of Mayors, greenhouse gas inventories of the city, National Energy Efficiency Action Plan, online workshop with 44 local stakeholders from private sector and local universities held on 13.10.2020. The results emphasized the importance of the cross-link between local adaptation and mitigation in terms of energy demand and energy-based emissions on national and international scale. Aim: This study aimed to analyse the treatment cost of a patient, depending on the number of patients treated, patient waiting times, and the number of nurses and doctors employed in an emergency department of a private hospital. Background: Within health systems, changes in health care resources can be very costly, especially if these changes are long‐term. The discrete‐event simulation method described in this paper allows for the monitoring and analysis of complicated changes in real systems by using computer‐based modelling. Method: The discrete event simulation model was derived from nine scenarios according to the number of nurses and doctors, and a comparison was made between the results of the scenarios and the actual results. Results: Among the scenarios, scenario 6 provided the lowest treatment cost for a patient by employing three doctors and two nurses with the best performance. The cost of treatment for a patient varies between ŧ9.00 and ŧ11.00 depending on the value of δ, and the daily cost of these resources to the hospital is ŧ1300.77. Conclusions: This study provides a clear picture of a cost analysis comparison based on changes made about the actual health system in the computer‐based simulated environment. Implications for Nursing Management: The workforce data of nurses and doctors offers enough detail for cost analysis in health care settings to calculate the cost of treatment for a patient. Objective: The present systematic review and meta‐analysis aimed to analyse the effects of administered interventions on the quality of life of children with cancer in Turkey. Methods: The quantitative studies conducted with paediatric oncology patients, analysing the quality of life of Turkish children, and published papers from 2009 to 2019 were searched. Joanna Briggs Institution MAStARI Experimental and Quasi‐Experimental Research Control List and Quality Index were used for methodological assessment. Five studies comprising a total of 264 samples were included. Four studies were nonrandomised controlled trials, and one was a quasi‐experimental study. Results: Tests for heterogeneity showed that the studies, which included interventions increasing the quality of life of children with cancer, were heterogeneous. The common effect size of all studies on quality of life was determined as having a strong positive effect. Conclusions: This meta‐analysis and systematic review contribute to the knowledge of Turkish health care professionals regarding these interventions by producing results with high levels of evidence on the improvement of the quality of life among children with cancer. The present study also significantly raises awareness and encourages health care professionals to implement interventions for the improvement of quality of life among children with cancer. Summary: The application of renewable energy sources in electrical energy generation is becoming widespread due to the decrease of installation costs and the increase of environmental concerns. Hybrid power generation systems are advantageous to meet the load demand, but optimal sizing is the main concern for having a cost‐effective system based on given load demand and techno‐economic indicators. This paper proposes a deterministic algorithm and utilizes genetic and artificial bee colony (ABC) optimization algorithms for optimal sizing of PV/battery and PV/WT/battery hybrid systems with minimum levelized cost of electricity (LCOE) constraint for two locations, Nigde and Bozcaada, in Turkey. The loss of power supply probability (LPSP) is used to build a reliable system and to make sure that the system produces required energy. Experimental results showed that optimal sizing of each location is different due to different wind and solar characteristics of locations. PV/battery model is more suitable for Nigde location with 1.22% LPSP and 0.1514 [$/kWh] LCOE, while PV/WT/battery model is more cost‐efficient for Bozcaada location with 1.952% LPSP and 0.0872 [$/kWh] LCOE. Time performances of the algorithms are also investigated. It has been seen that the ABC algorithm has better performance and less execution time. This study demonstrated that heuristic algorithms are more applicable than deterministic algorithms, due to fast discovery of optimal solutions for hybrid renewable energy systems. Ensuring international transport corridors' safety is essential for countries along the routes. For the sustainable development of international transport channels, this paper discusses how to evaluate the operational risks and how to alleviate the adverse effects caused by emergencies. First, an indicator system of international transport corridors' operational risks was constructed, which consists of 30 indicators from five dimensions of politics, economy, society, safety, and technology. Secondly, a comprehensive scoring approach combined with a network analysis method was applied to examine the effects caused by operational hazards. On this basis, the quantitative method and rigorous statistical analysis were used to evaluate the China-Pakistan-Iran-Turkey International Transport Corridor in the south line of the Silk Road Economic Belt, whose operational risks from 2010 to 2019 were analyzed. Finally, the operational risk index was discussed in detail. Results demonstrate the following. (1) During the China-Pakistan-Iran-Turkey International Transport Corridor, the Pakistan section has the highest operational risk index, and the next culprit is Turkey, followed by Iran. The Chinese section has the lowest operational risk index. (2) Pakistan has been trapped in severe political risks and security risks in recent years. Turkey suffers from severe security risks due to the Kurdish problem. Iran ranks first in terms of economic risk and social risk. Special attention should be paid to the natural risks for China. (3) Pakistan's operational risks will exhibit consistently high in the future, while China appears downwards in long-term trend. The operational risk index in Iran is on the rise. Summary Wind energy, with its high potential, has an important place among renewable energy sources. Therefore, the number of investments on wind energy is increasing with new turbine technologies and solutions. For the investors of these technologies, how to determine the location of wind turbines for such investments is a challenging and critical problem. Wind maps of the country are a useful resource to determine high potential locations. However, such maps often present an overview to provide the general picture, and there is a need for a more detailed analysis, specifically on the potential plant area. In this paper, we investigate the use of a recent regional wind power forecast method to determine the wind power potential. By applying the RegionalSHWIP on a potential plant area, investors can obtain the preliminary power prediction, hence the wind potential of the area, without any financial cost recurring for measurements and with negligible manhour for computation. The wind resource assessments of the RegionalSHWIP have been analyzed in comparison to the wind maps of four provinces from different regions of Turkey. In all of these test provinces, it has been observed that the model produces results compatible with the values in the wind potential atlas. In addition, the proposed model has been run on 16 online power plants by selecting 4 different real wind power plants from each province, pretending that these power plants are offline. It has been observed that the total MWh values obtained from the actual generation of these power plants and the total MWh values obtained by estimation are also compatible and the results have been found to support the model.
