Abstract

Type II Cepheids populate the same region of the instability strip as Classical Cepheids, but they belong to older stellar population. Their different stellar structure may result in different pulsational characteristics. We study the relative motion of the photospheric and chromospheric layers of Type II Cepheids by comparing radial velocities of metal lines and Hα. It is shown that in the P = 1 - 3, days regime the two types are markedly different, but their atmospheric motions become quite similar at longer periods. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
