The query optimization problem in data base and data warehouse management systems is quite similar. Changes to Joins sequences, projections and selections, usage of indexes, and aggregations are all decided during the analysis of an execution schedule. The main goal of these changes is to decrease the query response time. The optimization operation is often dedicated to a single node. This paper proposes optimization to grid or cluster data warehouses / databases. Tests were conducted in a multi-agent environment, and the optimization focused not only on a single node but on the whole system as well. A new idea is proposed here with multi-criteria optimization that is based on user-given parameters. To meet the requirement and solve the problems in system integration field, A Federation Structure based Multi-Agent System (FSMAS) model is proposed in this paper, with emphasis on the collaboration algorithm. This paper presents the process of partition and collaboration of the Agent tasks, the acquaintance first based on CNP algorithm in collaboration. FSMAS is applied to the development of agent-based system integration platform and tools. The MAS-based control seems to be better suited for manufacturing control because of its discrete event character. Nevertheless, for continuous industrial processes the MAS-based control can be also very attractive. In this paper, a synthesis of the MAS-based control system for the continuous process is presented. A biological reactor is controlled using respirometric approach. In this approach, both standard control loops and additional experiments are performed to obtain measurements not available on-line. Therefore, the system consists of different control agents being able to cooperate or to inhibit each other in order to achieve the appropriate goals. Security in WiFi networks has become a major concern as the wireless networks are vulnerable to security threats than wired networks. The 802.11i wireless networks uses 4 way handshake protocol to distribute the key hierarchy in order to encrypt the data communication. In our previous research work [2], we have discussed the use of Quantum Key Distribution (QKD), for key distribution in 802.11 wireless networks. The whole communication flow of our proposed protocol can be split into several key processes. It can be seen that these processes can be implemented efficiently using Software Agents. In this paper we generalize and merge two models of roles used in multiagent systems which address complementary aspects: enacting roles and communication among roles in an organization or institution. We do this by proposing a metamodel of roles and specializing the metamodel to two existing models. We show how the two approaches can be integrated since they deal with complementary aspects: Boella [1] focuses on roles as a way to specify interactions among agents, and, thus, it emphasizes the public character of roles. [2] focuses instead on how roles are played, and thus it emphasizes the private aspects of roles: how the beliefs and goals of the roles become the beliefs and goals of the agents. The former approach focuses on the dynamics of roles in function of the communication process. Reactive multi-agent systems present global behaviours uneasily linked to their local dynamics. When it comes to controlling such a system, usual analytical tools are difficult to use so specific techniques have to be engineered. We propose an experimental dynamical approach to enhance the control of the global behaviour of a reactive multi-agent system. We use reinforcement learning tools to link global information of the system to control actions. We propose to use the behaviour of the system as this global information. The behaviour of the whole system is controlled thanks to actions at different levels instead of building the behaviours of the agents, so that the complexity of the approach does not directly depend on the number of agents. The controllability is evaluated in terms of rate of convergence towards a target behaviour. We compare the results obtained on a toy example with the usual approach of parameter setting. MAS have already more than proved their effectiveness while dealing with high level distributed problems, but some domains (usually low level ones) are still reluctant to their use, usually on a performance basis. UAV΄s multisensor integration systems take information coming from different sensors and integrate them into one global positioning solution, with a pre-analyzed fixed data fusion architecture topology in a changing environment. This article presents a distributed agent-based architecture that can process the visual information obtained by stereoscopic cameras. The system is embedded within a global project whose objective is to develop an intelligent environment for location and identification within dependent environments that merge with other types of technologies. Vision algorithms are very costly and take a lot of time to respond, which is highly inconvenient if we consider that many applications can require action to be taken in real time. Alternating-Offer Protocol (AOP) is the most predominant way for one-to one bargaining. In this paper, we provide an alternative protocol, Sealed-Offer Synchronous Bargaining Protocol (SOSBP), which can be useful for the automated bargaining between self-interested agents for Open E-Marketplaces. SOSBP introduces an intermediary agent who monitors the bargaining process and hides buyer΄s offers from seller, and vice versa. Using SOSBP, agents could free submit their offers for evaluating because the intermediary agent has no preference on both buyer and seller. We design some mechanisms to facilitate the success of bargaining, such as Minimum Concession, Concession Reward, Surplus Quote and etc, and present the basic framework of SOSBP. In the last 10 years several approaches and technologies other than MAS (such as Web services and Grid computing) have emerged, with the support of the industry, providing their own solutions to distributed computation. As both Web services and Grid computing are based in the concept of service orientation, where all computation is split in independent, decoupled services, there is an opportunity for MAS researchers to test and extend their mechanisms and techniques in these emerging technologies. In this paper we describe a way to adapt the HarmonIA framework to be applied in highly regulated Web services and Grid computing scenarios. To do so we include a provenance mechanism as part of our norm enforcement mechanisms, which can be integrated into a SOA Governance workflow. We will show with an example how provenance allows the observation of both service interactions and (optionally) extra information about meaningful events in the system that cannot be observed in the interaction messages. Decentralized orchestration offers performance improvements in terms of increased throughput and scalability and lower response time. However, decentralized orchestration also brings additional complexity to the system, mainly, in terms of exception handling. Data sources are often dispersed geographically in real life applications. Finding a knowledge model may require to join all the data sources and to run a machine learning algorithm on the joint set. We present an alternative based on a Multi Agent System (MAS): an agent mines one data source in order to extract a local theory (knowledge model) and then merges it with the previous MAS theory using a knowledge fusion technique. This way, we obtain a global theory that summarizes the distributed knowledge without spending resources and time in joining data sources. J2EE architecture has advantages in developing enterprise-class applications, but it does not support agent-oriented programming. JADE is suitable as a MAS development framework, but it considers less in maintainability, expansibility and stability. This paper proposes a MAS model - JadeEE (Java Agent Development Framework Enterprise Extension) - which is based on JADE and J2EE. This model keeps the running speed of enterprise MAS software in an acceptable level without losing any flexibility and reliability of J2EE. JadeEE is also an enterprise-class MAS application development framework with good stability, expansibility and maintainability. The computing industry has yet to take up agent technology as a new approach to software development. While other paradigms are supported by various tools, including generic IDEs, these are not well developed for agent-ware. Many agent platforms provide some form of IDE but these are platform-specific and are typically so tightly coupled to their agent platforms that they offer little re-use. There has been too little discussion about which tools an IDE should contain and few attempts to produce a generic IDE. In this paper, we identify two levels of abstraction requiring IDE tool support and draw on current research to categorise a set of generic tools for each level. We describe the reasons why existing MAS IDEs are coupled to their platforms and present an extendible software architecture which avoids this coupling. The systematic approach to the synthesis of the agent-supervisor supervising a group of agents is presented. It is based on results of the DES (discrete event systems) control theory. The agents as well as the agent-supervisor are understood to be DES and they are modelled by Petri nets (PN). The method based on PN place invariants is used in order to synthetise the supervisor. In MAS, agent interaction protocol has become the basis of coordination, cooperation and communication among agents. Since the semantics of agent interaction protocol in UML or AUML faces ambiguous and inconsistent problems, the paper presents an Extended Colored Petri Net(ECPN) as agent protocol modeling mechanism. By means of ECPN techniques presented in the paper, we can model agent interaction mechanism, validate the model's properties, and implement feasible transition to executable processes.
