Studies were conducted on a constant stationary in forest stands undergoing thinning cuts with an intensity of 34%. The objects of the study were the forests of Arkhangelsk forestry in the Arkhangelsk region. The studied forests are located in poorly developed areas, which have high ripening age, low productivity, development of industries with unfavorable environmental impact. In order to improve forest management when selecting harvesting methods, in addition to the intended purpose of forest stands and forest type, it is necessary to take into account the structure of the stand, relief conditions, the area of the forests, as well as the specific technology and season of harvesting. The conducted research is of great scientific and practical interest for the organization of effective forest management and forest management in the forests of the Arctic zone of the European part of the Russian Federation. Mangrove forests in the Sambas Regency area have changed over the last few decades, both naturally and through anthropogenic activities. The existence of mangrove forests has an important ecological role and contributes to the economic sustainability of communities in the coastal area of Sambas Regency. This study aims to monitor the condition of mangrove forests in Sambas Regency and provide spatial data related to the distribution and changes that have occurred in the mangrove forests of Sambas Regency in the last few decades. The method used in this study is a combination of remote sensing methods with Landsat satellite imagery data from 1989 to 2021, digital elevation model data from SRTM, aerial map data for virtual ground checks, and ground truth data collection in the field. The classification of mangrove forests is carried out in a supervised classification with the random forest algorithm on the Google Earth Engine platform. The results show that the existing mangrove forest area is 8,571.95 ha, distributed over 10 districts in Sambas Regency. The random forest algorithm classification with 100 decision trees resulted in a model accuracy of 0.970 and overall accuracy of 79.61%. Changes were detected from 1989 in.the form of a reduction in the area of 2,399.72 ha and an increase in the mangrove area of 2,549.95 ha. Several factors that cause changes in mangrove areas are degradation, land conversion into ponds and agricultural areas as well as mangrove expansion both naturally and from mangrove planting by the surrounding community and from government programs. The use of remote sensing data can assist in monitoring changes in mangrove areas in Sambas Regency and can be used as recommendations for conservation, climate change mitigation, and sustainable management of mangrove forests. Forest management and community development are widely explored to demonstrate the proper strategy to meet the harmonious relationship between humans and nature. It is especially important in the area where human population growth contributes to significant threats to forest resources. With the diverse forest ecosystem and specific characteristics of the local community socio-cultural background, there is still a need to complete a comprehensive understanding of the forest and human relationship towards sustainable forest management. It is especially crucial in Indonesia, where the forest ecosystem is bio-physically diverse, and the human living system is also diverse. The aim of the research was to describe the experience of the East Java Provincial Government in drawing the strategy for forest management and community development with special reference to the area adjacent to Mt. Arjuno and Mt. Welirang. This study shows that the Government of Eat Java has provided numerous policies to support community participation and facilitated numerous strategic programs to increase local community welfare. The participation of related stakeholders in forest management was also significant. Problems with the local community participation included a lack of knowledge, skill, and entrepreneurial spirit to optimize forest resources sustainably. The adaptation to response social, economic and environmental changes was poor, leading to the poor capacity of adaptation. These limitations become serious threats to community development. The COVID-19 pandemic has affected various aspects of global society's livelihood, including changes in human and forest relations as a result of social restrictions. This paper presents the challenges faced by local communities in managing and utilizing forest resources during the Covid-19 pandemic. The research sample was on Sumba, Flores, and Timor islands. Observations, interviews, and secondary data collection were carried out and analyzed descriptively-qualitatively to understand the challenges faced by local communities that manage state and community forests. The results of the research showed that even though farmers have experience in conventional farming, they are not yet supported by adequate educational and expertise capacities. This has implications for the ability to innovate in the use of forest resources during the pandemic. Institutional farmers experience a decline in the function of coordination, and this has implications for the aspects of farmers' livelihoods from the forest areas. The biggest changes occur to farmers in state forest areas and have implications for the potential for a higher poverty increase compared to community forest farmers. The development of community forests in the form of bamboo forests in Tana Toraja and North Toraja Regencies is strongly supported by the high attitudes and perceptions of the local community. Community forests are built and managed independently by the community, who are gathered in a family kinship bond through the Tongkonan. Tongkonan functions for housing, social activities, traditional ceremonies, and fostering kinship. This community tradition can be used as a modality in developing and preserving a dwindling bamboo forest. Therefore, this study aims to: 1) determine the role of bamboo forests in community culture in Tana Toraja and North Toraja Regencies. 2) determine the role of local wisdom and its application in the development of bamboo forests. This study used interviews with 35 key informants and a literature study. Data were analyzed descriptively. The results showed that Bamboo forests play an essential role in Toraja cultures, such as material for traditional buildings, household appliances, arts, and food containers. Furthermore, the results showed that this culture emerged an effort to maintain and develop bamboo forests. This spirit of Toraja culture reflected the harmonious relationship between humans and nature. Therefore, preserving Toraja culture can be synergized with efforts to preserve community bamboo forests. In this study, we conducted the plant population investigations in the Goettingen forest, located in Low Saxony, Germany, from 2022 to 2023. Our research focused on six distinct populations of Stellaria holostea L. across six plots within the forest. These plots encompassed varying tree species and forest management conditions, including a young beech managed forest (Plot #1), a virgin beech forest (Plot #2), and four managed old beech forest plots (Plots #3-6) subjected to different anthropogenic influences. To assess these coenopopulations' ontogenetic and vitality structures, we employed a range of scientific methodologies, including geobotanical description, morphometry analysis, complex vitality assessment, and statistical data analysis. Morphometric analyses allowed us to discern the characteristic size parameters of S. holostea plants within each specific habitat. Notably, our findings revealed that the ontogenetic spectra of S. holostea in areas varying in the intensity of anthropogenic influence exhibited incompleteness, except in the virgin forest plot, where all ontogenetic stages were observed. *We conducted a factor analysis to gauge vitality, identifying critical morphological parameters unique to each population. Our results indicated a pronounced level of resilience in coenopopulations residing in areas devoid of forestry activities. Specifically, five of the six S. holostea populations were classified as having low vitality (class c). In contrast, the highest vitality class (class a) was predominantly observed among the populations residing in the virgin forest. This study, utilizing S. holostea as an exemplar species, highlights the considerable disruption that forestry management imparts upon the herbaceous layer of forest ecosystems and underscores the resultant degradation in population quality. Forests are the most important areas for world biodiversity. Good forest management produces higher quality species in their growth and provides predictive results for plant growth including eucalyptus cultivation. As an Australian tree native, Eucalyptus has been used ever since earliest times for certain purposes with a variety of more than 900 species. In particular, Eucalyptus species are extensively used in the pulp industry. There are many benefits of Eucalyptus have been well proven by studies such as extraction into eucalyptus oil production, aromatherapy ingredients, and others. The growth of eucalyptus also has an impact on the content of eucalyptus when it will be processed into production materials later. This article aims to review the characteristics in the improvement of eucalyptus for effective and efficient management of forest resources. The Batutegi Forest Management Unit (FMU) has implemented Social Forestry programs, one of which is the Community Forest (HKm) scheme. The high social capital owned by forest farmer groups will facilitate the implementation of the HKM program in the field and can be a problem-solving solution. The variables of social capital, namely mutual trust, cooperation, and tolerance, will be able to build networks both within community groups and with other community groups. There have been many types of research on the correlation between community characteristics and community perception of community forest management (HKm), but fewer studies related the social characteristics HKm's members to their social capital. Under these conditions, the research which has the objective to analyze the correlations of social characteristics and the elements forming the social capital of forest farmers managing HKm is needed. Data was collected in December 2018 and using interviews by open-ended and semi-structured questionnaires. Respondents amounted 86 persons are member of Sinar Harapan and Mahardika HKm Forest farmers group (HKm Gapoktan). Non-parametric test using Spearman Rank is a data analysis method in this study. The results showed that social characteristics of Gapoktan HKm Mahardika members are correlated with elements of social capital i.e. income and length of stay correlated to trust, age correlated to network and income correlated to norms. Meanwhile, Gapoktan HKm Sinar Harapan members only have one element of social capital that correlated to social characteristics, namely trust which correlated to age, education, income, and length of stay. This study assesses ALOS-2/PALSAR-2 (ALOS2) polarimetric images for detecting forest volume losses due to selective logging in a region in the Brazilian Amazon. Two logging-intensive areas, APU 2016, and APU 2017, were studied. ALOS2 imagery attributes, including backscatter and phase data, were analyzed for differences between logged and unlogged regions using Wilcoxon's nonparametric test at a 95% confidence level. The Radar Normalized Difference Vegetation Index proved effective in detecting selective logging-induced forest volume losses, with consistent results (p-values of 0.003 for APU 2016 and 0.037 for APU 2017). This paper presents a technique for mapping the vegetation cover of mountainous areas based on seasonal satellite data from Landsat-OLI 8, using information about vegetation growth conditions. This mapping is based on the creation of a layer of relatively homogeneous areas in terms of relief and climate. Training samples for the classification of images were formed within these areas. Satellite images were classified using the maximum likelihood method. The created map reflects the spatial distribution of 9 classes of forest vegetation and 10 classes of non-forest vegetation. Biodiversity is influenced by the process of economic development, between the two there is a causal relationship - when development does not respect the environment, biodiversity experiences negative transformations. The EU Biodiversity Strategy 2030, which derives from the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, calls for member states to step up their conservation efforts to protect 30% of Europe's land and marine area by 2030 (of which 10% will have to be strictly protected). Although Europe already has more protected areas than any other continent (mainly through the Natura 2000 Network) and among the highest proportions of its area covered by protected areas, the current network of protected sites is not large enough to protect biodiversity. This paper proposes an analysis of the significant aspects of biodiversity in Romania, based on statistical data, in the context of the sustainable development goals. Evaluating public data sources, national concerns in the field of environmental protection, respectively biodiversity, are highlighted, through the analysis of specific indicators, through which the progress made in achieving the goals of the 2030 Agenda is evaluated: protected areas, conservation and protection of wetlands, mountain ecosystems, sustainable forest management, transition to circular economy, relation with agriculture - influences and consequences, all in a statistical approach, at national level (without neglecting, however, the European context). The necessity for urban forest management system among local authorities is important, as it will change the efficiency of street trees planning and management. This work addressed the main objective to develop a prototype system for urban forest management with case study implementation for Majlis Perbandaran Kangar (MPK). The specific objectives are to derive design requirements to implement tree inventory and trees emergency incidents response. The methodology of system development is applied from Peffers's Design Science Research Methodology (DSRM). The method implementation is delivering system analysis and design using UML modeling that demonstrates the prototype system developed meets the functionalities and requirements established, and lastly performed the testing and evaluation for the validity of the system developed in the context of the problem described. The outcome of work is the prototype of Urban Forest Management System with expectation to improve urban trees management effectiveness and efficiency. Forests are the main source of economy and livelihood for millions of tribals worldwide. Tribal people are important owing to their residing in harmony with forests and involvement in conservation which is recognized worldwide. The present work is an attempt to provide information on the involvement of tribals of Jammu and Kashmir that constitutes 11.91% of its population to promote forest management and conservation, especially post implementation of Forest Rights Act, 2006. The study indicates that tribal involvement with their indigenous knowledge has the substantial potential to protect and conserve forests in the study area. An in-depth analysis was done on the involvement of tribal people of Jammu and Kashmir in forest conservation. The observations indicate that the grant of rights to tribals of J&K after implementation of Forest Rights Act, 2006 would secure their claim over forest products, reduce friction and help link them firmly with the forests in the long run. The acceptance of tribals as an integral part of forests, having rights over its products and their involvement would help in promoting forest conservation initiatives effectively in the study area. Each year, between 60,000 and 80,000 forest fires occur, destroying between 3 and 10 million hectares. Therefore, it becomes vital that it is detected and prevented at their premature stage. This tragedy is mostly caused by rising global temperatures, lightning, as well as other human factors like land conversion for agriculture and poor forest management. Albatross is a self-sustaining glider with a wingspan of 2.8m that will aid in early detection of forest fires, thereby limiting the scope of damage. It glides at an altitude of 240ft and transmits live feeds of the region it is covering to the base station for image processing, alerting the officials in charge with the exact GPS location if any fire/smoke is detected. The major advantage of this glider over other drones is that it is energy efficient. It can cruise for a longer period of time using the solar panels embedded on the wings and has an energy storage unit for powering it in the night. SOLIDWORKS and ANSYS software were used to analyze the stresses and displacements at every point on the wing to obtain an optimal aerodynamic design. A group of gliders deployed to monitor a forest of area 4000 km2 such as the Abujmarh forest in Chhattisgarh, is one such application of the project. Forest management is defined by the complex and dynamic integration of several sub-systems. The goal of forest management is to optimize the function of forest management by minimizing ecosystem damage. Therefore, this study aims to evaluate hybrid model approaches to support forest management decisions. This research uses literature review methods to gain a theoretical foundation as support for problem-solving. The step of the literature review is done by collecting previous research, selecting according to the topic of discussion, paper analysis by taking the essence, then evaluation and discussion to draw conclusions. The basic approach of using hybrid models to support forest management decisions helps forestry and plantation management understand the processes and interactions between subsystems that occur within the forest and garden systems studied by taking into account various influences in variable inputs. The conclusion is based on the results of analysis and discussions that demonstrate the ability of hybrid models to represent factors for the influence of productivity in forest management.
