This work is to apply wavelet packet transformation for the recognition of isolated handwritten Malayalam (one of the south Indian languages) characters. The key idea is that count of zero crossings of wavelet transform coefficients of an image characterize it. A set of 3000 images of 20 selected characters are used for classification. All images are normalized to have same height, binarized and inverted. Two-level Wavelet packet transformation is applied on each character image. Count of zero-crossings in each of the sixteen subbands together with a structural feature forms the feature vector. Feed forward back propagation network is used for classification. We obtained about 90% accuracy in classification and recognition. Further study by including more characters and more samples is being carried out. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In the paper a novel medical image fusion algorithm which combines the advantages of orthogonal wavelet packets transform and 2v-SVM is researched and realized. CT and MRI images are fused using this fusion algorithm. Firstly, the signal frequency bands of original images are divided into many levels using orthogonal wavelet packets decomposition effectively, then we construct a sort of linear weighted fusion arithmetic operators which import 2v-SVM to medical image fusion. A new node coefficients matrix is obtained using the proposed arithmetic operators. The objective analysis data of the experiment results show that the presented fusion algorithm is valid and advantaged. The article presents information on the concept of Uncertainity principle. An equation is given to describe the principle. In the equation, h is German physicst Max karl Ernst Ludwig Planck's constant, and p is the momentum of the particle p = mv, where in is mass and v is velocity. In practice, a wave cannot be infinitely long, which means that the wavelength of the particle is spread in the close vicinity of Louis Victor de Broglie wavelength. If a wave packet is highly localized, then it is impossible to associate it with a well-defined momentum. On the other hand, a wave packet whose momentum is well defined must be spatially broad.

A definition of the term "AppleTalk Address Resolution Protocol (AARP) Probe Packets" is presented. It refers to packets transmitted by AARP that determine whether a randomly selected node identification (ID) is being used by another node in a non-extended AppleTalk network. If the node ID is not being used, the sending node used that node ID, but it the node ID is being used, the sending node chooses a different ID and sends more AARP probe packets.
